One of my mates is dead keen on this, so I will be joining in the fun.
Only fished the Onk a few times, and learning the way of things there, so doubt I will win any prizes for biggest fish.
Having said that, the more you fish, the more you catch, and sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time.
Looking forward to it.

That's right Tinker, can't stop the forces of Mother Nature mate...
-
treefrog reacted to Tinker in Before & After the flood photos..
Unbelievable at times the power of nature's fury.
We are seeing it here in SA, it is like the rivers are spring cleaning.
Just a shame for the folks who suffer loss because of these floods, and the animals that perished because of them.

treefrog reacted to Meppstas in Before & After the flood photos..
Yes, it certainly changed the Mersey River from top to bottom...

This was Dynan's Bridge at Weegena, Mersey River.
The Mersey River at Kimberley some 20 kms downstream from Weegena.
The Mersey River on private property that I fish at Weegena..
The Mersey River at Weegena where I cross over..
Mersey River at Merseylea 500 meters from where the bridge was.
Massive change to the Mersey River above where Dynan's Bridge once was at Weegena.
Most of the foliage has been washed away on this corner of the Mersey River.

beautiful!!! ummm vintage reels ARE worth quite a bit. im unsure of prices etc.. but Def worth a look!

treefrog reacted to ausea in would an old original alvey be worth much - pics included
If you are selling it .....What i’d do is put it on ebay for 7 days and watch it’s progress. If it looks like not much interest during the last day then remove it from sale and try elsewhere. An indication is having a look at the number of watchers on the item.A few weeks back i seen a wooden seamartin on there and expected to see it sell around $200 but it sold $870.Good chance the wooden alvey reel is worth something.

I quite often check the alveys on ebay jack thats where i picked up a brand new boat reel for 50 dollars never been used ,the wooden ones depending on condition and age dont really sell for large amounts ,if you can read the inscriptions on the back you can email bruce or glen alvey and they will tell you exactly when it was made ,the spools where made from silky oak cedar and camphor laurel (smells like vicks when you turn it ) which is now considered a weed in queensland go figure? just google ebay alvey reels and you will see the range on there .

I have an old alley reel which I haven't been able to date accuretly but going by the Australian standards logo ita early to mid 70's ita still in its original box with original instructional leaflet and never been used it still has the paper tape around the spool, I've been curious to know what value this holds? Ita a really awesome collectable.

Glad you like it mate. Always happy to help anyone out... if i sold people crap and not suited for them then we wouldn't have customers come through.
Comments like that make me enjoy my job even more.
