I leave a tackle box in the car full of stuff i might need and then you a carry bag which is smilar to what afishyfish was speaking of. Has plenty of pockets to put lures, soft plastics, jigs heads, pre made rigs in and so on. Also carry squid jigs in a old pencil case with bit of soft foam to place the squid jigs in. Keeps everything together nice and neat.

I brought one a while ago now, cost me $16 including postage...does the job, nippy, light, not bad casting lures as well, awesome fun with salmon trout, bream and whiting...for that price they arent too bad rods...id rate them in the same category as the stuff you find at kmart.

I think it basically comes down to three main things.1. Direct Contact with Lure and Bottom at all times.2. Paddle Tail plastics or anything with an inbuilt action!3. Slow it down with rolls and hops instead of burns and flicks! If you know what I mean :cheer: If I had to choose I am flicking with these:1. 70mm Squidgy fish Silver Fox and Black Gold.2. Squidgy Mongrel Boof Mullet.3. 110mm Squidgy Shad in White Lightning. And for any more information Here is a video you might want to watch:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGtrUmmZHYgCheers as always TT. Have a 5000FI stradic on my 902 jewel is a very good reel, smooth as and casts well over 100m. I would go the stradic 5000FJ excellent value for money reel.

Should also add mate that there are much cheaper options that will do the job just as well too. Shimano stradics are pretty darn good too, me bro knocked over a 72cm kingy and an 80cm mulloway with his in the last couple of weeks with his and it has performed beautifully. They are only around the $220 mark.

On a 9ft rod, my gut feel is that a 4000 size reel MAY be too small. Stradic 5000FI or FJ would be ideal I would think. For 200-250 you can't go wrong!

I've got a ci4 4000 on my 10ft seajigger. Great combo for salmon!Any 4000 would be the go I reckon. I personally like the ci4 but the normal stradics are nice and then the sustain is also in your budget. Spooled up with a decent 20lb braid and you'll fit almost 300m on thereCan't comment on daiwa as i don't really use them

just discovered two great apps for fishing.fishing times lite is a free app giving you major snd minor fishing times for the day as well as tide time ans moon/ sun rises and setting times.its free , and greeat but only gives you todays info. fishing times pro for $1.99 gives you the same info but you can look ahead at any date.it helps if you have your location service switched on, from there you can acceess a map and ask for info for anywhere in oz.also found shralp tide, free again, and gives you tide times. hold the phone on its side and it gives you a running graph of the tide, allowing you to scroll over the graph pinpointing time and exact height at that time.it allows you to look a few days in advance too.again, switch your location service on.hope this is handy or maybe its already well known.nicksure apps exist for android phones too, just google it and find them

I love my squidding outfit to be honest. Its an 8ft LB Shimano Sephia teamed up with a Daiwa Triforce 2500 loaded with 10lb braid. It casts an absolute mile and has the ability to dead lift big squid up the side of a jetty. It's gr8.

Hey Hooksters,I've been going on about how much I love my Ugly Stik and Sedona on here since my Mrs gave the combo to me as a birthday present last October anyway I know it's been done before, but what's yer favourite combo??? Breaming to sharking or whatever. I.currently have an odd couple bream set up... I've paired a Tsunami 2-4kg sp rod with a Shimano Twinpower 2500 I do have a little Sedona, (and love it), but the Twinpower is a pretty specky little real for a spaz like me and really really like those Kmart tsunami rods  I think that there are some killa little gems hidden in the budget range at the tackle.store and also in weird places like bigw and Kmart. At the same time, quality names like the Twinpower really are probably well worth the $$$$$.Here's some pics of the fun and captures that have lifted my 6000 Sedona and Platinum 6ft 9 6-10kg UglyStik to legendary status in my shed... The rod and reel get a freshwater rinse after ever sesh and still behave like new after plenty of boat spray and abuse locked up on the odd eagle ray.IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SNAPPER OR MULLOWAY COMBO FOR $200-250... This combo represents the absolute unbreakable best in the market. When I was looking at T Curves last September, a tackle store dude told me uglystiks were SHITHOUSE now!!!!! To him I say, check out the fun had since our chat bud :P. (for the record a curved may be in my future as im intrigued, but think I might break one  ) [img Tackle is a bloody.important part of our fishing time,

Hey Banga,My Beach/Rock outfit for Snapper is a 9 Foot Gary Howard Viper 1 peice 10-15kg stick with Daiwa 4500J Freams with 30lb braid but 20lb would suffice as main line, but 30lb gives you a bit more assurance when pinging 3-4oz leads as far as you can throw them. You need a slightly longer rod to provide you with leverage and to get your line up above the waves of the beach, but a 12-14ft surfrod would be overkill but certainly could be used. I find with my Viper I can wade into the water at the beach and fish with it comfortably for alteast two hours as its not very heavy at all. The beaches in which you will get fish from here during summer (excluding salt creek of course) you will need to be wading out on warm evenings, and holding your rod..or for me that is one of the enjoyable aspects to it..but I guess you could walk back and pop it into a rod holder as well. The good thing about this rod, is its also perfect for jetty use such as Porties and Rapids. You can also toss lures with it for salmon and its also great with bait for salmon off the rocks too.I normally then run at least 10 feet of 45lb leader, and hook traces are tied with 45lb Scneider and are two 6/0 Gamma Cirles for big baits or if using Pilchards and squid you can Its amazing how many times you can pull your rig off a snag when running 30lb braid and slightly heavier leader. Can end up saving you a lot in lost sinkers, although its inevitable when rock fishing.Welcome to the scene Banga and of course if your really keen we could hit up a beach this w/end

I like using an improved albright on light gear up to 10lb. On the heavier lines I use FG knot, quite complex and time consuming but very smooth through the guides. there are other good ones out there too. Up to you which one you can tie easiest and fastest.Hey Brent61 good point there. I'm actually wanting to go back to mono too after I lost a big Mulloway to structure a few weeks ago, I might have had a better chance with mono.
