First time I've seen this off the bom site. Clicked on the North Haven area and came up with the usual weather info, then clicked on the 'detail' box and you get temps, wind direction, wind speed and combined swell info for 8 different times during each day! Very helpful http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/meteye/?loc=SA_MW011So going on Saturdays details the Tinny might get wet in the morning and back in by before 10.30am.

Sad loss, he was a lovely man and an ornament to fishing in SA. I spent many an hour chatting with Rob and always made it a point to stop in and say g'day and buy something whenever i was down that way.I know his daughter Amanda and the family are shattered as you'd imagine. RIP Rob.

Hi everyone for all you fishos out there its Robyn here from St Kilda Tackle and Tucker. As I don't see anything on industry news I would like to let you all know that Robert Kelly passed away last Saturday .Robert as you would be aware owned the Dorsal Fin until recently and was an integral part of Adelaide fishing for many years .I have heard many tales from blokes who Robert taught when they were lads and I know this will come as a shock he was a great personality and a well liked bloke.I know the family will feel rewarded by reminiscences of Robert.I know that all of us at Tackle and Tucker will miss his friendly face and his capacity for a good chin wag.

My lightest outfits have 6lb fireline and 6lb fluoro leaders, at times when necessary I'll go to 4lb fluoro, but I don't like to, I'm getting old and it's a pain in the ass to tie.

I use 5lb on 1000 reel and 6lb on a 2500 reel for my fishing. 5lb is my standard with a 4lb fluorocarbon leader from tommies and gar up to snook, carp and school mullies.

I use a true 10lb line for all my light lure work it's the same diametre of most 4-6lb test braids and use different rods for plastics and hardbodies, wippy rod for hards and a stiffer rod for plastics and an even stiffer rod for blades and topwater. The only rod that I know of that would be a good allrounder is a loomis DSR 820 GLX 4-8lb but their a bit hard to find at the moment.cheers

My light out fits are 4lb and 6lb . I always use either 10lb 15lb or 20lb leader depending on what i am targeting . Leader is always heavier or the same as main line . Your outfit is only as strong as the weakest link . I see it all the time where people are using 8lb main with 4lb leader and are wondering why the keep getting busted off ????? The leader needs to be fairly strong because this is a the business end and where you are going to get the most abrasion . And yeah i chase mainly Mulloway but if you have a decent leader on and a fish takes you into a snag you have less chance of the leader getting snapped if it is heavier and more chance of getting the fish out ?

4THALOVE reacted to Hetherington in YFW Metro Report
Hi all!Went down to my favourite YFW haunt in Tennyson last night after hearing varying reports of fish in the area. To my disappointment, the place was ravaged by baby salmon trout. Every bait that was tossed around was attacked almost instantly by these little buggers. They were event hitting my favourite YFW popper and a varying amount of plastics.Has anyone else had this issue so far this season?

the new berths cop it hard when it gets wild down there the actual extension is bugger all but would certainly dull the force of the waves coming straight up into the berths as it currently is

Vac packed baits will store, Freeze, pack & transport better The easiest cheap way to vac pack bait is .... Fill bucket of water Put left over bait into zip lock bags pull bottom corners under water to push air out zip up bag Bags can be rinsed & reused My cryovac can strugle with sucking juice out of bait So I just use it for Prime fillets :cheer:

Okay here's the info on what's going on here (to the best of my knowledge):The CYC are a non-profit community club. Raising money for them is actually a lot harder than you would imagine with all those big boats parked in there. So far they have raised $1 million towards the extension of the breakwater, which will cost around $2 million. They are asking the government chip in the rest of the funds and in exchange they are guaranteeing the North Haven Ramp will stay open to the public and be maintained until 2023. However, the government want them to guarantee that the ramp stays open until 2070! 67 years! To me that seems like a very unreasonable request, especially since the other option for the CYC is to simply shut the ramp.If the CYC were to close North Haven, they could easily generate the funds needed to extend the breakwater. The ramp does not generate even close to what you would think per year and using that space as boat storage or something similar would be a better option for the CYC, financially, however they don't really want to do that. They are happy to continue running it, but feel that the government should shoulder some of the financial responsibility. The editorial in the latest SA Angler also has quite a lot of info about this and why it is an absolute necessity to extend the breakwater. Many people are up in arms about the government possibly using money from the boating levy fund to pay for this, because it's private property. However, the owners of most of the craft in the marina have been paying into the fund for years, typically about $250 a year each which is more than the average trailer boatie pays (around $50ish per year) and so it doesn't seem so unreasonable to chip some of that money back in to benefit everyone.Recs get a prime boat ramp. The CYC and its members get an extended breakwater and safer marina and the government gets a public service run on their behalf, guaranteed for 10 years, for basically nothing. Seems like a no-brainer to me personally.

like a javelin and yep I use 9/0-10/0 circles for that exact reason described, less gut hook rate especially the ruggers have still had some bigger ones swallow the lot though

Luv the read. The circle hook preference comes as no surprise but it is still great to see many anglers suspicions backed up.Need the extra long spike if taking out a snapper with a big head bump from the frontal direction.TB

4THALOVE reacted to Knackers in Undersize Abalone okay for some apparently
This is an interesting topic. An issue I would like to highlight is that the High Court decision is really about holes in the state government laws. It isn't about the character or ethnicity of the defendants. If any of us where in the same situation where we thought we were right in a legal sense then why shouldn't they have every opportunity to take it as far as they can? I am cognisant of the financial support provided though which the average racist anglo bogan wouldn't get (I'm one as well). An example of what I mean is the anti-bikie laws in QLD seemingly getting around laws, enshrined in UN charters that we have ratified and made as laws, like free association. I reckon there will be some new legislation being considered to close this loophole or at least to make it more realistic and pragmatic.
