Nice work Alex. Probably pull horse over 50cm next time and skip the 40's altogether. Good luck.

Good day all,
I've got a few live tube worms that I can't use this weekend. Has anyone got a good method to preserve them. I thought salting them would be good, but not to sure of the best way to do this. I've preserved bloodworms in metho previously, but wasn't to impressed with the way they turned out. Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers.

Yeah my go to jag is eyeless and featherless too. The eyes on these 2 were still on them before the make over. Shouldn't be to hard to find eyes as on the black jag from craft shops and the like.

Most of my gear is at the cheaper end of the market and 75% of my fishing is landbased targeting the species you've listed, and a few others. The two lighter setups I use are Shimano Bream Dynamix 2-4kg with a Shimano Sedona 1500, and a Berkley Venom Death Adder 2-4kg with a Shimano Sienna 1000. I rate both of these rods, and the reels are more than capable of coping with the fish you've listed. I'm not sure if you can still get the Bream Dynamix (R&As). I picked up the Death Adder second hand from a site member and would highly recommend it.

Nice to chat to you Zorgs, sorry we didn't let a few more through mate.
The pool net was OK, but the extendable inner tube has nothing to stop it falling out apart from pressure/ bend in the pole, so had to let the wider ones go to save losing the net end! Was our first time too and will definitely be up for it next year. Hope you ended up with a few.
Some crazy cats out there in their boats, some lit up like Xmas trees and others with a torch and no other lights at all! Nearly had the older couple on the rocks with us at one point!
Vino and Octopus goes down well!

G'day all. Haven't contributed much lately due to a serious lack of fishing.
But I have been following this thread and after missing the last 2 runs I was keen to have a go last night. Met up with Vxman in the OH car park by the platform about 8.30pm. The lads on the platform said it had been very slow, but they were just starting to get a few. So we found a decent spot on the rocks and had the torches illuminating the surrounding water for anything that looked wormy! It was slow, but we were picking up a few here and there and having a bit of a laugh as I tried to perfect the technique without losing my very dodgey pool net and/or fall in. Had a slow but steady flow for about an hour, but after that they really slowed down so we gave it up about 10.30pm. Probably would've picked up a few more, but there was a flotilla of small boats scooping like crazy just up river from where we were. Honed the netting skills so well I managed to scoop up a little Occy that was cruising around!
We had beautiful conditions last night and it was a great way to spend a couple of hours, learnt a few things for next time and got a couple sessions worth of bait so all good!

Well done lads! Good to see all your efforts paying off.

Yeah I use double Uni as well for all my lighter lines (4-8lb) and use the Albright with the heavier lines (15-30lb). Never had any problems with either.

Yeah great read Dylbaa and good to hear the SS Banga has got a new lease of life.

Just got told, by her indoors, that my crazy "I'll eat anything" Beagle just scoffed a tube of S-factor!!! She managed to get it out of my track pants pocket along with the measuring tape I use. Missus said the laundry stank, like 'made her gag' stank! Glad she didn't eat the tape too, that would've been fun retrieving that in a couple of days! So not just a fish attractant it seems!
By the way the dog is fine, she has a cast iron stomach and this is certainly not the worst thing she has eaten!

Never tried it, but thickening up tuna oil with corn flour (or similar), add a bit of powdered garlic/curry powder/five spice or whatever and you'd have a paste you could stick in a little jar and use as you'd use S-factor. I might have go at this next time the missus is not in the kitchen.

We were out there after you mate, and would've been fishing the beach side as you came back, red rugby top, blue beanie, good looking bloke, lol .
It can be worth the long hop, but generally not with tides like Sundays. People have lots of different theories about those rocks the only way to know for sure is to put the time yourself. Years ago, with better knees, I would regularly walk to the end in the warmer months and had some cracking sessions and some not so good ones!
-
Yeah Zorgs, that was probably us. Did we see you?

Vxman and myself soaked some big baits off the local rocks on Sunday morning. No luck at all, but that's not surprising considering the dodgey tides! So we changed tactics mid morning and started berleying for Gar and slowly started to get a few keepers. Vxman was expertly picking out all the undersize ones and much to my amusement dropping all the legals he caught before getting them on ice! Managed to get a small feed of "dodgey" Gar on a slow but enjoyable morning.

Rockwall session planned for Sunday morning. Tides are looking dodgey, but still hoping to get a feed.

One of the most memorable for me was my son catching a Kingfish off the Tumby Jetty, 10+ years ago. Fried the crappy reel mid fight and we ended up hand lining it onto the planks! He had bragging rights for way to many years!

A couple of young lads fishing the same spot as me landed a decent Bream on KFC Popcorn Chicken!

Cheers Bjorn and Mods,. Thanks for organising the competition. Some crazy good fishing reports, info and ideas. Boomas photos would grace any fishing magazine anywhere in the world! It is what I liked so much about this site many years ago reading all the fishing reports, stories, photos, sucesses and doughnuts. I really enjoy writing reports, means I can relive my fishing experiences when I'm at work! Massive thank you to everyone who donated the prizes! Cheers PP.

11 great reports, plus Rotare should put his epic report in here! Are we voting as in past comps for the Chicken dinner?

Great video Rotare. That's some serious fishing! Look forward to the rest of the report.
Blue Crabs four ways.

So I was lucky enough to get a few crabs last time I went out.
Now although the crab limit has come down to 20, the number of family members in my household has halved too, to two, so that works out quite nicely. Blueys are the wifes favourite, which means I get forced to go fishing!!!. We usually have a feed with crusty bread and beers on the first night and then Singapore chilli crabs for the next night and if there's and left over after that I pick and pickle them.
This time we tried a few other recipes and had crab four ways over four nights.
The standard, and my absolute favourite.
Singapore Chilli crab looking good.
Goan Crab curry. Not the best pic' but this was fantastic.
And last Crab Chowder, yummo.
The Bluey, bloody beautiful! Cheers
