  1. I really have two favourite forms of fishing, but its probably no surprise that they both involve Snapper!1. Fishing for them from the beach or rocks. I love beach fishing as I got my first beach red last year and was so excited it wasnt funny. the sense of achievement was HUGE.2. Chasing Big Metro Reds on plastics. Biggest is only about 78cm, so improving on this is proving tough, but non metro have landed an 8kilo or so. The metro plastics really is another tough challenge for me as its hard to find big schools and then get your plastics down to them as often the tide is cranking quite hard
  2. Epic session Jimbo. You de man.Wouldnt mind smashing a couple of them myself. Was gold the standout colour in shallow diving?

  4. I have owned some very nice Shimano and very nice Daiwa spin reels in my time.In my opinion the new TD Sol will be on a par with the sustain. But I think the sustain wins that on the looks department but its all personal taste. there wont be much difference in performance between the two but the SOL would be the more durable of the two.But if you step up to the certate, you are in another league again. I have personally witnessed some amazing captures on certates and there performance is faultless and they are possibley the smoothest reel on the market today.I am now a Shimano fan, but if ther

  11. If your burley pot is only a light weight plastic surface burley pot then the 2mm might be okay but if its a metal cage pot then you would be better with 3 or 4mm for sure.ie thicker is better when hauling up a decent weight from 20-30m
  12. I've been giving some thought as to why Gulf St Vincent Snapper catches have been on the improve and why spencer gulf snapper fishing is in decline. Obviously commercial fishing pressure plays a LARGE part but also I think food sources and diet must play some role. Most people tend to think that snapper mainly feed on crustaceans such as crabs and prawns and also scallops and mussels. But although this is true they also feed on live mackerel and Pigmy leatherjackets. Gulf st Vincent is now starting to get large schools of these fish and I believe Snapper are eating more and more of these speci
  13. Its becoming abundtantly clear that PIRSA's mis-management over the last two years has done serious damage to the fishery!I just cant believe they have left it too late, and now all sectors are paying for the commercial sectors crazy greed!
  14. I should add that thats a prime example of a SPENCER GULF SNAPPER in your avatar Grego.REMEMBER that fish well. They should have just used your pic or this one...lol
  15. Hey Knackers, I find the tides on Willyweather to be fairly accurate when fishing out from Osullies. Most of the time its spot on.
  16. We have had a few KGW caught and released by SART Club members but due to the extremely low numbers of KGW tagged, we are yet to see a re-capture and are not sure if we will ever see one. There has also been quite a few tagged by ANSA members here in the state but most never get re-captured and it appears that there is an extremely low re-capture rate. It is unknown as to the reason of this.I guess one possibility is that by placing a tag in them, they then may be a more noticeable prey item for predators, but I dont think this would be the main reason for them not getting re-captured. I think
  17. Yes doesnt look like Pagras Auratus to me. Looks more like a Small or large mouth nannagai caught up in QLD?
  18. For my mind the heavier rated 78 Hirimassa is the pick of them for popper work here in SA on big Kings but would also be better for GT popping as well if you ever went up to QLD.The 78 is rated 60lb whilst the 77 is only rated at 50lb which in my mind 50lb is just a tad too light and the slightly heavier 60lb is far more ideal
  19. im happy to buy your $25 voucher for $10 bux that will help you buy your combo elsewhere..lol
  20. Our SA size limits are in place to ensure that various species reach a certain size and have had sufficient time to spawn before they are legally allowed to be taken. But in saying that I do agree that we should have in place a maximum size. Especially for species such as Flathead and Snapper. Our current snapper minimum size limit of 38cm allows them to breed, in my opinion, once they reach 90cm they should have to be returnedBut as you would be aware, there are other methods that can be employed by PIRSA to better manage a species such as Snapper and commercial Catch quotas in my opinion are b
  21. Havent used it, but judging by the lure weight specs and PE rating Id say it would be an insane Popper rod for Pt Augusta Kings. Casting stick baits and Yo Zuri Sashimi's etc.
