i just use the old fashioned bumbelt when im beaching it.. but that set up looks pretty handy .

I remembered a recent event that had slipped my mind because i didn't win the fight I was fishing two rods off both corners at the end of Brighton Jetty, one with a jig that i was working and one with a small jag and fresh Tommy.Old Italian Fred, regular on the jetty calls out that my rod is going off. The drag is screaming on the rod with the Tommy jag and i start to fight whatever is on the end. This outfit has a 4000 shimano and 15lb line. Fought hard for about 5min, line goes slack, bring up the jag, tommy gone and the jags spikes were all bent the other way. We reckoned it was a small bronzie at a guess.

I muffed a cast at end of port vic jetty and wound it in lightning fast and it got smashed by either a snook or a couta but as I went to pull it up it bust off either a crappy knot or its teeth hit my line was more pissed about losing my Yozuri oita jag $25 when they first came out :c :c :c :c cheers 4THA

Bet you he won't.If there are positive changes and news on the near horizon, please start a new thread and share with the membership. Getting a little tired of the tidbits and throw away lines from certain folks. Surely this isn't the D-Day landings on the shores of Normandy or some other military operation.

If you have that much support Tackles, then therein may lie the danger. Every one running around up blind ally's and achieving nothing, except spinning the wheels.Wouldn't it be smarter with all that support you talk about, to channel all that energy into just one important issue for anglers and when that is achieved move on into another. Trouble is, with respect, I don't believe you. Anglers are still a disorganised force taking whatever is dished up ! It's a good military strategy to take the high ground and its rewarding what one can see from up here. Besides that one doesn't get covered with all the crap falling around you!

What changed Shannon ? Well SARFAC did....... For the worse ! For me, probably a lot wiser. With regard to Rapid Bay jetty, I was confident that over time we could win the restoration / new build debate and we did. To be successful one has to develop strategies that are not pipe dreams (achievable), otherwise you run around like Chicken Little moaning that the sky is falling in !Let the the jetty go, it will look after itself if it is to be a goer. Concentrate on issues that are more important tangible and achievable.

It's OK to aim high, but when resources are thin and with limited energies future prospects are best directed to those opportunities which have a good chance of success in the short term otherwise anglers could loose out on both ! I don't see the jetty as a "good chance", unfortunately. It's called priorities.The jetty should be allowed to run its own race and concentrate energies on the snapper, garfish and MP issues which will have a far greater impact on anglers. In my view changing the culture in PIRSA will have far more benefits for anglers than a jetty no one clearly wants to maintain.

Plenty of jettys out there to take the kids and teach them or have a day out...And of course it's about the fish man.. Our gulf isn't what it once was so something as precious as this should be left alone.

The taking of undersized fish or not isn't the point I was putting across.. If it's been untouched for so long and supposedly full of fish WHY the :c would you want to open it to the public that will get fished hard day in day out and clean the place out ? Honestly guys I know where your coming from with the test on the rules and so on but really most people already know the limits and how to put there rubbish in a bin so whats going to change.

Can't believe they brought those back, heaps of crusty old surf fisherman in the US have been whinging for years on the forums about how these reels were discontinued, same guys that are in love with the crappy old Squidder overheads. IMO the Z's are not a great design, which is why Penn moved on to the Spinfisher and Slammer models. But some people just can't handle progress or change, just because it's old or it's what Grandad used doesn't mean it's better. I've got plenty of newer reels that will last me a lifetime because they're designed and built well and I know how to take care of my gear. At $200 USD (so most likely $300 AUD if they're sold here) there are better reels out there, IMO.

Nah the 540 is a tougher heavier blank than a 5120.All this talk about lightness in big surf rods puzzles me a bit,who stands there holding a rod theyve thrown out with 6 ounces of lead and half a salmon fillet on it?in the surf most cases its cast it out set the drag and put it in a rod stand,the only time you actually hold the rod is casting,winding in to rebait or playing a fish.I have the new latest and greatest,sensor surfs ect and give me a 540 anyday.There was an eb 540 set up for an overhead for sale on here somewhere,i pmed the guy about it and never got a reply ??
