have to agree with boondog.. snyderglas all the way for me... had my 8144 for over 20 yrs, and the big daddy C'MERE 7153 snyderglas.. matched with alvey..

sounds like you got the rod and reel covered.. as for the line, for rocks forget braid.. i spooled the alvey with braid, then took it off and binned it the next day after one trip.. braid and rocks dont go together one bit.. prob ok for the beaches, but falls apart on sharp rocks.. cant even remember the name of the stuff i used, but was a name brand... sticking to mono for rocks from now on.

headed out whyalla waters yesterday... by passed the normal haunt where bagging out is almost regular, because we heard of some bigger whiting being caught, so went for a look.didnt get as many , but 14 isnt too bad i guess...for the first time EVER.. i beat my bro on the whiting.. but he certainly kicked my butt in the size of fish.. , so whats a guy to do? OF COURSE... steal the fish for a photo,who wouldnt..final tally was 8 - 6 my way, but he got 3 over 40cm.not one fish under 39cm.. with the biggest going 47cm... he caught it on handline, and thought he was playing a dogshark..

here are some from pt Broughton we bagged out with kg`s to 46cm then got into the yellow fin up to 34cm had to work for them as a lot of small one around!

Not only big whiting fella, but caught in Whyalla waters is amazing. Sort of fish you get way down the gulf below Port Neill. Good effort.

I saw that pic Sam on channel 10 and commented on facebook to a few friends that it was a great shot Pleasure to meet the photographer Thanks guys for all your replies.For my shot it was a 15second exposure, I use an intervalometer and set the camera up to continuously take a shot after each exposure is finished. I set the lens to infinity, and had the F-stop at f6.3. I also watch the storms to see where the greater number of strikes are and tend to go for that. Sometimes difficult with the storms moving away from you, but when they are headed straight for you, it's easy to do

For my lightning photos, i just set the shutter speed to lowest setting (around 5secs on mine) . And take random shots in the direction of said lightning. Took at least 50 shots (if not more) to get that ONE.Missed so many better shots by milliseconds.Cheers.Sam

oh it aint no bronzie thats for sure... its a whitey... a look at the side fin and that black eye is all you need to know its a whitey.. not a huge one, but yeah definate whitey.....

probably phosperous you could smell.. thats why when its lightning and raining the grass grows better... the rain collects the stuff as its in the air.. last year we had a massive bolt hit a 300 tonne press we have outside our workshop.. we were 20 mtrs away and scared crap out of us.
