I have a 92 litre "Tropical"......an orange one.........approx 1000mm x 500 x 500.......not been away with it yet,but used it NYE for all the drinks at home........bagged ice lasted until Jan 5,and that's with kids and hung-over adults in and out all that time ........got it at Christies camping, reckon less than $200.The best esky I've ever had though, probably too big for your application, was an old bar fridge......given up the ghost..........had a fridgey mate take the motor / compressor / gas out of it.......took the shelves from the door, replaced with a marine ply sheet (varnished / sealed) and filled the void in the door with "expanding foam"........now that was an esky!..........I took it to a mates shack on the river one year......some-one "borrowed it"

I Agree with live fibre, the mt8144 is a great stick and i have had one for at least 6-7 years now and it has taken alot of abuse even from monster rays that wouldnt budge! I love it and if it ever breaks I wont hesitate to get a new one the same day I also have a wilson super graph 12 ft and i love this rod as well i have found i can get big baits out where i want them with some sort of control! As live fibre said my 8144 is matched to a penn 950 spinfisher ssm and personally i think being matched with "old school" heavier surf reels is the go with this one! whereas the super graph being lighter i have it matched at the moment to my thunnus 6000 until I Have enough cash to buy a lighter surf style reel, The point being the 8144 is heavier so having a heavyish reel on it doesnt matter whereas tha graph style rods if you put a heavy reel on it you are cancelling out one of the best attributes of that style rod which is its lightweight. Thats just my opinion and preference, many others will like using diffe3rent style combos and its just up to you to find over time your best/ most favoured surf combo.

Live Fibre rods are constructed from carbon fibre,fibre-glass "strands" and resin.......light and strongMT8144 is "old school" 8 sheets of fibre-glass sheet, formed over a mandrel ( looks a bit like a steel 8 ball cue )8144 is a real stump-puller,very reliable and will handle "most abuse".........very heavy after a long session, and a bit like a broomstick in action compared to an equivalent length / rated Live Fibre.........nice rods.I have 3 MT8144 rods, and love'em..........one with a SpinFisher 9500SS,one a 651 Alvey and one running an ABU 10,000.....all spooled with 30lb mono..........all "old school" heavier type reels. In this day and age, with reels being lighter etc, perhaps your Live Fibre might be the go As for which is better, well, that's a personal choice.........my 8144's are 20 years+ in age,and fishing time available to me,and funds don't really allow / warrant an upgrade ..........not that I would;if it ain't broke, don't fix it

popularity wise.. of course some shinny new diamond encrusted 5000000ballbearing spinning real with a million$$ of advertisement behind it will outsell the good old fashioned hand winch that the alvey is Alveys key points are its suitability to robust fishing styles such as beach and rocks. as for its its casting ability, really is amazing in comparison to my spinning reals. My thoughts about your casting abilities with an alvey... you need some work if you cant out cast an overhead/spinning real with a suitably set up alvey and its matched rod.Alveys dont have the gloss of a modern day real. they dont need it. those who understand them and their attributes will keep fishing them for a long time to come. they are a real that takes some work to master, but then again so is an over head. id never even consider an overhead as a beach/rock fishing option. then again i dont have much use for one in my arsenal. nor the time put into their use.

I saw them in a store in Phucket earlier this year......I just laughed at it, and the proprietor got quite offended  Bought some crap from him just to "smooth things over" as I was just in there looking anyway........spent about $30 AU which was a "weeks sales" for him Got 2 spools of PowerPro 30lb braid,300m, for $20 AU......still in the cupboard!...........the other 10 bux worth of crap,I just gave to 2 kid's looking in the shop window and dreaming..........hooks,floats,line etc......they thought all their Christmas's had come at once .......was great to see their smiles though, true thankfulness

That's pretty disappointing to hear When I was at Port Vincent in August I noticed a whole lot of Snapper heads/frames laying at the bottom of the shallow water adjacent to the pub. They were quite obviously young/juvenile and definitely not legal size. Made me pretty cross. I also get cranky when I see these sort of things. I see it happen ALL TOO OFTEN being a land-based fisherwoman particularly with crabs. I always carry a couple of extra crab measures with me and let people know if they are doing the wrong thing. Sometimes it can be intimidating though, a lot of fisherMEN are very....chauvenistic dinosaurs who still see fishing as a man's sport and don't enjoy a woman questioning them (BITE ME). It's a shame. It's people like that who ruin it for everyone.I have on more than one occasion given Fishwatch a ring because of the number of tiny crabs (or berry-carrying females) I have seen being kept and unfortunately, while they are happy that I called them, they were not able to send anyone out. Understaffed volunteer-wise. Every time I catch a fish I end up second guessing myself. Went through the "is it a juvenile salmon or a tommy" phase a while back. Thank goodness for the yellow decoration....

Mate i dont think it is a cop out or a load of crap ,these fish spawn during the months around when the ban is on ,if you remember uhf put up a video of himself catching a descent snapper before the ban was in place ,you have 11 months of the year to target this species ,1 month out of 12 is a small price to pay for the survival and health of a fish species ,if we didnt have a ban on catching them at this time of the year do you think you would have been able to pull those crackers you did last year in the port ,personnaly id support a 3 month ban on the taking of these fish at this time of the year,go down to the ramp on friday and see how many boats are out then go back on sat/sun and see how many boats are out ,youll be lucky to get a park 1 months ban is nothing ,but it might just give this species a chance ,and to get back to the original post i suppose it was a pro who chucked the snapper in at sullies .

I think there was a case maybe two years ago where a pro snapper fisherman was taking fish during the ban from a ship in a tinnie to shore to a waiting car he got busted ,the ban has to be there for a reason nan maybe the pros do rape pillage and plunder but we all have to play are part in conservation of this fish species ,i mean cmon mate it is one month big deal, some people carry on as if it has been 10 years i dont understand it.
