Hi Marten,
I have two set ups for these fish, for casting plastics/jigs I have a 7 foot 8-12kg rod with a Penn Slammer (560 I think) and for trolling I have a 6 foot Triton Beastmaster 8-12kg rod and a TLD 20. On a kayak I think a 8-12kg rod is heaps, I'm not sure I'd even be likely to put that much pressure on a fish.
The guys at Sportfishing Scene will be able to help you out, they are a great bunch of guys with heaps of knowledge to share. I buy all my gear there.

Got a bit of a surprise this morning while crawling through some bush to reach the river.. As I came out of the bush at the rivers edge (still on hands & knees)I came across a Tiger Snake sunning it's self. 
I think it got the biggest shock as it darted straight into the river and headed for the opposite river bank. Halfway across it turned around and headed back to where I was now standing in shallow water.
I just stood still and watched it swim past me before it was back in shallow water next the river bank. I reckon the reason it turned around was because the water temperature was so low it new it was in trouble.
Once at the river bank it just laid in the shallows with it's head out of the water while I took a couple of photos before I moved off and started fishing..
Then some three hours later when I was back at the car I came across a threesome in the grass....

The Easter day trip out with my mate and his Mrs wasn't as successful as I'd dreamed the night before but was a great day to get out on the water.
A quick and easy launch and retrieval at O'Sullies straight to my mates spot X. I swear there aren't any fish there, not sure why he swears by it, perhaps I'm a jinx on the trips we go on.
We caught a few tommies, squid and leatheries for quite a few hours of fishing. Our baits were being destroyed by pickers, I'm guessing the leatheries, there was one pygmy leather jacket that my mate pulled up and the sounder showed heaps of small fish.
Cruising around were some gar but only one hit the deck and was thrown back as it was undersized.
Next time I may be able to convince my mate to try a new spot 

@southie THE BANGA Yeah I'm working all weekend, by all accounts there was a steady stream of vehicles headed our way Thursday night. saw heaps in the shop today but figure we will see more tomorrow. there are still a lot of people who can't get their head around that we are open Good Friday.
Hopefully you'll get out for a fish after the weekend, I know I'm hoping to

im taking it easy over the break might go flick a few soft plastics. But come ANZAC DAY im having 5 days off down at point turton...can not wait!

Heading to the shack on yorkes for me too... hopefully theres a few fish about, the old boy got a bag of squid and crabs yesterday

If everyone else is headed north, I'm going south.
Haven't been out for awhile, but hitting up Goolwa Beach for an overnight. Hopefully the mullys, gummies and salmon come out to play!

Got a leave pass for a full day on the water over the long weekend, so im going to meet up with a mate over on Yorkes and wade some flats!
Flatties and YFW are on the agenda.

I am a supporter of the idea but I just feel that atm everyone is getting ahead of themselves. the details are vague and no time frame has been put in place. I just feel as though all of this carry on is getting peoples hopes up. we need to take a step back and wait for something to happen before jumping the gun. 
We need to understand that this is a new gov and they have almost no experience in governing. Things will more than likely take longer than anticipated to happen because of this. I also feel that there are more urgent matters for this gov to deal with than this issue.

That's more or less them. The ones I use are on the left, but even then there are only really the 4 that I have any confidence in. 
 
Red head Yozuri white I use off boats
Firetiger Daiwa I use land based Yorke's
Little brown Yamashita I use landbased metro and when squid are finicky as
Big 4.0 Salmon coloured Daiwa when the water is deep or there are a heap of bigger baitfish around. 
 
I don't really squid for the sake of squidding; only for bait or if they are around while I'm fishing. So a lot of my jigs are cheapies of years gone by, and I'll lend them to anyone who wants to just catch squid while I fish. 

Sorry boys. Had my Semi final for Basketball tonight and we lost by 1pt im still filthy but as promised here is my collection. 
I probably sold 50 or more a little while ago simply because i wasn't using them.

I probably had easily 80 jags at one stage and all Decent quality to. But there was way to much $$$ Tied up that I wasn't using so they had to go to fund other fishing related items...

Gave a lot of jigs away to family and friends so my collection sits at about 110 jigs now.
I usually buy up big when there is a sale on. Plenty of duplicated jigs here

The clear Savage jig i use with great affect.
Some squid do get a little spooked by the legs and will go and touch it and freak out, but others engulf it.
