I was using the fg knot on all my setups but have found when wading the flats it's just too hard to tie while trying to keep your reel out of the water and the wind fighting you
I normally just use the double Uni while wading and fg when in my boat
I have just been told I have 3 of the knot assist devices on the way to me which should make the fg knot a bit easier while wading
Should've given you a buzz to grab an extra one .
One might be spare will let you know late next week mate
We should catch up for a fish soon
Got a new yorkes yfw popper spot that fired for me two weeks ago if your keen

How often do you have to tie an FG knot whilst wading? How light do you fish? I wouldn't have thought that you break too many knots at all.
I fish 4pound most of the time sometimes 8 pound leader at the most. I don't have to retie many leaders mate but when I do need to change one I end up doing a double Uni and find they tend to catch the guides more and break more often
If I can tie the fg easily while out there then I wouldn't have to worry about as many
I also tie my lures rather than using clips so sometimes a leader change is needed due to needing more rather than breaking them off

Lol it has gone very quiet
I still have my tail between my legs after my wife killed me 😢

Yep great reels I love them
I use a 1000 ci4+ atm and it has caught 50cm salmon no problem. Just takes a bit longer to get them in but part of the fun I say
-
Yep I've got one little spot on yorkes that has always produces me 40cm + yfw that I want to throw some flys at. I need to hit yorkes for work in the next two weeks so fingers crossed I can slip in some fishing

I think this year as my fishing time will be very limited again due to kids sport I will be targeting one of my favourite fish on one of my favourite areas....... Yfw yfw yfw yfw on the flats flats flats
So with the awesome time of year coming up (Spring and Summer months) What are people looking at targeting? What are you hoping to achieve?
Here is my list. Not in any particular order....
Yellowfin Whiting on fly
Yellowfin whiting on Popper over 35cm
Yellowfin whiting on plastic
Flathead on fly
Flathead over 60cm
Yellowtail Kingy Landbased over 90cm
Legal Mully.
With more time on my hands now and my passion back for fishing i should hopefully be able to achieve this and put alot of hours in....
So lets hear your plans!
And by this you will be spending a fair amount of time out my way

I like to use 4lb and 8lb Sunline rock FC as my leaders and I use Sunline FC sniper for my casting flouro. I've go no complaints with either, Both tie well and cast well.
I did use the daiwa tournament FC both in 2lb and 4lb and didn't like them one bit. Both snapped quite easily when tying knots and fighting fish (Lost a couple of good fish at the FC end of my line) . I thought it was my braid cutting into the FC so I mad sure the knots were well lubricated and pulled on the knots slowly and they still snapped. I went back to sunline FC and haven't had anymore dramas, Maybe I just had a bad batch.
Had the same issue with Diawa tournament in the same sizes
Now change between vanish and sunline depending on budget at time of purchase but no problems with either

Thanks all
Will look into it
Knackers I'm up there Thursday Aug 18 till just after midday Sunday 21
From what I've been told we have the Thursday arvo and maybe the Sunday morning to ourselves
Saturday is pre booked with a whole day charter
-
So I'm lucky enough I'm going on a four day fully paid trip to Darwin in August by one of my suppliers
On the Saturday I had a choice of a few different activities. Options varied from the jumping crocs tour, the place that has the clear tub they put you down to the croc in, day spa, free day to your self etc etc
My choice of course was a full day fishing charter which I disappointedly found out today is a off shore charter. Don't get me wrong I'm sure it will be awesome but was really wishing to fulfill a long time dream on flicking some lures in the creeks and catching my first bara.
I also was told today that the day we arrive we have the afternoon to ourselves.
My hand got twitchy straight away thinking free time = fishing
My question is I'm going to chase a half day creek bash charter but who do I go with?
Anyone been with anyone up there that they would recommend?
Thanks

Great report and some good sized salmon
looks like you had a good couple of days weather wise too.
Interesting to hear the seals are back
Last time I was down there the seals had disappeared to go breed shame they came back but that was always going to happen.

No fishing for me.
Been flat out with work, kids sport, kids sport oh did I mention kids sport
Also been throwing myself down some muddy hills on the mtb
Hoping I might get a couple hours on the flats this weekend

Anyone get into any salmon action over the weekend?
Had a go at Maslins Sunday arvo, lots of walking and casting and not a touch.
Very happy with my new lure bag setup though, a Daiwa Trout Bag with my own customised lure storage system!
There's a good winter post, do tell regarding the bag and custom lure storage. Pics would be good

It has a really special spot in my heart

Hi guys, anyone bought any new ultra light toys lately? Looking at reels up to 2500 size and smaller atm. Don't mind spending if worth it. Cheers
I know I've mentioned it already but go have a feel of Azusa, I just love mine
