  2. All I use is circles when chasin the big chaps I use owner tournament inline 10/o's either running sinker or paternoster depending if we drift or anchor only the one hook with plenny of exposed hook 90% lip hook rate & you do get all sizes of fish even when using these larger hooks My other choice if we chase ruggers is gamakatsu 5/0 -6/0 circles, again only single hook with plenny exposure got Moggy23 to make me up a heap of 5/0`s I found in an old bag the other day Cheers and good luck 4THA

  4. Hi all' date='I am new to this forum but hopefully have something to offer the angling community and something to gain for my research.I have just completed my PhD developing culture protocols for marine baitworms (Flinders University). We can now successfully grow and produce sandworms and have reached the point of planning some market research.Sam[/quote']Welcome to the site Congrats on your phd :)Always wondered if anyone was ever going to attempt to do this sort of research - testingRecently took 2 other members from tha site down to Point Riley collected some seaweed worms and had some success on them out in the bay will be interesting to see how the "clones" stack up against them Is there any other forms of work you are investigating ie tube worms / pipi's etc that you are also testing would certainly be interested to give the worms a test once available Cheers 4THA

  6. Just copied this off the visitors centre page Good luck over there, boy am I jealous would love a trip over there mate smacked some big gt's and macks With the continental shelf only kilometres offshore, fishing and the Ningaloo Reef go hand in hand. There are many opportunities for beach, reef and game fishing in the diverse environment of Ningaloo. Sanctuary zones are special conservation zones where fishing is strictly prohibited but there are many other areas in the Marine Park where the fishing is superb. For information on the Sanctuary Zones, please contact the local Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) office on 9947 8000 or the Department of Fisheries on 9949 2755.Land based fishing is a popular recreational pastime as there are many different species to be caught. Beach fishing often produces surprising reef species while fishing in Exmouth Gulf turns up a variety of estuarine species. Mud crabbing and squid fishing are also popular activities. Enquire locally about what’s on the bite!Professional charter boats depart Exmouth daily. They offer a range of tours including half and full day fishing trips, as well as being available for private charter. Some of the sought after species are North West Snapper, Blue Bone, Coral Trout and Red Emperor. Ningaloo Reef is also recognised as the premier game fishing destination in Western Australia - it is one of the few places in the world where such famous species as Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Spanish Mackerel and Sailfish are hooked regularly. Every year in March Exmouth hosts the Gamex Tournament which always produces some fantastic - often record breaking - catches (a ”Tag and Release” policy is adhered to).BOAT LAUNCHING FACILITIESExmouth has 3 boat launching areas. The Exmouth Boat Harbour is located 2km south of the Exmouth townsite and offers concreted boat ramps within the sheltered wall of the marina. Other boat ramps are located 12km north of town at Bundegi Beach, and 35km from town (just north of the Cape Range National Park. boundary) at Tantabiddi. Other small boat launching areas are available from campsites in the park though these are generally only accessible to 4WD vehicles.SANCTUARY ZONESThere are additional Sanctuary Zones that have come into effect. Special conservation regulations, bag and size limits apply in the Marine Park. Please contact the local Fisheries department or the local DEC office for further information. OPERATORS IN THE REGIONFishing charter operators in Exmouth include: Blue Horizon, Exmouth Deep Sea Fishing OBriens Charters, Ningaloo Pearls, Ningaloo Blue (Seaventure), Ningaloo Fusion, On-Strike Fishing and Peaksport Fishing.Fishing charter operators in Coral Bay include: Coral Bay Game Fishing Charters and Seaforce Fishing ChartersSome companies can offer either half day or full day charters. 8. Trial project welcomed by recreational fishersWestern Australia’s peak recreational fishing body Recfishwest has welcomed the State Government’s unveiling today of the first artificial reef project in the south-west region. Recfishwest Chief Executive Officer Dr Andrew Rowland said the $2.38 million initiative to establish the State’s first artificial reef trial on the south-west coast would increase habitat for key fish species. "The Royalties for Regions program funding and $520,000 from recreational licencing revenue has enabled the artificial reefs initiative to come to fruition," Dr Rowland said. "This is a fantastic tangible benefit for recreational fishers who purchase a fishing licence. With the first artificial reefs being located near Bunbury and Quindalup boat ramps, they will be a great resource for small boats to access. "Recfishwest undertook a significant consultation process with local fishers to select the best locations." Dr Rowland said the locations selected for artificial reefs are based on a strict set of environmental parameters such as water currents, depth and bottom type. "Local fishers will be engaged in monitoring programs to determine the effectiveness of the structures and assess the benefits to the community. "If these structures meet their potential, they will benefit the environment and local communities; complement Western Australia’s robust and adaptive fisheries’ management approach; and help ensure fish stocks remain sustainable."Map with artificial reef location here http://www.fish.wa.gov.au/PublishingImages/Media%20Releases/Photos/Artificial_Reef_Site_Assessment_%20Proposed_Sites%20-.pdfimage_2013-01-29.jpg Would love to see a few of these dotted along our coast line Cheers 4THA
