what the :c is going on in our society nowadays, a couple like trouta and his missus can't even go fishing without a bunch of morons getting their kicks out of throwing dangerous missiles from 5 stories high without a hint of concern for the safety of complete strangers! And Why?? because the dogooders of our generation have tied the hands of parents, teachers, police and anything associated with the responsibilities of educating our youth from enforcing any type of punishment that can be used to teach our kids right from wrong without risk of being pulled before the courts as so called child abusers for nothing more than a smack on the bum. They can get away with bullying, swearing, vandalism, fighting etc. with nothing more than a 10min timeout in the naughty corner as punishment!!! They have no respect for adults because they get treated like adults instead of naughty little kids and soon learn that they can get away with this behaviour and suffer no consequence to make them think twice next time they step out of line! Its out of control and the last 10 years have reflected the lack of respect a small percent of our teens have for there teachers, parents and police who have lost all the rights past generations used to keep our children under control!! ( these unruly groups are still the minority, I believe there is more good than bad in this generation of youths today but sadly in years to come in may not be the minority it once was, Adelaide is becoming a scary place to be especially at night in the city, i've been witness to that first hand!) rant over ... cheers snake

After many years of fishing the Breakwater,Torrens Island and Port in general..............advising people of the law and their moral obligations to our fisheries..........having been told to F$@% off,P@!% off, threatened with knives on several occasions and shot at once............I reckon it's time for me to mind my own business, and let the (lack of) authorities go about their business.I'm well and truly over the "no speak English" brigade, ferals and the outright wankers, to bother about putting my own safety at risk.I have always, and always will obey the rules and regs.......no matter how "harsh" they may seem ( especially now as I enjoy the shark scene.........thankfully not local, but on Yorkes ).......but they are there for a "reason"..........always knowing that in the back of my mind, the first time I "flaunted the rules",I would get busted........meanwhile,the "rest" go on their merry way.Sometimes, having a conscience is a bitch

Was fishing for a bit at west lakes near west lakes blvd on sat and sun arvo. Managed to catch and release some undersize KG whiting, mullet and bream. Pulled in a few tommies and even live baited a shittie. On Sunday managed to catch and release a 26cm bream. All in all a mixed bag and at least they were biting. What disgusted me though were the people around us dumping rubbish either in the water or on the bank when a bin was less than 20m away.Even worse was the taking of undersize fish by everyone around us. There were bream and whiting pushing 20cm that were being thrown in buckets. This was on both days fishing. When I approached some other fishers to inform them that there are legal size limits on the fish they were catching, I was politely told to "mind my own business". It shits me that it is so easy for these people to get away with what they are doing all too frequently. (saw same family on both days).Do these people not understand how to fish for the future?

Good topic Jack,I don't use bait or lures for my Mullies. I prefer to use the flyrod as I find I can mimic the bait that mullies feed on so much better. It also helps to have some of my prawn flies handy too :laugh:The proof The weapon Cheers Dazz

Howdy hookstersJIMBO hit the Murray mouth last night and met me at Snowdens ramp at 610am. We launched into a beautiful port morning and had a nice long run up river to a good dropoff infront of.some flats. Live bait caught, livebait rigged and we were away :)Not long before we noticed bait fish leaping out the water on the flats, so motored around to muscle in on the action. Nothing came of it unfortunately. But loads of gar and sts and shitties. ;)Phase two another big run to catch the north arm tide.Live bait was the go with Jimbo onto a good run early, but it wasn't to be two more runs and unmistakable tailbeats. Never got to turn its head. Was pretty frustrating to watch, so I rigged up a shitty on my back up rod. The tide was moving a bit too well, so I put a 6/0 through thee tip lip and the second 6/0 free as a stinger. Bzzzzzzz, she went off, my first run on a shitty I got done same as Jimbo. :c spewin!Jimbo fishes out of gear and I fish in gear, and both of us missed out in similar ways, so maybe the fish were just not taking a bait cleanly like I'm used too. Big shame Ive lost a bit of form for jimbos double port river trip, but I like to think he had a good ride in thee WARPIG and a decent sight see too.We hit the main river high, northarm and swan alley. We actually saw two mulloway, jimbo had like 6 hookup runs over the two days, but we just couldn't get one in the boat..... Well that's fishin ;)EPILOGUE : THE RESCUEI was so determined to get jimbo (me ) a jewie, that I stayed anchored up till the tide was fully hardcore racing, pumping like it sometimes does through the northarm. As we left, I noticed a couple people in a canoe seemed to be pushed up against the mangroves. I motored slow and went to check where the paddlers were before jumping on the plane...... O oh, no paddlers. Then I saw them pressed up hard against a wreck, IN the water. I figured they would right the canoe and get going. We were drifting hard now ourselves .Since they weren't righting themselves, we closely motored over and yeld 'youse okay?' answer came back 'Nup'.There was no way they were getting back in that canoe, so sea rescue team Jack&JImbo went into action. It was way harder to do than I would've thought. We were drifting, so I told em my plan and motored ahead, put the boat in reverse and just held in the current with my stern facing the.hapless couple. As the came close I put the engine outta gear and they soon reached my stern before the boat picked up drift again.Still had.to.get the buggers in, so I through a rope and manned the controls watching our drift cautiously as 1st mate.jimbo hoisted the passengers aboard. ladies first and then the canoes captain We emptied as much water out of the canoe as we could and towed it back to garden island. Two things mention:1. A dude up on the plane while staring at us pull the couple aboard.... Well done tool, as if it wasn't hard enough anyway :angry:2. In Angus inlet, two boats overtook me. I was going slow, but it's only 7knots anyway and the first skipper forced me.to change.course and then wash about in his wake. Bad driving dude... Seriously I AM Majorly sick of fair weather fools our there. he thought he was a bit special in his glass boat..... Well, perhaps it's best I didn't retrieve at garden island cos we would have had proper words :angry:FINALLY, our happy couple disembarked at garden island. Lovely couple they were too. AFTER jimbo stopped hitting on the.dudes mrs , I showed her pictures of my kids and we all had a laugh on our way back. They do the paddle often, but the tide stuffed em today, and I can see how things could easily go wrong for anyone in that rip. After a handshake the guy goes "lucky for plastic money" and gave me a. $fifty$. I tried to refuse, but he wouldn't have it back.Good run all the way to Snowdens. On the highway on the way home I thought "where's that $fifty$. So I pulled on the.shoulder incase it was in the boat lol.WHAT DO YOU KNOW, THE CANOING COUPLE SAW Me ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THOUGHT I HAD BROKEN DOWN AND STOPPED TO HELP. How good it that. I gave.em.a thumbs up and was soon home to face the music from MY Mrs."SO WHATS YOUR EXCUSE THIS TIME??? "She said :laugh:I just showed her.this picture of mine and Jimbos new best mates :)REMEMBER people, a little bit of GOOD Karma goes a long long way.

Apparently the Manta Rays that so many people travel to see at Ningaloo Reef in W.A.are under threat because their dried gill rakers are worth a packet to the Chinese. These majestic creatures migrate from our waters to Indonesian waters and are being ruthlessly slaughtered as I type. Is there a creature on this planet that these people don't think cures erectile dysfunction? Happy Australia day.

My Live baits are always fished in Gear with fighting drag dialled in.Ie the hooks set immediately as it goes to swim off with the bait. The reel has the drag set ready to fight fish. The only disadvantage if you where mulloway fishing and sitting on land is you would have to hold your rod. On the boat we can put in A STURDY rod holder provided we trust that the rod holder won't get bent and the rod subsequently pulled out and pulled into the water. The other thing I forgott to mention is the spacing of the two circles. I have em spaced about 10cm apart but you could space them up to 15cm for whole live big mulletForgett runs...when using circles, when theyve bit theyve been hooked. Dont strike, just let your rod load up, slow lift and baam your on!

Amazing! 11 pages and going... although everyone is and has put up good arguments over the pros and cons of shark fishing on metro jetties and the beurocrats will in the end - have their way one way or the other,I'm going to dumb it down a bit and although some might not agree - and thats your choice - give you one mans opinion...1. The old fella that took it upon himself to use his age and "local-ness" to abuse the shark fisherman for fishing on "his jetty"???? - broke the law.......If you are angry about life for whatever reason - see a therapist! dont take it out on others....If you approach anyone - abuse them - touch their personal property - and threaten?? That is breaking the law.... can just imagine what would have happened if the tables were turned and the sharko did that to the old man! Anyway - the story goes the "local" police knew the old man and so decided to "believe" and take his side and overlook what happened? why? Because he is old???? frail??? a respected member of the community??? (again my opinion sounds like the police need to go back to police school and re-learn the rules)....2. Bronze whaler shark - diet - fish, squid, offal... White pointer shark - diet - seals, dolphins, fish, other sharks, whales, offal...Fact: In the fiji islands shark fisherman use "rattles" to lure sharks (a stick with coconut shells cut in half and piled on top of eachother) then sort of "shuck shucked" in the water and it brings them to the boat - sounds like a fish thrashing or a (SWIMMER splashing) sends them crazy....The point here is that the sharks will first be lured to the commotion in the water by the swimmers - they will "feel" the vibrations and come in for a look....(that is what a shark does).....BUT

emufingers, your lucky i dont wanna be banned of this site cause otherwise id lose my shit at you.you should be worried about some sick freak taking your grandchildren from the beach, not a shark attacking them,as i said so many time our baits are normally over 300m out, we normally dont burley (with fish) if we do its very minnium around sunset.your life guards are the ones that are always rude to use, paddle across our lines when they know that they are there, yet we have never touched or had a go at one of them, which is very tempting to do when my line and trace is worth over 140 bucks.you can think your a big man for this ban shark fishing debate, but i cant afford a boat and people like you are trying to take what i love doing away? just because theres a few harmless bronze whalers swimming around, we should just start going down to the jetty and smashing pills and beers seems like we wouldnt get abused for thatwhata joke all this crap is!

ok guys and girls where to begin.sorry that i havnt been following this post because i am computerless at the moment... hahai am not afraid to say that the news report was referring to me about the angler who pulled a knife. yes that was me and a mate down there but its not how the media would have it seem. me and a mate arrived at normanville around 6 oclock in the arvo an old guy was fishing the jetty that i had met a few nights ago while a bunch of my mates were sharking. any way we unpacked the yak and rods etc and loaded up the left side of the jetty no rods were in the water yet because we were still preparing. the old guy was fishing the right hand side of the jetty for squid on the little reef to the right. by now the time was edging closer to 7 we had a chat for a while why we prepared our SNOOK BAITS with rubberbands etc and balloons.when we were ready my mate hopped in his yak next to the jetty on the left side and i walked onto the beach and loaded his yak with my bait brick etc he paddled out about 150m to the ne side of the jetty and laid my bait out in the water with no oil.when he returned it was his baits turn i asked the old guy politely mate where just taking this bait out as far as that one can u please wind in ur line for a minute, he did know worries we set that bait up.after i arrived back on the jetty from along side the jetty i noticed that the old guys squid line had drifted over my mates shark line. just a simple crossed line which can be resulted in switching rods anyway but now he said to me can u wind that sharkline in its in my way. i said na mate sorry its out there on a brick can i just move the rod out of ur way. well i can say he didn like that he went on to sayin im sik of u shark fisherman tryn to take over MY jetty ive been fishn here for 50 years eff off eff use im sick of all of use coming down her. by all of use i guess he means every sharker that has been down normy. why should i be held responsible for every sharker it was my first time down there?? anyway i went on with my buisness about to cut a ray bait up and he said are u gonna move this rod i said no so he continued to argue by this time hes inbetween mine and my mates rod he said to me i should throw this shit in the water. i turned around he had my custom sabre nd tiagra in his hands i stood up i had the knife in my hand in not 1 way of form did i hold it towards him or threatin him with it i told him he better put it down so he dropped it and lucky i tie my rod nd reel to the jetty or the combo would of hit the floor and probs scratched my reel. he said wat are u goin to do with the knife stab me.. i said no and dropped it and i started to get aggresive with him because of what he just did i yelled at him and said hes lucky he doesnt get thrown in the water and we argued a bit longer. not once did i lay hands on him or he did to me so it was a verbal argument anyway wen my mate came up to the jetty i told him wat happened and we were thinking of leaving but we didnt so the old guy left and then next there was a cop coming down and he charged me with assult which didnt happen there was a verbal argument between 2 people. and the officer said i have to take the old guys word because i know him!!!!!so there is my version of events from that afternoon. as for shark fishing and kids i do yhave respect for children in the water but seriously why would you let your kids swim as far as 100m offshore in the afternoons. i would be concerned to for my childrens safety concerned enough to take them to the swimming centre!!! shark fisherman arnt the blame for sharks being in close. during summer as the water temperature warms up certain species will start to move closer to shore. sharks come in at this time of year as well to drop there pups and to feed on the abundance of bait. anyway the discussions could go on forever i hope most of u can understand my writing haha cheers tp

Of course only YOU can catch a fish With all the healthy and unhealthy discussion, the secrets kept and the ones shared, how has this site affected your fishing???Plenty of talk on here about bait and tackle and techniquePlenty of friendships made and private groups established. I'd love to hear the stories of the boat rides offered, the PMs given or just the general fishing success you can attribute to trolling this site when you'd rather be trolling a lure. For me I'd say that Rickster and Jimbojames fired me up to once again waste some time trying to get a legal mulloway.... And I did and am still addicted 8months on Piratepom reported on some Australian salmon (not sts) out metro and the next week I found em :)HSV884 is someone I got chatting to on the rocks and strike and hook came up in conversation and we've been feeding each other tips ever since. Cheers to those guysAnd just generally it's good to hear reports from the metro areas I fish, because a picture of a 40cm bream revs me up to try harder
