If you can get on pt giles jetty at least you have wind cover and deeper water, prob is theres been ships in port for the last 6 months for grain harvest. If you go to the ports corp website you can check the shipping schedule, heaps of squid there, small ruggers for some fun, sharks off the end, depending on the wind direction you could try the other side of the peninsula.

Been fishing at Port Noarlunga Jetty for the last 25 years of my life. I dont like crabs so ive never worried about crabbing much in my life, but my Girlfriend of 2 years loves crabs so weve bought a few nets of late and went down for some fishing n crabbing with a few mates. I was wondering why people were looking at me while ditching the crab net out, it wasnt until a nice man came up to me and said its illegal to use a crab net from the Jetty. I was stunned, i said what do u mean, he said u cant crab from this jetty there is a sign telling u that at the start of the Jetty. I packed up the net immediately and we walked down to look at the sign, we couldnt see one saying no crabbing, just the usual, no dogs, no jumping, no drinking etc. It wasnt until we left for the night that we noticed a very faded and very unreadable sign painted on the ground which said something about crabs. Man if i woulda got done by fisheries last night i woulda been spewing as i was completely innocent not knowing and there sign on the ground is very unreadable they woulda had a fight in court on there hands, i always obey fishing rules but this sign is simply not good enough!!!Anyway after 25 years of fishing there i never knew this lol

Best bet would be to take advantage of the current south easterly and slack tide and float out a couple tommie's on a wire jag out from the rocks. Best land based area would be out the front of the Marino Kiosk, near the old boat ramp there. If casting jags, take a few spares cos its hard to gauge how deep they are sitting when fishing from the shore and its a fine line between getting snagged, and getting the jag down into the strike zone.A boatie I spoke to at the ramp yesty got a few in that area.

Popped in and saw me rellies at meningie and chucked a line in hoping for some callop or redfin, but instead had a ball with some MASSIVE carp. I remember as a kid catching them in the river torrens and dragging in a dead weight, not these beasts there taking line, BIG runs and putting up some very entertaining fights on 8kg line, had a absolute ball with them, no point using the tiger worms, they go in seconds we caught all of ours on corn kernals, lol, and a little kid down the track a bit was catching them on jelly beans, so if ya got some youngings and want to guarentee them to catch some BIG fish head on down there over the holidays for some real good fun:laugh:

Hey all,Saturday the 20th of nov, a day to remember.I and my son went out in my boat,14 ft stacer, mostly just to chill, life had been a little rough of late, and maybe get a few salmon and a feed of crabs.First we tried a creek runoff as the tide was outgoing, nothing but shitties, time to shift and get settled for a cuppa for smoko, we didnt get out early and werent to fussed about the tides either, just a nice day on the water. We moved and anchored just outside of one of the new channel markers popping up everywhere up here, in went the berley and out came the thermos. After a cuppa a little friendly competion with my boy on the salmon with lures, we had bought each other an ugly stik baitcaster for christmas as we both wanted to try more of this sort of fishing, a few salmon came in the boat and then i got a nice tommy on a metal slice, ever the optomist i put it on the big rod as a livie an sat for a smoke. The gar dissapeared from the berley trail and my livie was super excited, just as i said to my son "get ready" my rod went off, i grabbed it and hit the lever drag to strike, well it only slowed a little and i was worried about poles etc, Shaun had the anchor up, ready to start the moter but luck had the fish and us going for open water so i put more drag on and well maybe that was a mistake, kingy must have realised something wasnt right and had a big run, both arms locked on the rod, the rod on the side of the boat with the tip in the water, my left arm was burning already, lift and a couple of winds and off kingy would go again, this went on for a bit, sweat was pouring off me, my arms were burning, and i was starting to wonder who would win, about then it went deep just bursts now and then it went in wide circles under us, Shaun lifted the moter and i started to gain some line back. Then we saw colour, and i realised the size of the thing, and well we swore! and i paniced, as the fished arced wide i knew it would see the boat and run again, Shaun had the gaff ready, and gaffed just as it was about to go off again, up she came in a rush of pure adrenalin Shaun pulled it into the boat.Athough we tried, we didnt get another run and my son missed out, next time aye, at the tackle shop it weighed 54 kilos and was 115cms long.

Got keeper first cast, coupla little nibbles then a mullet, then a throw away mullet, then walked over sandbar then first cast another YFW, came home with 2 and a mullet, left about 9am Used a running sinker with size 6 hooks and tubeworms, smallest running sinkers i found in my t/box, 1 cm in length, was getting a lot of drift/pull to the left so have brought some size 3 running sinker for tommorrow morning, hopefully have a bit tighter linesFun Morning
