I'm not too sure too many people fish IN the Mundoo Channel - a lot of guys launch there but then fish up around the mouth and down towards Tauwitcherie. You might be a chance down there, but check to see what gates are open on the barrages and if there are more than about 40 at Goolwa its not really worth the effort.Anything less and go for it - Mulloway, mullet, salmon trout plus the occasional redfin, flathead, Bream, etc.

Have used circles on floating bread crusts for carp for a number of years with a bit of success........absolute dynamite for when those soft blubbery lips are just mooching the surface, and they get pinned "effortlessly" by a little number 6 Visually stimulating I don't reckon you're talking carp though are you afishyfish..........snapper?

Not really because the rod acts to absorb the shock of a hard strike.

Ive used them successfully with unweighted baits, i can see having them under a float being any different. My thoughts on circles are to have the drag set firm that as the fish takes the bait the drag sets the hook for you.The last time i used them my mate had the same setup but his drag was very loose and he had a good run but the fish dropped the bait before he picked his rod up, i hooked mine 30 seconds later and the fish hooked itself before i picked up my rod due to having a tighter drag.

Headed out at the crack of dawn and fished the morning tide for 3 snapper (only 1 legal) a leather jacket and 7 squid.Plenty of baitfish schools on the sounder even though the big snapper didn't rock up.See how those first 2 weeks in December go?TB

Was on the Port river yesterday morning chasing the elusive Mulloway . Got to the boat ramp to meet a good mate Jack at 4:30am . Headed out to his spot and arrived to realise my rod was not set up properly , spew . So while the fellas cast out there lines i sat there re rigging my line . Was a bit frustrating but i have learnt in the past that this usually works in my favour . Got my line in and was waiting a bit before Jack pulled his line in to check and in doing so pulled it across my line so when i went to reel in my rig was snagged on the bottom ? Busted my line trying to reel in so had to re-rig again . Jack had two lines in and said if the one goes while i was re-rigging my line then to grab it as if it was mine . Just tied the last knot and whammo the drag leaps into screaming life and i jum u and set the hooks . Unfortunately this rod and reel only had 20lb braid on it and this was definitely a decent Mulloway and after 2 min of it peeling line and toying with my it found structure and busted me off , spew ? Baited up my lineand cast out again and about 8min later my line was getting decent nibbles so i struck and with that an eagle ray leapt over 6ft into the air before taking off like a shower of shit peeling my line from my reel a a high rate of knots . Another leap or two and i started gaining line , when i got it boat side and it took of again and then we managed to get it into an undersized net . Awesome fun and thank you heaps again Jack .http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLRht9GIIDw

Cheers AFF, was wondering how you did today. Shame about the reds, but sounds like fun anyway mate! Hey, make sure you say gday to rick for me next time you see him... Reckon we really miss him on the boards... That dude is full of adventures and I still quote him as the only one to give me advice that made a difference when I was trying to catch my first legal mully

lol love it! :clap:I understand its to pump sand to other nearby beaches so they dont have to manually move it with trucks etc.. Im not 100% sure though.. I cant see the benefit to be honest and in the long run will probably do more harm than good..

As the title suggests, feel free to throw up some quick reports on what has and hasn't been happening where. If you've had a adventure to write up in detail, of course let us know on a nice "grab a coffee thread" :woohoo:I'll start this off with an early hours Saturday trip.Port River with couple mates in the tinnie. JIMBO dropped a very nice potential PB Mulloway and later on caught a jumping Eagle ray. Nice mornin, but the Port River is still just firing... Slow today but plenty to look forward too :)Cheers

I'm fine with the "essence" of the idea! It's designed to suck in sand to keep the beaches up to scratch, and naturally I'm all for saving the beaches from erosion. It was pretty poorly thought out and planned though! The local council is up in arms, they didn't consider the pipes would stand out as they do, and it's considered quite an eyesore for what is probably our our most attended metro beach close to the city.

I couldn't believe what I was reading when I saw this! yet another stupid decision by the government..and no public consultation, If I lived in Glenelg I'd seriously consider moving because of this. What gets me though, is looking at that photo its pretty obvious there was more than enough room to run the pipes under the jetty! :blink:I feel ashamed to admit it but I think Adelaide Living Beaches is one of my department's projects..Im going to do some digging round on Monday

Good info Grazz - and a good discussion by everyone. As well as the issues you've all been talking about, the problem I have with the whole concept is the fact that 18,000,000 kg of wild fish would be taken from the Aust Marine environment every year and sold overseas for just $1 per kilo. The first 15,000,000 kg have to be sold to pay for the cost of actually catching them. It was reported that pro fishermen who sell their quotas to Seafish Tas would be paid $0.10 per kg. Makes no sense and devalues the marine environment that we manage. If this is such a great economic idea why not use farmed Basa for the purpose?2 cents...Cheers,RJ
