  1. Just thought i'd put a thread up of some of the other lures i have painted up at the moment. Originally my main goal was to mainly paint the topwater Lures for YFW and sell them just as an hobby sort of thing. However after watching countless hours of Youtube and reading forums I now know there is alot more i can paint/create and not to pump them out quantity wise. Instead getting creative and painting for Quality and doing it more for myself.

Unfortunately I have painted up most of the blanks I originally had. I have a few hundred dollars worth of blanks, films, stencils and bits and pieces i have purchased being held as  the coronavirus hit most of the areas I purchase my gear from. So am waiting for freight companies to resume there services so i can start painting up new lures..

My main blanks I am planning to paint will be for the upcoming season. So will mainly be Trout, Redfin and Salmon lures. I have a range of Stickbaits, and metals for the Salmon. The Trout and Redfin will be a range of minnows perfect for both dams/lakes and creeks and streams.   I will keep you all up to date with the processes and what I create.  In the mean time here are a couple I have painted over the last month or so ....

  2. Best thing I ever did was change my line over to Floating Mono-filament line.... Being a floating line it presents the lure excellently, helps track the lure and makes it easier to use.

The line I use is Sunline fine float PE #0.6. It's not cheap but In my opinion well worth it. As for connection I either use a decoy lure snap on 00 size or tie directly to the lure.

Lately i have been using the lure clip purely for the fact I have been trying out my custom lures so it's easier to chop and change......

On a side note I got a few Lure i can sell to you at a good Strike Hook Price ;)

With the Sugar Pens on some sites now getting up to $33 and demand is there for that brand as being a successful lure, but the copies are on there way.I was shown 4 copies (pictures) last week and gee they are very close to the originals. He said he would send me a few to look at,thinking if people can buy them cheaper then they will sell quickly, who ever gets them out there first will be making some money from it.

It's the main reason why i went searching for these blanks to paint..

Paying 20 bucks plus for an top water lure for whiting is ridiculous.

If i can provide a cheaper option that still catches fish im happy to continue painting them and sell a few here or there...

Looking very impressive. Cant wait till you start offering to pimp other style hb's 😉. It would be nice to have someone local who does this. Regards HBt.

Cheers mate.... Got a few different things on order to try at the moment....

most will be around smaller Species such as bream, reddies trout etc but have a few other avenues i want to target. I Want to concentrate on current species people target at the moment...

I also have some 22g Sinking Stickbaits on the way for the Tuna ;)

The biggest issue i will run into and will be trial and error is the swimming of the lures.... Might have to try a few different ones to get them perfect for what i want.

  5. Hey all as the title states I am looking for a handful of people that Regularly chase YFW on Top water lures....

I have sourced and custom painted a few and would like a couple people to test them out. As well as getting opinions and  feedback on them....

    If interested let me know.

Conditions of getting your hands on one are:

You must actually chase Yellowfin Whiting on Lures

You must be able to give me feedback on them and pictures of the lure catching fish....

Im not going to release anymore information as of yet until I get some feedback and see what hardcore Lure Fishos think as if they seem like an popular item i will be putting these up for sale.

If interested hit me up.... I will leave this here until next Wednesday and will select 5 people from who ever has applied. As i have limited quantities at the moment...

I used to fish everyday after work and throw hard body lures for bream on shallow rock banks. At the time I was using ecogear sx40's and if you lost 3 of those in a session - it would start to add up - and if you were doing it five days a week and twice on the weekend - it really added up.

So it was losing ecogears that made me search out cheaper alternatives.

When strikepro came out with an almost identical copy for half the price - I switched to those and didnt noticed a drop in catch rates. Thats started my search for even cheaper lures.

By the end of my serious "breaming on lures" I was using HB lures that cost 1/10th of the ecogears and still catching fish.

Sure some needed to be tuned out of the box and some needed treble upgrades - but in the lightweight catergory - you can spend much less and still catch fish.

These days my softplastics cost 5c each instead of $2 - My blades cost $2 instead of $20 - and my jigheads are between 10c and 50c.

The down side to the cheapest tackle can usually be over come with a hook sharpening file or some tuning with the pliers. I understand alot of people dont have time for that - but you can work miracles pretty quick on a lure that may not last the first cast let alone multiple sessions

we've all been there.... I lost hundreds of dollars in single sessions to fish busting me on reef or structure. I remember fishing lower Yorkes flats one day and catching and releasing fish all day... Snook, Trevally, Flatties, Salmon full mix basket. Ended up losing $260 in lures in one session and that $260 were lures discounted when i was working in the tackle shop. So i'd hate to think how much I actually lost retail value wise.... Most of the Lures would of been around the $15-$25 mark.

Hence why I am looking for cheaper alternatives that i can get that are cheap enough but will do the job there suppose to and swim straight. If that means fine tuning and replacing terminal tackle or sharperning hooks then so be it .....
