  1. soft plastics.. and pretty much any hard body.. Green/silver/blue/red+white , when on they bite they are not really fussy.. and metal salmon lures are fine too.

  4. i wish our Murray Cray were protected.. not a chance us in SA will ever see them... and Platypus are always a rarity. we have them in the hills and Kangaroo Island.. Cheers for the photos!
  5. try to limit whats open.. i find zip locks pretty handy. but i also stick multiple smaller zips into a single bigger one to help save space
  6. i do love pickled seafoods.. tommie fillets and gar fillets where a favourite for us as kids. scallops/razor fish.. hmmmm my step father always used a spiced vinegar mix, think he actually bought it. then topped it up with a few extras such as chilli and garlic.. the good thing about food is.. we all like different flavours so its just a world of experiments!

  9. what will you be chasing with them?? We found tommy ruff was gun bait for gardies under a pencil float. squid/cuttlefish/cockles on the bottom running rigs for whiting. ST/Tommy/pilly etc on big rigs for snapper at the ledge, Seal corner, and Salmon hole areas we only ever fished land based.
  10. got a large collection of Alveys.. given to me from my step father. and also a few ive bought along the way. will be adding a new one to the collection.. though no need to open the box for many years.. as all the others still work fine! love these reels for the beaches!
  11. bucket of hot lead.. and a heap of old kitchen spoons.. make home made spoon sinkers. used them down at whyalla for many trips..
  12. Softys right.. but he means Cuttlefish though we used to get a few random squiddies around seal corner and the ledge. there is mud cockles, and then big pippies over on almonta/gunyah beach. Go to bait for me living at Kellidie bay was always small pieces of Tommy Ruff. over the years of growing up down there.. we did find some nippers in the sand bars on occasion. but we never really hunted for them. My families still got a shack at Kellidie bay... Love that place.

  17. yeah especially on a pencil float with 8lb mono off the rocks.. and quite a ledge to lift it up.. i climbed down and tried to swing it up onto a semi submerged rock.. then snapped the line. ended up grabbed her by my bare hands and throwing her up on the rocks. luckily didint get spiked. she put up a pretty decent fight thats for sure! gotta be one of my favourite table fish... tasted fantastic
  18. Caught this on my Garfish rig while hitting a local spot down near coffins on a trip a while back. Daiwa xcellor 2000, 8lb Ebay Braid. 7' shimano Raider 2-4kg caught a couple that day.. but this was certainly the biggest. swallowed the hook so it came home for dinner.
