Fishing 👍👍, the outcome of the game will be publicised, watching it won't change the outcome.
Fishing is like sex, every time you miss out on it  you never catch it up 😂😂

I appreciate the evidence, but lived experience alone could have told this story. I think we are all to blame to some extent. You only need to see how much rubbish I pick up from the beach at the shack on a regular basis to know this.
Drastic reform to our approach gets my support.

Well they can't put the blame onto the recreational fisher with the restrictions already placed on them,, perhaps it's time to have a hard look into the professional side of fishing a little more..
    cheers

I tend to buy mid priced reels you can get some quality gear for $100-$150
Then I service myself bail rollers seem to be  most of my problems
Might get another fin nor lethal 100 for spares & extra spool😉
    Awesome heavy duty reel $128
The free Rapala reel with 30lb braid from fish mag has exceeded my expectations
Very smooth drag great feel & has accounted for lots of big fish 7ft bronzy, big gummies snaps etc

SportFishingScene is where I get my servicing done, usually after them getting drowned in a sand monster.

This what I do for my basic reels, I buy Sienna's for around $40 and servicing is usually about $30 so I just run them into the ground and replace every year or so.
On a kayak where it's always getting exposed to salt and sand so it's not worth using good expensive gear.

Going by those prices I'm thinking its more economical to buy mid priced quality reels, work them hard, but with care. Obviously avoid water and sand intrusion. Wash them down etc. after use and replace them with new ones when they no longer perform to acceptable levels.
Seems wasteful though....such a throw away society we live in now days.
I guess the cost is wrapped in the service person's pay. The value of those reels listed above would however justify their servicing costs.

I am Sorry a lot  will not agree , but I have tried the lure thing , and soft plastics , maybe I have no patience , so I stick with bait , live bait or fresh cockles ,worms ,clickers what ever , maybe I am no good at lure fishing , but I cant stand fishing for 3hrs casting lures , and then try again for 6 hours for maybe one fish ,  F@#k that , bait for me . IMHO

Interesting question....,why dont I catch fish?
I am partly blaming the internet for this dilemma, nowadays  info is hand fed.Back in the day it was fishing reports in the paper, after that it was up to the individual to actually go out ,see what other experienced anglers were doing right, taking in the info, spending time on the water, working out tides, feeding habits, gathering or buying fresh bait, experementing with different rigs...basically doing the hard yards.
You can only be hand fed so much, time on the water= experience ,actually  working things out yourself plus seeing from others  is the key.Plus one thing my Dad always taught me is fish for what is there. No point fishing for salmon trout when everyone around you is catching  say yellowin whiting for example.
    Cheers and all the best.😎

The Nautic Star looks a beast for the price but would be a one town boat.
I have always liked the Kevlacat 2400 twin 140 Suzuki's for a towable offshore large boat 😉

Oh well, onward and upward 🙂
I like to keep an eye out on whats for sale, just an interest no plans to change myself.  Yeah 3.8 tonne is pushing it with a regular 4wd, the big landcruisers would be ok if you have one, they can be upgrade around 4 and with a tare weight around 2.7t would be good.   A 4wd truck I've heard is another option.  2000 hours I don't think is much for a diesel, but may trigger some major service I guess.   Pretty easy to clock up the hours when you have a truly offshore capable boat.   Marco builds a very good boat I believe (and found out where their limit is 🤔)
Guessing but I reckon that boat would have been pushing $250K new.  Limited market in that size, but as you say though, great for the cape.
The hunt continues, good luck 🙂
    Cheers

Yeti gear is expensive but well designed & built
I took 3 months to get a 4L drink bottle wasn't paying retail...
SSSOOOO happy I eventually got it. 4l thermos on a 40deg day working in the sun best drink bottle I've seen
For fishing I use a salt saline solution in 6 X 1.25L bottles & few bags ice to make a super cold ice slurry for fish
Usually I get frostbite while filleting lol

Not used them, but they look a little rich to buy.
I just use a few 1.25lt soft drink bottles or plastic milk containers - does the job well enough for me.

All good, but get someone else to do the cleaning....problem solvered. 😂.
No need to scale fish over 3kg. Just skin or cook with scales on as they come off simple as with the skin & keep the moisture in.
