AquaticResearch1 got a reaction from Underpants in Small Daiwa spin reels Vs Shimano?
Thing is lofty, I could show you a picture of a massive x fish on a certain reel, yet still Not rate it as highly as another reel I've used purely based on user friendliness and a certain level of luck being needed to land a decent fish.

I've just had a quick scroll through my phone gallery, was going to upload photos but it is a bit much work... any way.

    BG
    8kg snapper + others
    75cm snook
    25lb murray cod + others
Surf salmon to 45 cm and trolled fish to 8lb
    Big Callop

    Aird
Mulloway to 80 something cm + many many more
    Big redfin plus many more
    Big carp
    52cm Waitpinga salmon
    Rainbow trout
    KG whiting to 50ish cm
    Many cast salmon to 52cm
    Bream to 42cm

    Seido
    Big carp galore
Heaps of school Mulloway to 70cm
    Redfin big and small
    Big 3lb plus rainbow trout
    Kg whiting and pan snapper

    Symetre
Lots of yellowfin whiting including 40 + cm fish
    Big carp to 3ft long
    Rainbow trout to 6lb
    Redfin
    Bream to 35cm

Now all those reels have caught good fish, but I would recommend the symetre ahead of the Aird and seido purely as it is just as  capable and has been a finer reel to use, and hence has been used in more finesse applications. The BG by contrast is a beast of a reel in its' build, but that's why I tend to use it on bigger targets even if it isn't that much larger than the others. It just isn't as good to use and I don't need that full aluminum construction etc etc on fish that I Chase on flick sticks; just as I don't think underpants will by his description.

Bloody long type up but I hope I got the message across.

They are awesome reels micky, a mate has one and I can't fault it. Very good choice.

For a given size, the lt series from daiwa is a bit smaller than the equivalent sizing in an 'equivalent' reel. That is to say, a 3000 daiwa lt may be the same size as a 2500 normal daiwa reel, or something to that effect.

Still don't look half bad, Doobie. Don't mind a bit of "fish jerky" myself when things are in a touch too long

I've done away with the wet brine myself and just sprinkle with salt and sugar before smoking now, saves a lot of time and I don't notice the difference tbh.

Seaweed worms belong to the phylum Annelida subclass oligocheata. I suspect the term "garden worm" is used to denote the subclass oligocheata and differentiate them from the polychaete subgroup (tube worms, beach worms, blood worms etc).

"Aquatic oligochaetes are closely related, and quite similar, to earthworms. There are over 3100 species of terrestrial, marine and freshwater oligochaetes worldwide. Ten families of freshwater oligochaetes occur in Australia, represented by over 90 species. In South Australia, there are at least 35 known species."

I get the same with the whiting.

I just use the spatula and push them down now when I first drop them in. Works ok. Need to stagger the times you out your fillets in the pan a but more doing this though.

    Hi all
If you are one of the lucky ones to be holidaying on Yorkes at the moment or are one of the even luckier ones who permanently live on Yorkes, come and say hello to me and my wife at the Kadina Markets on January 19th.
I will have most of my range of sinkers available and will also be taking pre-orders. I will also be doing a special price on the sinkers for the market as well
This is a new experience for me and if this is successful, we may be doing a few more markets on yorkes as well. Just hope that the weather plays ball, as I may be taking the fishing roads, for a sneaky fish on the way home

Great creek fish, that's something you'd normally pulled out of a dam or the northern rivers.

8 fish is a bloody good session when it includes that one.

Caught a good one on Kingston Jetty on my way through, casting soft plastics. No idea if it was a fluke or you could do that along many of the calmer beaches in the area, though.

AquaticResearch1 got a reaction from Squid Inc. in Full media release: Safeguarding our future snapper stocks
Something needed to be done, and unfortunately the lag in the internal processes made it take this long.
Opening up the previously restricted zones is weak imo. Let's take it bloody seriously and let the stocks recover instead of doing some musical chairs swaps of spots.

If anyone followed the management of the prawn industry, where the fishery was closed entirely for a period before resuming, the stocks bounced back well But still got hit hard by the reopening.

Snapper will take longer, and without further amendment we'll end up in the same place we are now once both sides of the fishery (pro and rec) begin to rape it to the point that got us here in the first place.

I highly doubt we reach the virgin biomass % targets with these measures tbh.

Would rather them bite the bullet and restrict both pro and rec fishing to bare minimum and get them back on track. It is a major ecologically important species, not just a commodity.

Yes i normally have the same sort of luck and spook the fish but the water was little dirty and some good flow and managed to get behind him and present a decent cast.
Thats just a simple wooly bugger ive tied with some blue flash.
Probly the hottest session ive had in this location actually. And i only did half my normal run as some rain come through.  Defently a bonus at this time of year with some water height. Come summer time and im on my hands and knees trying to get in range of the fish.

Decided to dust off the sage x this morning (no dust on it),  and wet some flies, as the wheathers not appropriate for the boat.
Probly 12 or so fish landed, alot of smaller fish that where all fun. All in great condition with fat bellys. And this 38cm horse, spotted from a high bank. Nothing better when it all goes too plan.

I rarely use hard bodied lures these days but I used to use them flat out for bream - towards the end of that era I was beginning to become dissatisfied with Owner st36ers - and that was on 6 to 8lb leaders. Too many bent and snapped trebs for my liking. I had a suspicion that quality control had dropped or the last few packs I'd bought were from a dud batch.

Then I got a batch of lures that had BKK trebs on them and I remember being very impressed with those. But this was a long time ago and I didnt test them with scales like I would these days.

I've got a mate who is still an avid HB user and he doesnt buy owners any more - he's completely switched all his trebs to BKK. If you give them a crack, just make sure you dont accidentally buy the fine wire version, They're similar to the ultra light owner st-11 ul

How much hurt are you putting on these fish because St 36ers are most peoples goto,if you need more perhaps singles are your solution.

It shouldn't affect it tooo much. Id just buy 1 pack and give it a try if it doesn't work out you've only outlaid 10 buxs and can use them for other lures.

I cant claim the idea as my own - after seeing Undy's I got thinking and it festered until I did something about it.
Seems to handle the chop well, as in doesnt tip or anything. But trying to rest on it / use it as a work station during chop is challenging. Essentially your standing still and your height wont change, but the tub rises and falls with the chop.
RE: the guld worm, I had the same idea but thought to use a cranka crab instead. Still on my list of things to do but im sure it has merit.
