I can't believe the panic buying that goes on, as soon as there a sign of covid-19 virus all hell let's loose in the super markets.
We had it on 7news here the day of the new outbreak in SA and people were buying up on toilet paper straight away, empty shelves in no time at all..
What's wrong with just doing a normal shop, I haven't heard that the virus gives you the "trots/runs" so what's with this toilet paper epidemic..
Stay safe there everyone, thinking of you all.. take care.. and let's hope they get on top of it ASAP like they did before..

Was there any doubt Southies lures would not work
Nice couple of trouts too
No doubting them at all doobie he did a great job with them, I added the small red dots to the lure, like I do with most of my trout hard body lures.,
Brayden even tested them before he sent them to me..
cheers

I finally got around to giving one of two of Brayden's hard body lures ( 41mm 4g Brown trout pattern) a go today in the Mersey River in dull overcast conditions and very clear water..
the lure worked a treat picking up a brown & a rainbow trout in quick time.. the fishing was tough today with a low moving in, I did hook and lose two trout on it as well.
They're a great action light weight lure, very impressed with it.. here's a couple of pic;'s..
cheers
Adrian...
The brown was the first that fell to the lure..
Then not long after a rainbow was landed..

Not fishing related but I noticed this big time with my promotional apparel business, hoodies went AWOL across all of my suppliers. Stock started to come in this month with a few suppliers restocking some styles. There will no doubt be a shortage with other gear coming into the warmer months too.
I use all Aussie suppliers but their clothing is all manufactured overseas. If anyone knows of an Aussie manufacturer of apparel please let me know. Most gear although branded Aussie is still manufactured overseas unfortunately.
Bjorn, here's a small Australian owned business here in Northern Tasmania at Spreyton which is near Devonport that makes a variety of clothing.. I know they make school uniforms, work clothes etc.. now making COVID-19 masks as well.. site details below..

I use the lightweight breathable waders here in Tassie, Under my normal fishing clothes I wear merino wool thermal long johns & socks..
With the river temps being around the two degrees here early season one still feels the cold through any waders used. But for Sth Aust and the waders you have bought I sure the merino thermals should be fine throughout the Winter months.. as doobie stated, always wear a belt around your waist too..

This is just a short video clip of a few wild browns that fell to the rainbow coloured Aglia Fluo blade spinner last week.
Cold water (2.5 degrees at times) in the rivers & streams is making the fishing a little tough at the moment.. Once the weather settles and the water temps rise I'm sure the trout fishing will improve week by week..
That last fish of the day made the trip worthwhile..cheers

Thanks Softy, certainly was great to be back in a river that;s for sure.. Not very productive, but still a good day and a relief in catching a couple on the first serious outing for the season,,

Finally got out for my first spin session of the trout season, only managed a couple of browns before the rain set in..
Only a short one hour session in very cold 3 degree water.. The Mepps #0 Aglia rainbow micro pigment did the job..
It was nice to be back in the water chasing trout again.. This video is in 1080p HD..

Thanks Lofty, yes I remember the suffering you've gone through mate and the trouble you're still having to put up with.. it can also put a lot of pressure on those around you as well when we have those off days with it..
Another dumping of snow on the Bluff again last night and a few other places around the state, none here in Sheffield thankfully.. still damn cold here though.. 4.9 degrees at 11:55 am..
cheers

Thanks Bjorn, yes the cold weather doesn't help at all.. it's going to be 6 degrees max here in Sheffield tomorrow, wind chill will make it feel like minus three degrees. .. so I won;t be going outside at all..

Thanks doobie, it's all a long way off at this stage and I know I will benefit from it when it's done..
Hip replacements are pretty common now days and are very successful.. it's the back operation that I'm not all that keen on.. In saying that I am only going by what the doctor said & it will be quite some time before I get to see a surgeon to see what he comes up with, he may turn around and do nothing (as I'll be 76 by then) or find a simple solution.. I've lived with chronic back pain since 1972, waiting a couple more years won't matter all that much, so I'll still squeeze quite a few more trips to the rivers over the waiting time. .
cheers

I'm hoping once the weather settles down I'll be back in a river chasing trout, I'm not pushing myself this early in the season like I normally do..So there's no trout fishing for me yet, I had an appointment this afternoon to be assessed to see how soon I can see a orthopedic surgeon for hip replacements & lower back (L3,L4 & L5 discs) surgery.. Have been given the okay for a visit to the orthopedic surgeon for the hips which will be around twelve months time. As for the back, well that's going to be assessed another time down the track to see another surgeon.. Not in a hurry for the back surgery as they said it may result in three discs being removed & steel rods inserted plus a twelve month recovery.. I'll be trying to hold off on that operation for sure.. I'll just have to be more selective where I fish in a river this season, trouble is the easy to get to waters never hold trout.. My doctor is finally back from overseas so I'll be paying him a few visits for a dose of injections again...
There was a nice dumping of snow overnight on Black Bluff with more forecast, very clear skies up this was tonight too.. more likely a heavy frost than snow here at this stage.
Here's a photo I took this morning from the back yard, I'd sooner it had been a few photos of some trout..
cheers

Just received my 2019/20 Trout Season photo book, this time instead of making a two half yearly books I made a full season one of 134 pages.. I'm pretty happy with the end result..
Here's a few photos of the finished product.. Once again I waited until Snapfish had a 50% sale on that included extra pages.. The book is A4 size...

You're welcome, I'm confident they'll pick up quite a few trout.. You've certainly done a very professional job on them & yes keep that pattern going for sure..
Once I'm back in the rivers you'll see a few photos of trout with the lures hanging out of their mouth..
cheers

Well I just received a couple of special high quality hard body lures today and they certainly look great and beautifully finished..
They're a well presented brown trout lure that I'm sure will suck quite a few trout in next season.. I'm really looking forward to giving them a good workout in the rivers & streams here in Tassie..

Here's another of my videos as the season drew closer to closing... wasn't a bad spin season with a few wild brown trout being caught... At the end of the spin season I said the biggest trout was a 455 gram brown. it wasn't I forgot about the 485 gram brown I caught... Long day in the water, had a brain fade at the end of it..
