  1. Thanks bjorn. Fantastic prizes. I know its not easy to rustle up prizes these days so a big thankyou to fishing wholesalers, fishing sa magazine and of course bjorn @strike hook.
  2. Thanks guys. First year i have tipped ok for along time. Couple of roughies early in the year helped. At least i have got a few tips right because im not getting any fish. Cheers bocky
  3. About 6 years ago i passed through pt headland and stayed in the caravan park. Fished a little creek that flowed out to sea just down from the park and caught a couple of small jacks. Some good fishing in the area though if you have the time and a little bit of local knowledge. Nice area to explore have fun.Cheers Bocky
  4. We have picked up a few localy over the years. Usually off of grange drifting for whiting. mean looking fish we always have returned them.
  5. Thanks mate. Cant find anything saying when they need to be replaced. Does anyone know the regs on when or if they need to be replaced.Cheers Bocky
  6. Ive got a couple of the inflatable vest type life jackets and i was wondering if someone could tell me if and when the gas canisters should be replaced. I was going through some stuff in the boat when i started looking at them and relised that they were nearly 3 years old already. Its something that easily goes unnoticed as i guess like most people i just have them stowed away in the boat somewhere and forget about them. If they do need replacing where are the canisters avalible and what sort of cost am i looking at.Cheers Bocky
  7. I been using the black magics as well and found them to be very good. I think the hook up rate is much better and i will continue to use them. I tried them after seeing them on adventure bound. Love that show they allways have some great tips.
  8. Hi mate. I have dealt with hodge not for a new boat but for a reasonable low hour second hand allycraft. It was about5 years ago and i go back every year to get it serviced. I have found them great. Easy to deal with up front and would recomend them.
  9. Wouldnt use anything else used them for years.
  10. For my whiting i use a Shimano Bantam curado 200b on a shimano xcel weapon. But my favorite rod reel is my Diawa sol 2500 on a live fibre texalium 2-4 kg.And like everyone else the old ugly stick and penn reel combos are never to far away.

  13. Take the boat mate you will kick your self if you leave it home especially if the weather turns out ok. The trip over is easy towing good roads. The best thing is the fishing its great. Make sure you grab some razor fish while your there. Lots of them and bloody huge. Have fun.
  14. Glad to hear im not the only one stuggling this winter. No whiting no snapper juat a few squid. In the last couple of weeks i have had 2 land base and to boat trips for a total of 13 squid. Bring on summer.
  15. I now there not normally a fishing shoe but i use the good old dunlop volley. They have excellent grip and there thin so if they get wet they dry quickly. A common shoe they are cheap and should come in alot of sizes but 15 im not sure thats a bloody big foot.Cheers Bocky
  16. Theres plenty around at the moment mate. Went out Friday and managed our bag within a couple of hours. Also scored a few the week before. I have been out from west beach and just been drifting but i headed north towards the grange tyre reef but i would imagine they would be right through to marino. Been getting them in about 10 to 12m of water. Good luck mate and enjoy the day on the water.cheers bocky

I use the slim beauty knot. I find it cast through the guides well and holds it strengh well. hope this link works.cheers bocky
  19. I like the raiders as well but the ones with the green on them. Retrieve as fast as you can but if thats not working mix it up. Let it sink more, pause and wind anything that will attract the fishs attention. Halco twistes are also good.
  20. Great write up mate. What a ripper of a trip pb kings and trout couldnt ask for much more. The rivr scenery looks fantastic not a bad place to wet a line.
  21. Hey Blighty i got this problem as well. Im in a slightly bigger boat but by the time you chuck in the crab nets Burley buckets drift anchors etc. Theres stuff everywhere. Its something i have learned to live with now and it used to bug the hell out of me to especially when there was a couple of others with me. Im sure the one day i leave something at home its the day im going to need it. So every time i go out it all comes with me. I think over time i have got more organised and everything has its place and its more of an arganised mess. Good luck with the problem mate but theres no easy answe
  22. Yep spent a bit of time at Esperance and its a great place. Havnt been to fanny cove but have been out that way. Roses beach was great massive salmon and skippys. Also went out to some lakes and put a tinny in and caught heaps of bream. The bream were like nothing i ve seen before. All huge 35cm plus and you could catch them on anything, a hook with no bait a jig head anything. In the shallow creeks between lakes they were so thick you could have walked across on them.

    Squid

I think clear water and overcast conditions are the best.
  24. I think bentons got the right idea. We put our catch in a ice slurry to cool them down and kill them humaninly then just to heat them back up in sea water? I think ill stick to the old fashion way by hand. The bag sounds like a great idea but I d rather not risk the catch i d spent hours catching to save 15 mins. We used the bag inside of the bag and i wasnt sure if that was right but thats what your supposed to do according to some friends and not impresive. You learn from your mistakes thats what they say.
  25. I Know this subjects probably been talked about before but i would like your advice. Went out fishing in the boat on wednesday and got a few fish so on the way in decieded to try the new scaling bag. Been fishing in boats for quite a few years now but never used scaling bag before. Bought a bag a few months ago and used it a pt vic with some whiting a worked great. On wednesday used it with some garfish and it smashed them to pieces. Scaled them fine just ripped there heads off and they looked liked they been bashed around alot. Put some tommies in and they didnt gat scaled at all. A friend th
