This is completely normal, both Tiagra and Inters ratchet works on a pin moving in and out of holes on a plate mounted to the inside of the spool. You'll find when it's stuck or seized as you described the pin is directly in the hole and when it's easy to pull out it's sitting between 2 and easily moves in and out at speeds. Hope this helps. I've got photos of mates hooked up last season on 50lb 50w and sitting with about 150m of line left. 50w is a perfect reel for big sharks. I just got back from grange hooked into a big smoothie on 50lb on a small overhead had 350m of line on it nearly got spooled on its first run. A good quality 50w not only holds 700+ meters of 50lb also has a good drag system to be able to run big drag pressure for large amount of time and not heat up. Buy what you want it's up to you but if you loose a fish of a life time you'll be the one in tears not me.. Every shark fisher I know runs a 50w or 9/0 from land or larger

emufingers, your lucky i dont wanna be banned of this site cause otherwise id lose my shit at you.you should be worried about some sick freak taking your grandchildren from the beach, not a shark attacking them,as i said so many time our baits are normally over 300m out, we normally dont burley (with fish) if we do its very minnium around sunset.your life guards are the ones that are always rude to use, paddle across our lines when they know that they are there, yet we have never touched or had a go at one of them, which is very tempting to do when my line and trace is worth over 140 bucks.you can think your a big man for this ban shark fishing debate, but i cant afford a boat and people like you are trying to take what i love doing away? just because theres a few harmless bronze whalers swimming around, we should just start going down to the jetty and smashing pills and beers seems like we wouldnt get abused for thatwhata joke all this crap is!

getiing pretty sick and tire of seeing this post go on and on like last months post about the bronzie tht was caught n the debate or 5 plus pages about it being a white.who gives a crap honestly us sharkers are still gonna fish no matter what any one says or rules implied.if we want to use tuna oil we will and we can use as many litres as we wont since we are not breaking the rules.there are no rules that say you can only shark fish during certain times of the day this and that wewill shark fish when ever its convienent for us.i work full time mon to friday and work 8-4if i want to go down after a hard days work and shark fish i will and no 1 will stop me at any times.of corse some people break the rules and with everything a few always break them. but dont judge us like the rest until you no how we are.

You should get 700-800 of 50, really depends on the line diameter, how much you fill it and how tight its wound in.

Can't go past the saltiga surf, excellent reel. I use it down salt creek, fwc, YP beaches. It's caught some big mullies, sharks and rays on it. Casts a mile matched to the ballistic or sensor. It holds around 600 of 50. Best out of the reels you have mentioned
