  1. Need to know what the reel is, if its not a reel designed for casting you may find it very hard. Also are you running mono or braid Cheers Yorky
  2. Ooo they are available now then? Did look the goods in the promo shots but never actually seen them. The Isomes are certainly pretty good. Whereabouts can you get them? Compleat Angler Moonta & Wallaroo have them, not that close but can always check with them on postage Cheers Yorky
  3. I'm a tub man as well, 6 pack esky in the tub to keep bait & drink cold, tray with spare tackle i.e. soft plastics, poppers, hard bodies & rigs, belt for pliers & knife. tub is also good to bring fish into so they don't drop off when unhooking. I also take a floating creel with me to keep the fish fresh/alive, just have to watch for the crabs sneaking up to steal my catch Cheers Yorky
  4. Had the handle on the reel in 3 days Yorky
  5. My son had to replace the handle on his Stradic & it was $9.55 cheaper through the local tackle shop than it was direct from Shimano. Tackle shop deals with Shimano all the time so gets better prices, good shop will pass some of the savings on to customers, more of a reason to shop local Cheers Yorky
  6. Hi All When next in Moonta call into Compleat Angler and check out the size of the trophy won by Sharon Woman's Angling Club, Club Champion 2013/2014 Congratulations Sharon Cheers Yorky
  7. I should have elaborated a bit more, the stinger I have used on plastics was a small treble with one of the hooks pushed into the tail end of the plastic, this helped me get some snook when they were biting the tails off of my squidgies Cheers Yorky
  8. Just leave a little slack line between the jig hook & the stinger to allow the plastics tail to work cheers Yorky
  9. yep rod butts forward & don't travel with the reels attached as the extra wind drag will just put unnecessary stress on rods, reels & tie downs. if your putting them in a tube put them in rod bags first (1 per bag) to stop damage to the rod finish from rubbing Cheers Yorky
  10. Compleat Angler Moonta & Wallaroo have them in stock, if you can't get there check out their online store Yorky
  11. from the yp, lived here my whole life, have caught some ripper land based fish & sharksYorky
  12. squidlingused to fish the magazine quite often 20 odd years ago, my pb snapper of 27lb came from the rocks there. worst weather for fishing was the best weather for fishing i.e. 30knot winds, pissing with rain, freezing cold but all worth it when your rod bent over, back then 18-23lb snapper were common. Still the odd one pulled from there but not like it used to be, but then where is?Yorky
  13. Compleat Angler at Moonta & wallaroo have them in a catalogue at the moment $59, available in red, blue green. black & pink.they do phone & online ordersYorky
  14. I caught a 16lb red from point riley land based in 2006 using crab rigged as in my previous postYorky
  15. I have used rock crabs for bait land based with success but was a fair while ago when there was more snapper to be had.I used a single 6/0 octopus style hook & put the hook in at the rear leg & out at the rear of the crab between the rear legsWARNING: take care, this really pisses them off when liveYorky
  16. I use octopus style hooks for snapper, mainly gamakatsu. I use sizes 4,6,or 8 depending on area being fished. I stick to the even number size hooks so that I'm not carrying every size hook (i.e. if I wanted to use a size 5 I would use a 4 or 6)Yorky
  17. I always get my gear from the tackle shop, that way I know what I'm getting even if it sometimes costs a little more.I don't want to loose fish of have gear fail just cause I bought cheap, when fishing is my passionthis is how I amYorky
  18. more gear on that belt than Batman's.I use a belt when beach or rock fishing but usually only has bait bucket, knife & pliers. the other gear is with my tackle bagYorky
  19. not just other fisherpersons, a couple of weeks ago I went to Simms cove at 6:30am, was fishing for an hour 1/2 or so when down came some swimmers & started swimming alongside (10m) of where I was casting, this was where I had burleyed (only pellets) so I didn't want to move. pretty soon they were in front of me. when I called out & told them I had hooks out where they were they replied that I shouldn't be fishing where people were swimming. I pointed out that there was only me & them on the whole beach & as I was there first they could have chosen somewhere a little further aw
  20. Comleate Angler Wallaroo & Moonta get my hard earnedyou walk in the shop and are always greeted by friendly staff. Their staff are all fisherpeople, have great product knowledge, great area knowledge and are across all types of fishingand no I don't work there nor am I affiliated with them in any way, They are my local, I get good advice, their well stocked and their prices are very good, that is why I give them a good plug and don't hesitate to recommend them to anyoneI still look at other places (addict) but they need to have what I want need at a bloody good price before I would even co
  21. Southie's on the moneyI have boxes, bags & traysI have a tackle box for the boat, I have a backpack for the rocks, I have a different backpack for the beach, I have yet again a different backpack for the jetty then I have a largish tray that goes in a backpack or fits onto a tub when I'm wading, aaaannndd I have a very large tackle box which just has spare gear in it for top upsthere are a lot of the same item in each kit but it saves me pulling thinge out of one to put into another depending where I'm fishing, I just pick up whichever to go whereevermost of the people I fish with think I'
  22. I'm with the ABU crowd, 6000, 6500, 7000, 7200, 9000, 10000. have them, use them, love them; But no braid in the surf for meYorky
  23. The only problem I see with the possession limit is that, as usuall any change be it size limit, bag limit & now possession limit it only affects the people who do the right thing/obey the rules anyway. the people that catch as many as they like of what ever size they want & keep the lot will continue to do this so will not be affected because the rules are not policed enoughAs has been said many times before, we need more fisheries officers & they need to be out there when the people are out thereYorky
  24. have a look at the holiday specials from Compleat Angler in the Site Supportors section, no need to buy no name ebay crud gear with those pricesYorky

    Ballooning

when ballooning off the jetty a mate of mine started using light coloured balloons at night & put one of the 50mm glow sticks in the balloon. it made it stand out like the proverbial from a fair distanceYorky
