Just watched Korean cook's video where she used rock salt to 'grind' out the tentacle cups.
This will be tonight's dinner, with some smoked ST for entree. I spoil my wife.

I have the Ugly Stick wade bag.. It has a little case for lures in its own tight pocket, has velcro straps for extras, has the front pocket and a ruler, well drained, doesnt hold any water....Its light. It works for me..
I carry folding knife, nail clippers, spare spool, drink, 2 x T-towels, pliers and landing net, phone and camera..

Also found a cheaper version on a roadside junk pile😉
I needed a tackle storage solution for wading
I just cut the internals out of a soft esky and sewed in the shoulder harness with $2 buckles from Aussie disposals😉

for most of my fishing I use a small 5 litre waterproof bag. i generally fill it with lures, line, pliers and braid scissors. I've used it when wading up to my waist without any problems, just make sure its done up properly.

Thanks Doobie. Yeah I did a bit of a deep dive on weird worm catching methods.

there was a product recall in the USA after 30 deaths. People were dying for worms by plugging these device directly into mains power
a car battery sounds like a much saner option

Yeah that would be one tool where it’s really worth reading the instructions😉
from my brief reading, people carrying them around while plugged in and walking around the prongs while live, weren’t the best ideas

Mass production! A school of pished pillies

Why so many? Well I am marketing them as a fashion accessory, catches fishies and the ladies!

I think I've found a clear coat I like but it takes a week to set so it's yet to be proven but it's way better than the other epoxy I tried. Marine varnish was a complete failure for durability, hook rash was terrible.

If you can - fish everything unweighted with alot of slack in your line. Any resistance on spooky fish will make them drop the bait. If you have to use  sinkers - make sure its the bare minimum to get you bait out there and that its a running sinker.

The first time a fish should feel any resistance is when you set the hook as you see your slack line tighten

Live 10c to 20c sized crabs are my number one bait for bigger bream - live marine worms would be the best all rounder for all sized bream.

Second string baits are Live garden worms (especially after rain out the front of a drain mouth), freshly shucked local mussel, yabbies and peeled prawn tails.

Then you get into the lower tier baits like frozen or dead stuff.

But if you get super frustrated and arent catching - go buy some live local sand worm - very few species can resist. Scooping live shrimp and prawns are also dynamite baits. The closer to live, the better the bait, in my experience

Even though buying worms is expensive - after a few dud sessions - you begin to think - what is my time worth? If throwing $10 at bait, turns you into a bream catching machine - its $10 well spent.

Just in case I havent been clear - get the best bait you possibly can😉 - in some places thats bread - in some places thats live minnows - but in all places - live sand worm will put a few on the hook

Don't worry mate your not the only one to struggle when it comes to fishing for bream especially in West Lakes.

I have been using plastics and bait for bream, this biggest issue with fishing in West Lakes the residents over feed the bream, they grow up with being fed pretty much every day. I am yet to hook a bream in west lakes on a plastic as I refuse to use weightless jig heads.
I got told that if you use bread roll it up into a ball put it on your hook, dunk the bread in the water so you get some weight on the hook, then you can cast out alot further bream would love that.
The bream are hard to get because they are smart and incredibly finicky, they spook so easy its ridiculous.
The best advice I got from fishing for bream in west lakes would be don't use a sinker if they feel any weight on the line they will drop it. for bait I'd suggest  unweighted bread, pillie or prawn on 4lb - 6lb max fluorocarbon line.
But don't let the lake get you down I had been fishing for ages until I gave up as I was getting no where went to have a flick with some salmon trout in the port, they will take anything they aren't very fussy at all.
I was fishing off the breakwall in outer harbor in my yak for whiting, decided to take out another rod give it a flick along the rockwall, and I hooked my first 28cm bream on plastics, for me I was so amazed as I wasn't even thinking bream would be along the wall, thats what I love about fishing its so unpredictable.
But I would suggest heading to Torrens Island or in the Port get out of the lake it can be frustrating that's for sure.
Most importantly Goodluck and persistance is key
    Tight lines 😁
here is the bream I hooked in outer harbor off the break wall.

@FECB I guess that could be possible, however I didn't see any evidence of food either during or after. Although it must be said when I sat there, they were almost looking up at me as if expecting something.
Either way, good to know there are some genuine brutes still in the system.

As a local WL resident I would guess that these bream have a well-trained human who provides them with a regular feed.
Close to my home there are three generations of one family that have been feeding the bream at 4.00 pm each day for most of the 40 years I've lived by the lake.
The fish slowly sidle up to this house frontage, starting from about 2.30 pm each day, and after they've been fed they quickly disperse. They also seem to adjust to changing time zones as daylight saving switches On and Off.
Woe betide any innocent fisherperson who walks along the path having a flick: the residents are very protective of their "flock".

That is why they closed it before but decided that whiting are in great numbers.
Our catch rates agree with this - but most people complain they can't find them but many don't put in the time to understand where they are and why - and then understand the pattern.
We haven't been out from the last public holiday but are heading out tomorrow. I'm hoping the whiting haven't moved in that time but will find out. Ideally, getting out every 2 to 3 weeks is best, as they do move as the seasons do

Bloody things are everywhere, undersized whiting are probably the most common fish I catch. Agree with David that once you suss out where they hang out getting a feed isn't too hard, you can even choose between lots of smaller ones you need to get the measure out for, or fewer but much larger models you only need the camera for.
Just this Saturday  (glorious day) drifting around in about 3m off Port Gawler my Dad managed a 35cm model, among other stuff, on an SP, If that is a thing that can happen so close to Adelaide then they must be doing OK.

It’s done on a few different continents with a variety of different implements
worms should start surfacing with in a minute
guys claim it works in Australia but it most popular in countries with moles that hunt underground
rainfall, barometer,  oncoming storms, recent rains and light levels are all supposed to play into the techniques effectiveness
