Howdy 4THALOVE,With the game back up a new model for awarding prizes/keys will be adapted to address your valid concern, any Strike and Hook member/s finding themselves in the top three will be awarded a prize as well as now a random pick throughout the full score range by both Strike&Hook and MFS admin staff (one each) .. this gives a total of 5 prizes up for grabs and even the lowest score holder is now in with a shot, good luck to everyone !Regards ... I picked up the GoPro 3 Black last fortnight for the Freshwater Classic Milang to Goolwa race. Couple of things I have found with the camera I am not happy about and lots that I am.Happy.Picture quality is better than anything you have ever seen. The action shots I took of 30 shots a second mean you can do a great sequence. The WiFi connect App is great, on the iphone you can select all the different settings and record video or shoot pictures. The case is very tough, dont think the attachments are as tough though...Sad.Battery life is dismal, I get around an hour out of the standard battery. From the moment you turn it on the Wifi is chewing the battery so quick its almost disgusting they let it out of the factory like this. I have now bought 2 spare batteries with a charger so I have them ready to go. The Battery BackPack only gives around an extra 30-45mins as well.If filming on 1080 at 46 frames a second I fill a 16gig Micro card on one battery or close to it.The Type of card you want for the best results is a Class 10 with a write speed higher than 45meg a second. I have a 90meg a second card but they cost big $$'sThe footage I got from us sailing down the Narrows at Goolwa was pretty good, unfortunately I ran out of battery when the wind started to come through and we were hitting 25knots on a reach.Looking at getting another one as one is not enough once you start playing with these things and they are mounted in fixed positions..Cheers

A belated Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year to all also.To the topic.Over the last few months I've noticed much talk amongst the Kayak fishos, and some spear fishermen, on the topic of shark shields. There was also a thread mentioning the work of Dr Charles Huveneers with said shark shield. At the RAH Hyperbaric Unit we run a Divers Forum every year where we try and get guest speakers to present topics of interest to the local sport diving community. This year we have been fortunate enough to get Dr Huveneers to agree to present his research work with Shark Shields and Great White Sharks. As this topic may be interesting to the 'Yak fishers and spearos as well as any sport divers on the forum, Bjorn has agreed to let me advertise this presentation on Strike & Hook.Date is 13th February and cost will be $20.00 per ticket, bookings are essential. All details on the attached pdf. This is usually a well attended event, informative and fun. Guided tours of the Hyperbaric unit for those interested are provided after the presentations.Hope to catch up with some of you there.CheersWahoo

"Fishing the Dream" Marathon Florida Keys - in just 10 days, Paul and his son's Nathan ( age 7) and Jared( age 10) catch 42 different species of saltwater fish. They spot a giant green turtle surfacing boat side, iguana's in the coconut trees, Florida stalks fishing dockside and a pod of dolphins whilst shark fishing in the back country. The films shows all the different species in a slide show mixed with film. As they travel from and to each fishing mark they have fun hot-dogging and Paul even takes his scuba gear and dives the Thunderbolt wreck. A fantastic family holiday - one to be cherished forever!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGa8MUosy5g

The other point is tackle shops are struggling and hoping the season can keep them going on after all those years being there. One particular shop down south is on the verge of shutting the doors which is only showing how people are holding back from spending.Car and boat sales are down and fun stuff gets put on hold.Just look at the retail market.Same thing i have noticed on forums..nothing like it was a few years ago.

Hey mate,Great time to choose to go fishing on KI, your have heaps of options at hand. There will be big whiting around at that time in good numbers and you can catch them by Drifting on the broken bottoms with cockles. You will pick up a lot of Flathead doing this as well. There are snapper out deeper but you will need to sound around a lot to try and find them balling up above the bottom. Nannygai are close to the cliff edges anywhere along the north coast. You should be able to see them under your boat and catch them using squid baits. You can catch the odd whiting off of the rocks if you can cast out to the sand. Trevally will also be here. Just a few tips there hope you have some success. Check out this as well: http://www.strikehook.com/forum/22-saltwater-fishing/232298-marron-fishing#232330If you really want to have some fun then book a charter will Gavin solly of kangaroo island fishing adventures. I can Garuntee that you will not come back empty handed and you will have an awesome time. Cheers.
