Good work bjorn
Might just get me motivated to go for a fish it's been awhile
Might be time to dust of the waders and chase some flat salmon;)
-
I'm a bit different as I barely chase salmon from a surf beach
Most of my salmon fishing is on the northern flats
I used to use a 7foot 2inch 2-4kg Abu veritas rod with two different reels
A Diawa caldia 2506 or a Abu revo30
This set up cast light poppers and plastics a mile but I've changed to a lighter setup.
Now I use a Azusa 1-3kg 6foot rod with a stradic ci4+ 1000 reel
This is a bream setup but it casts a mile with the lures I use, even further than the Abu setup
It is such a light setup that I can cast all day on the flats and has enough power that it's landed 50cm+ salmon

I used to drink anything but last month clocked up 6 alcohol free days.....not in a row, 6 since 1976.
as you say each to their own, I know people that drink Coopers! fermented Torrens water, well it smells & tastes like it. Now I've started an arguement
What do the X’s in XXXX mean? Back in the day, beer quality was measured in Xs. The brewery’s first brew produced was XXX Sparkling Ale, which was awarded three Xs. The results were promising, but something was missing. So in 1924, they perfected the recipe further, gaining a fourth X.
Oi thems fighting words. Just cause you like west end and xxxx doesn't mean you need to put down the best beer in the world
Coopers all the way for me

Nice looking smoker mate

My pop used use his bench grinder to get the shape he wanted and start the edge then wetstone then finish it on a steel. I remember seeing use a leather strap to put a really fine sharp edge

Yep best gar filleting knives ever
I got pops after he pasted away and they are sharp!

I have an Abu veritable 7'2 2-4kg that I used to use on the flats. I don't use it much anymore as I use my Azuza 1-3kg 6' bream stick that is lighter and I can cast further.

Is that the Mojiko's or similar? I notice anaconda has the neoprene 1/2 price a couple of times a year but they never have the right size and when I've asked I get told sorry can't order them in they are a run out item....
I think I started a similar thread last winter but never bought anything so this has re kindled my interest....had enough of freezing in the water and shaking, looks a bit dodgy.
Fairly sure got my last pair as a present from the kids but pretty sure wife got them from bcf for $30 or $40
By memory I think they are Shakespeare
On a slightly different route I'm struggling to find kids waders.
My kids love fishing the flats with me but winter is too cold for them to wear shoes and shorts
Don't really want them to have the standard style as I'd be worried if they fall over
Can you get the neoprene type in kids sizes?

Unlucky on not reading this first mate

If so that's a great sign for the season.
