Knackers got a reaction from Del in Leatherback Turtle in Coffins Bay
Had a visitor only two hours ago to the boat. Big bugger, close to 2 m long.

No this isn't about cricket, martial arts or condoms.
I've been using this stuff for 4 or so months after rinsing reels off. They get a hammering in the centre console with spray (so do I). No seized line rollers or handles which is normally the bane of my existence. Still on this little can. It is probably expensive for what it is. Anyone else using it?
Sorry, sideways.

I think BCF. I'm finding it pretty good. Unlike WD40 which does have some lubricant in it the solvents pretty much strip away oils. Everything is spinning nicely.

Knackers got a reaction from Dylbaa in Rod suggestions to match 4000 stella
Consider the wilson venom spin range.
I have two venoms, a 5 ft 6 inch deep jig and a 6 ft 6 inch offshore. Both 2-5 PE. Obviously the spin range is lighter. I couldn't be happier with mine. Match them with my dogfight and expedition 5500.

Got myself an overhead KGW boat rig. A gomoku Irito with a Casitas baitcaster. Not sure about the reel yet. Bit plasticy, with lots of spots for salt water to get in. I could see the rod with an old ambassedeur or millionaire. Maybe even a 200 calcutta.

Knackers got a reaction from SaltyFlyer in Advice on Reels and Rods
So we have a cyclone going past here at the moment so it is stuck inside day. I'm here alone whilst the wife renovates our new place on Eyre Peninsula whilst I finish up work in Darwin and move down there in April for a year or two of 'retirement'. To avoid the bottle of whiskey and red wines daring me to drink them I though I would ask you chaps your opinion on some good combos for bread and butter stuff from jetties, beach and boat. I have only got into really enjoying the smaller stuff since I moved back from Vic to Adelaide in 2010. Previous to that all my fishing, including KGW, was ABU 7000, 20lb mono and rod to suit. I had the odd cheaper eggbeaters that would inevitably seize and die a horrible, neglected death.
I counted my rods the other day and had 30 of the things. Most not used so I gave a few away to a neighbours kid so now how 27, mostly still not used coz the favourites get hammered.
What I need is advice on matching rods and reels and maybe a few more rod/reel conbos for the guests that will come over. Most are non fishers and destroy braid due to reeling in with loose line and causing wind knots almost every cast. At the moment I have 3 small reels under shimano 4000 size. An Okuma salina 2 2500 bait runner with 6lb mono, shimano stradic 3000 with 10 lb braid and a brand new daiwa BG 3000 with 6 lb braid.

Knackers got a reaction from Meppstas in Where is this?
On a motorbike forum I belong to there is a 'Where is this?" topic. Inmates post up pics of places they've been for other people to guess. I searched and couldn't find one here, but I could be wrong. Have a crack at this?

Just saw this. I freeze them raw/green after cleaning for curries etc later. No worries at all. Do it with mud crabs as well.

Knackers got a reaction from newtontoney in Darwin, Barra fishing day tour recommendations . Kakadu
That is my experience as well. Barra are a lot like a decent sized mulloway in SA. You can do everything right but still not catch one. I've caught heaps of Barra, but not one legal one yet after 2 years up here. I call barra 'unicorns'.

Knackers got a reaction from rjwood in West Lakes crabs?
In the early 80s near the bridge at the legtrap hotel we used to dive and pull big heaps of oysters off concrete rubble/landfill on the bottom and off of the pylons.
Tasted great. Unfortunately most of the older blokes who ate them are dead now. It was definitely the cigarettes, emphysema and lung cancer, but they might just have died from the oysters if they lived long enough.
I'm still going at 45.

Don't worry too much.
Fishing is crap there
And nothing to see when you go snorkeling
I don't know why we go. I reckon we enjoy the drive more.
