Would be the bomb if Underpants can bring some of his bonza bbq sauce.
Gonna be an early start for us northern folks.
He'd need to bring lots of it, but then, maybe just enough for us important people
Might be an early start for you, but all worth it
And his Homebrew! Maybe Bjorn could bring his too??? The Strike and Hook Brew... Every fishos favourite beer.
At this stage I'm a no show , but if things change I'll drive down and help out on the BBQ, unless things really change and I can get down early to fish...

The usual local rock fishing targets for me.
Bream 45+cms would be nice
Flathead 60+cms
Snapper, legal
Gar and Squid
My Dads coming over from Pommieland to celebrate his 75th in a couple of weeks, so hoping to get him onto some thumper Bream locally and some decent Callop as we celebrate his birthday with a few days at the River.

Great feed mate. Looks restaurant quality.

No fishing here either. To much other stuff getting in the way.
A mismatch of time/weather plus leave pass credits in the negative .
Have put down a Pilsner & Marzen for summer ..... slowly bubbling away at 10deg!
Sounds Like a Strike Hook Day is to be had around that day! What ya Think Bjorn, Softy
Going to have to get my shite together and get a full mash brew down.
Strike and Hook beer tasting day!

Well done Alex. Looks like a cracking holiday. Great photos and video. Love the footage of the Salmon chasing and hitting your hookless slug.

Haven't had a flick in the salt water for over a month. Might try and squeeze a LB session this evening and if all goes to plan the Tinny will get wet in the Port River tomorrow morning!

41 in the comp this year.. Should be a good one!
Not for me if round 1 is anything to go by. 4!

Yummo. Nice and simple too. Gotta love that ! There's certainly is something special about cooking on fire.
Definitely! Been using charcoal for just about everything recently.Either in the webber closed for roasting etc... or in the webber open as in the photo. Love it.

So I don't usually keep Bream, but a nice sea run specimen makes for a very tasty meal. This one was caught on Saturday morning, marinated in lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, chilli, oregano, salt and pepper during the day and then cooked over charcoals that evening. Was absolutely beautiful. Outdoor cooking... with beer in hand... oh yes.

Hi Bjorn/Weaver.
What's happening with this comp? Are you guys still checking photos/reports? Happy to suggest a few.
Cheers.

Hi mate, I use a 1000 Symetre and a 1000 Sienna on my Bream/Flathead/Whatever set ups and love them both. I've had a Sedonna FD(?) 1500 for donkeys years and it's still going strong. For what you want, reliability, and the price I'd recommend any of these. Can't comment on any other brands as I don't use them and sounds like you know about these reels anyway. If you somehow manage to kill a Sienna it doesn't cost much to replace it.

As mentioned Garden Island is a good ramp and free, OH ramp is much steeper and had a few sizeable holes when I last used it, but it is free, Snowdens a good ramp but has a fee ($7 I think). All these places have a bad rap for cars being broken into while you're out fishing. You can launch from the beach at Snowdens for free from the boat club ramps, but you will need to drive on the beach at certain times of the tide. If you find you like beach launching then Largs yacht club is a good spot, also free.
Good luck and have a good time.

Great video Weaver.

Great work Alex. Some cracking Bream there. Cheers.

Thanks for the replies lads. This is an old post from 2014. The worms that I preserved this year turned out pretty good using the metho method. Thanks Brenton for the brining over night method.

So what's better or best for the following? (and I'm just 'throwing' in strengths for the below)
Gar/YFW/tommies/Mullet etc.....main line mono (6kg) with mono leader (2kg)
(so just looking at general beach and jetty fish)
Hi doobie.
I'd lighten up that main line mono a bit to 4lb-8lb (approx. 2-4kg) for those species listed. If you prefer to stay with mono then run it straight through, ie your main line is your leader all the way through. The less knots, swivels, attachments and weight the better, in my opinion. My preference is to run braid (4-8lb) to flouro (at the same or slightly higher line strength) attached by a double uni knot on my set ups for species you listed and others such as Bream and Flathead.
Good luck.
OH and NH breakwalls - access?

Yeah that's it mate. The CYCSA is not to shabby for a coldie too.
Good luck off the stones if you go out.
