Any legal means are all options as lomg as you can catch a Mully . Not a real big advantage being on the water or landbased as everyone has their own way of success catching a Mulloway . Also if their is no Mulloway caught then the biggest Bream is what the placing comes down to but as it is a Mulloway event then a 35cm Mully will beat a 45cm Bream . Hope to see you all down there .

This was the right up i did for the fb page .

Ohhh mother nature you are a kidder sometimes , just when i was thinking i would have to concrete the gazebo down for registrations you turn it on and produce an unimaginable night with perfect conditions . I haven't seen such a still night in a long time .
With the storm warning and rain the day before i was wondering if anyone was going to turn up but those that did had an absolute cracker of a night , catching plenty of Mulloway between all those that entered . From the non photo worthy catches up to the winning catch there was plenty of action for the anglers . With the turn out and interest we will definitely be doing another round in the future and will likely be in the beginning of Dec at the end of the year so keep your eyes peeled for details .
    Congratulations too...
Raffle winner = winning the Fleurieu Fishing Club , Shimano rod and reel combo went to Jason Bentley who was one of just a couple who only caught a donut .
Mystery Length winner = 24cm Mullet picking up a Fishing Wholesalers , landing net tackle box and some goodies went to Brad Monssen with his Mullet caught for bait .
3rd Place = 65.5cm Mulloway was Jamie Heitman who took home the Fishing Guru , filleting knife and glove .
2nd Place = 69cm Mulloway was Joshua Davey who got the Fishing SA Magazine years subscription .
And 1st Place = 85cm Mulloway was Mick Windibank who won the major prize a Reel Scream Fishing , Penn rod , reel , hat and stubbie holder , and what an awesome catch fella , a massive well done .
Thankyou to Strike&Hook.com and Fishing Wholesalers and Anthony Shultz for all the goodies that went into the raffle prize packs , and i think every second person walked away with a prize .
A big thankyou to all the sponsors

It was put on by Mulloway Taggers SA, unfortunately I couldn't make it down there. Plenty of decent mullys were caught, the winning fish was in the 80's. There are photos on FB, look up Mully Mayhem Fishing Series. There's another round coming up in West Lakes sometime in March I think.

Get keen for this weekend; river is firing up lately with a few legal mullies in between the undersized ones. Should be a good comp; I won't make it due to cricket commitments but good luck to the guys having a go.

Can't make this one, but last year's event was great, I even won a rod and reel combo.

Should be plenty of mullys landed, the river has been firing well lately.

Good luck to everyone, and thanks to jimbojames for organising this great event!

    Hi guys,

Got a bucket load of ST's, a few mullet and one 60cm (from memory) mully from inside the coorong opposite hindmarsh island. It was our first time down there we packed the swags, some wood, chucked it in the boats and set up camp. what a great spot! but man it was cold haha! Then more recently down salt creek, crossing at 42 mile and heading north. got only a couple of salmon, a couple soapies, a 4ft wide melbourne skate that had me chasing it a quarter mile down the beach (cooking and fishing dont always go hand in hand, any longer before checking the reel and I wouldve been spooled)!. But to top it off was a 73cm mully, almost brought a tear to my eye releasing that one back out to the surf! Ive managed a couple legals before and let a third go so no biggy but was pretty keen on a feed that trip! heading down again this weekend who knows maybe he's grown another couple cm's and will make the 3rd addition to my oven! Love fishing this time of year!

If you can, get neoprene waders. So much warmer than PVC and slightly more comfortable. Try and get waders where the straps are wide over the shoulder so they don't dig in and make long days out uncomfortable.

The rolling swell that was going underneath us is not visible but was about 4-6m buuuuttt the chop was nothing and was quite comfortable out there . That is correct Rod , i fish\am right handed with my rod in the right hand .

With a early morning flick down the Onk with no results I came home still thinking fishing and after catching up on a bit of work and doing a few things around the house I thought I'd get stuck into making a few DIY soft plastics, I'd rediscovered the moulds in my shed recently.

Paddle tail and curled tail grub in a few colours. The green one glows in the dark, takes a bit to charge up but does glow pretty well. I'm pretty messy when pouring but just trimmed them up with scissors afterwards and they look ok. Also have a few jig head moulds, the jig heads came out pretty well, I'll be trying those with the paddle tails. I can't wait to have a flick and see how they go

Cheers guys, yeah they came up pretty well. I have tested a few a while back and both swim really well.

Pretty sure they sink a little unweighted, I'll have to test out again and let ya know Tinks.

I bought the plastic moulds online years ago, the place is still up and going. U-Make-Em Soft plastics http://www.u-make-emsoftplastics.com.au no affiliation but would happily product test for them  Hint hint or they can sponsor Strike & Hook

I got some colour/dye/pigment what ever it is they call it and it goes a very long way. Also added craft glitter (any stuff really). For the glow in the dark ones I actually added glow in the dark powder coat. The powder coat shows up very nicely when done right but not as well adding into the plastic.

The plastics you just pour the liquid into a pyrex jug, heat up in the microwave for the specified time, stir, add colour, glitter, whatever, then pour the goop into the mould and let cool, pull them out and trim if you need to. Powder coat is pretty cool if you want glowing jig heads. Heat the lead on the end, dip into the powder and put in the oven. I had issues with it dripping a bit so haven't done any since my first attempt ages ago. I might have another go soon.

I haven't used the moulds much but they have lasted for years in my shed so I reckon the quality is up there.

The jig head mould and jig hooks I got off ebay, just searched around for hooks that would fit the mould and bought a whole bunch of them.
