For those of you interested in tuna fishing, I have 4 spots left for a charter this Saturday. I recently organised a tuna hunt and have had 4 last minute cancellations. If you're keen, our group of 10 are aged 33 - 40, keen fishermen and good for a laugh. The charter operator is based in Marion Bay and we'll be heading out to Neptune Island chasing Southern Blue Fin and then bottom bouncing for the second half of the day for nannies etc... We'll be out on the boat for approx 12 - 14 hours depending on conditions. If interested send me a PM.

You should only take what you need for a feed when chasing bream. They are very slow growing and to take a 30yr old bream and put it out as live bait i think is stupid. Not sure bout you but id much rather swallow a troutie or tommie over a bream with that dorsil spine full of spikes

As you all know, my new target was snook... First day targeting them, I caught 2!!! We went at sunset and caught 2 squid straight away. After those 2 squid, the bite had gone down. But I started getting a few hits on the little sp so I persisted. I saw some snook rising from the deep and them BANG! I saw a snook hit the lure! I landed it just as it spat the lure on the jetty. Pew... that was lucky  MY FIRST EVER SNOOK!!! Later on after the sun had set, I had one massive hit on the sp lure and this was a BIG FISH! It didn't take up much of a fight considering I had locked drag. I managed to land it on the jetty. I was so excited! I measured it and it was 64cm on the dot! WOW! I WAS SHOCKED... :woohoo: First day targeting my new species and sucess! This big snook had a scar on it's tail which I think might be from another snook or a shark? We ended the day with a nice feed.

I think cowell really fires in winter for yfw but not sure if you'll still get a feed.. The blueys should be on you can wade out and rake em or just nets off the jetty. The flathead come through there as it warms up as well( could be by catch while your chasing yfw).As many tommies as you want in the lights off the jetty and same lights will have snook. Make sure you walk the jetty b4 trying as sometimes they hold on that 1 light and you'll get the bag much quicker. There was ink on the jetty in cowell but dunno how thick they are..Good luck man love it up there

pauly s reacted to PJ151 in Media release - Metropolitan shark fishing restrictions now permanent
I feel confident in saying that a ban on day time metropolitan shark fishing in unnecessary as well.Anyone who understands the marine environment off adelaide already knows that the sharks are there anyway. They're there for the sand crabs, snapper, tommies, garfish etc and an angler fishing say a salmon trout or mackeral out for sharks is not going to make any difference.Urban runoff, sewage, the torrens outlet etc all those sources of offal are much much more likely to attract a shark than a bloke fishing a salmon trout under a balloon. We all know that but unfortuantely some unneducated residents think they know better and are doing the right thing to protect their children by successfully lobbying for shark fishing to be banned. The Government sees it as an easy quick political fix when in reality the danger level to beach goers remains the same as it always has or possibly worse since white sharks become a protected species. Many people have lost touch with the natural environment and falsely believe that quick fixes like this will suddenly make the beaches safer.

How can you chase sharks weekdays if you can't have a bait in till 9pm ? We can't fish the hour b4 sundown and onwards which would be the time and then in the morning you can't fish first light so not sure how they are the times sharkers operate

Just got this from this Australian Government Page ( or this link http://www.alrc.gov.au/publications/35.%20Aboriginal%20Hunting,%20Fishing%20and%20Gathering%20Rights%3A%20Current%20Australian%20Legislation/-0 )South Australia 954. Fisheries Generally. Under the Fisheries Act 1971 (SA), Aboriginal people are subject to the same restrictions as to the numbers of fish caught, the size of fish caught and the methods of catching fish as are all other citizens. Aboriginal people require a permit to catch fish for sale. The Aboriginal Legal Services have received few if any complaints relating to prosecutions under the Act. Discussions have taken place between the South Australian Government and the Point Pearce Aboriginal Community over requests to close the stretch of water between Point Pearce and Wardang Island to trawlers engaged in net fishing, and to exempt Aboriginal people from commercial licence fees.interesting cheers 4THA

Fin's braid is the best I've had.. Neva knots and cast very wellGo 8 - 10 lb tho it casts better and I've lifted big snook, squid and stuff up onto jettys with the 6lb so you'll be plenty heavy with 10lbI always tie slim beauty so don't stress bout thatJust I case always run the Lind between your fingers to get it tight on the spool every now and then, hopefully your keeping it tight by smashing squid
