Yes, gone light for up the warren and will also take this combo in the boat for coorong mullies if I need a bit heavier than the normal light gear I throw down there

Been thinking it’s might be time to spend more time chasing natives on the Murray and ressies. Have not fished the fresh except some creeks since I was a kid
after picking the brains of a couple on members on here I decided I needed a new setup to chase natives
here it is with a few bits of candy

keenfisho reacted to Meppstas in Garfish - how long in fridge and easiest way to cook
My grandfather used to roll a beer bottle over them (belly down once they were guttet, then nip each side of the tail turn the fish over and pull it towards the head, That removed the back bone and the rib cage all in in one.. I tried it a few times couldn't get the hang of hot..😃

Oh I forgot, the other thing I almost caught on the pished pilly, but glad I didn't, was an albatross. It picked up the lure on the surface and flew off, I thought oh shit and wondered whether to jerk the line or not but it dropped it after a few seconds. I thought it must have worked out it wasn't a fish but as soon as it hit the water it dived back after it and I had to crank fast lol. Then again, I could have found out what flavour albatross is 🤣

Spent the weekend at Edithburgh. Apparently the plastered pilchard (pseudo bent minnow) works ludicrously well:
Yep even a squid took the lure. Total for the was 10 snook, best 56cm, 10 salmon best 40cm, and 1 squid (more on the trad lures). Taking orders lol!

keenfisho got a reaction from doobie in Bream at Old Noarlunga?
I’m not a local and don’t fish it very often but there used to be some big old dark ones in the upper system, need to fish in tight to the plentiful snags and then good luck getting them out
For every good fish I’ve ever caught from there, Ive lost a lot more 🤬

Plenty of good size ones in there. Good fun sight casting at them in the shallows at the back of the footy oval.
Go to plastic is the Ecogear Aquaprawn unweighted and on a weedless hook.
Look for the feeding fish by using polarised sunnies and look for the golden flashes.
Hope this helps

keenfisho reacted to Jimmy. in Biggest Carp
it explains why softy is the way softy is... not many people would swim in the torrens for a $70 rod and reel combo and a carp

keenfisho reacted to jackmac in Kangaroo Island
Just spent 6 days cruising KI with a couple of old mates.Physically I’m not as capable as I would like to be, I’m one of the people who would of fished hard every minute of the day but now I’m more the deckie and I enjoy helping others to catch fish.On these trips I supply the gear tie the rigs bait the hooks and get a lot of pleasure from it .The fishing was pretty average for ki standards and the weather forecasters were having a bad week. The tuna reports of small schools out from Emu Bay had us doing a fair bit o trolling for no success,so we decided to spend most of our trip fishing in close chasing whiting.Over the next few days the same story kept repeating .We would pull up to a whiting spot that has been productive for us in the past,4 rods go in and 4 rods come up tight double header of small pinky snapper.Pick comes up we move only for this to happen time and time again. In all we only landed about a dozen plump whiting but it was great to see the snapper stocks are on the improve.
