Hi crab welcome to the site. If your after the big blue swimmers without a boat in pt augusta head over to the shacks and go raking for em at low tide . There are heaps of around at the moment , and be sure to take a saddle cause they're all horses!! . I went a month ago out the front of my shack and caught 30 monsters in just over an hour. If your working at the power house you can see the shacks on the other side of the gulf. They're only a ten minute drive from pa town centre.

NONE!Just don't spook them. And simply follow them. They mainly move in the direction of the water flow. Sometimes they back track from where they came.Berley only brings their competitors in that will strip your bait before the YFW!!! Cheers, Des

I'm sold guys! I hit Tennyson this morning at bottom of tide at 1030 , there were two massive schools of them cruising up and down the sand bars. I used the bassday orange and first cast they swarmed all around it and followed the lure all the way in! Second cast went straight overs the top and out the back of the school , jigging it through the school they went into a frenzy and smashed it ! This was the most fun ive had YFW fishing in years ! I also had a rod holder I've made sitting in the sand bar with another rod baited and sitting in the water , thanks to des's post( finessing) I followed the rig he posted.......THANKS DES! This rig worked a treat.. I've never been so busy fishing , if the baited rod wasn't bending the lure was being smashed... I was like a little child in a candy shop. I was amazed to actually see em jumping out of the water in the school .my first metro bag was had in 1 1/2 hours. I must say using my spotters was definitely helpful in first spotting them on arrival at the beach. I stayed on after my bag was reached trialling the clear bassday lure to less of an affect as yhe orange but still managed to land em. After two hours of fishing it was like school of fish went to lunch and disappeared never to return again the rest of the Arvo . Any how it's fair to say YFW on lures..............BLOODY OATH!!! Now to somehow wipe the smile off of my face. This little camper will definitely be back tommorrow .... After he puts in a split system for his mate..... Boooooooo

That's the ones orange bass days. Went again today to same spot and a big fat donut! Didn't even lose a bait. Only fish I saw was the flounder I stood on... Lol scared the crap out of me. I reckon I walked a km of the beach and didn't see anything. NO LUCK lures or bait.. Still nice being out there though

Tried Pt Gawler this evening. Not a YFW around for all 3 fishers. Only spotted a couple of feeding marks in the whole area. So nothing came in.However before this cold spell there were a few on the 23/09 So after a couple of days of mid 20s temp they will be back. Try on Sunday - Monday evening tide, at Pt Gawler.Metro proper, it will take a few more weeks of mid to high 20s temp to push them further south.Cheers, DesPS. Still further North

The metro shoreline is milkshake brown and I dare say too cold. Sure, dig ya worms local, but best bet would be checking Des's postabout water temps, and head north to the flats.Might even jag some little bronzees wading the shallows.Good luck and be sure to come back to post ya report!

Doesn't matter so much to where you move around as fish are always on the move too. What you need to do is spend lots of time soaking baits. The guys that do have the time will spend 3-4 days a week and 2-3 hours each day trying to catch fish, while the guys that spend 2 hours a fortnight come home more likely unsuccessful.many belong to this club.

All of those spots are worth a go, perhaps pick one or two and fish them as often as you can, get to know them well before trying somewhere new. Remember, fish will be where their food can be found and mulloway are lazy ambush predators. Livebaits can work quite well, but plenty of mullies in that lake have been caught on lures too. I struggled for awhile at West Lakes until I got my kayak which really opened up heaps more opportunities, but people do quite well landbased. Bottom line, put in the time and eventually you should be rewarded.

Hi all,After some advice/ opinions. So today the girl comes home and says she wants to have a chat.! WTF now goes through my head.. To my surprise I'm told that she thinks its a great idea for me to buy a boat. Seeing as I love my fishing and its a pain in the ..... To go to port augusta to use the old mans anytime I want to have a serious fish on the water. I've been tentatively looking for the past two months and showing her photos from boatpoint /boat sales. She's either sick of looking at them and has given in or she just thinks I'm a top bloke that deserves my boat LOL... I have a budget of 25- 28 k or a little more if I finally sell my mustang ( If I sell her though a new patrol will prob replace her ). I'll mainly be chasing reds and whiting , fishing Yorkes, Cowell and metro so throw out the advice guys...Time to get moving before she changes her mind
