Looking good Crusher, nice colour and am gathering that is sawdust around them.

I've been colouring my own gents for some months now and find the process quite easy.

The strike rate does seem to be better, mainly on the red ones, but have found fluoro not too bad either.

Also, have experimented with flavoring them - not sure there is any difference for the fish - but doesn't seem to make much difference - and I ain't testing the flavor myself to check

The next experiment is going to be using dead gents - ones that are killed without losing any colour or toughness to their skin.

Ohhh mother nature you are a kidder sometimes , just when i was thinking i would have to concrete the gazebo down for registrations you turn it on and produce an unimaginable night with perfect conditions . I haven't seen such a still night in a long time .
With the storm warning and rain the day before i was wondering if anyone was going to turn up but those that did had an absolute cracker of a night , catching plenty of Mulloway between all those that entered . From the non photo worthy catches up to the winning catch there was plenty of action for the anglers . With the turn out and interest we will definitely be doing another round in the future and will likely be in the beginning of Dec at the end of the year so keep your eyes peeled for details .
    Congratulations too...
Raffle winner = winning the Fleurieu Fishing Club , Shimano rod and reel combo went to Jason Bentley who was one of just a couple who only caught a donut .
Mystery Length winner = 24cm Mullet picking up a Fishing Wholesalers , landing net tackle box and some goodies went to Brad Monssen with his Mullet caught for bait .
3rd Place = 65.5cm Mulloway was Jamie Heitman who took home the Fishing Guru , filleting knife and glove .
2nd Place = 69cm Mulloway was Joshua Davey who got the Fishing SA Magazine years subscription .
And 1st Place = 85cm Mulloway was Mick Windibank who won the major prize a Reel Scream Fishing , Penn rod , reel , hat and stubbie holder , and what an awesome catch fella , a massive well done .
Thankyou to Strike&Hook.com and Fishing Wholesalers and Anthony Shultz for all the goodies that went into the raffle prize packs , and i think every second person walked away with a prize .

It was put on by Mulloway Taggers SA, unfortunately I couldn't make it down there. Plenty of decent mullys were caught, the winning fish was in the 80's. There are photos on FB, look up Mully Mayhem Fishing Series. There's another round coming up in West Lakes sometime in March I think.

I have had people using them over the past few weeks and they have had some good results. Aaron is supplying me with some fresh gent to do a bulk load. They get here tomorrow so they won't be available till around Thursday as it is a long process to get the colour right. This we I have been doing gent that have a shine to them and have come up OK. They are red/purple with a shine. Will have those available this week also.
The last lot of batches I have done in the last couple of weeks have sold out so time to do a big batch. A friend of mine has been trying them and over the past 3 weeks have found a 48% better catch rate. Ned more input by others to see if this is making a difference.

Here's a recipe for pickled squid that i use for pickling all the left over bits such as the flaps and tentacles. Its easy as but the squid takes a little bit of preparation before you start.First up i like to freeze the squid so you can pickle it when you want and also it breaks up the structure of the squid to make it more tender. Then i like to peel the skin off the flaps and chop up the tentacles(even the bit behind the head is tasty). Now to make up the brew here's what you need
    white vinegar 1 litre
    lemon juice a decent splash
    crushed garlic 1 teaspoon
    chilli 1 teaspoon
1 bottle of praise italian dressing
    black pepper
    mixed italian herbs 1 teaspoon

now put all of it in a saucepan and bring to the boil and chuck in your first batch of squid bits and bring back to the boil for 1 minute and then remove the squid,if you have anymore chuck that in and do the same etc etc this adds flavour to the brew as well as blanching the squid.

now chop up the squid into bits

This is "important" you must let the pickling mixture cool right down or it will overcook your squid
when cool chuck the squid in jars and pour the mixture over the top put in the fridge and resist the temptation to sample your squid for 4 days then get stuck in,you can add more chilli or pepper etc but don't use salt or it will toughen your squid.......Enjoy

Makes total sense. In terms of SAFFA I know they stock the Broughton for example and promote it as a tourist/fishing location for all people to enjoy. It's no secret that a local guy up there allows people access to the river. Just figured it would be the same in all naturally occurring river/streams that are stocked. I'm pretty sure after they stock a naturally occurring river/stream they don't technically own those fish regardless of membership or anything else.  Short of tagging or genetic testing you just can't prove that fish is stocked or naturally spawned in any event. And if that fish goes upstream or downstream to another property who owns it then?  Although I can see arguments both ways.
In short though completely up to the property owner to deny anyone access across his land to the water. I was just put off by the way he was talking about it. Sounded to me like he thought he owned the actual water and fish etc. I've heard talk of certain land titles being that restrictive etc. so who knows. But I'm not about to march down to the land titles office and figure it out haha.

Completely agree with you on the point of the few spoiling it for the many. Happens to often. May have previously happened hence the attitude.

By the sounds of it though..if you can't beat them..join them. Might be an option to consider now.

Is the spot a dam or creek?
    Do you mean safwaa?
It is a dam and you actually mean safwaa then you are mistaken about it being stocked for all.
Safwaa has dams all over the state that they look after and stock with agreements with the owners and yes they are for club members only and the member that told you how to get there has broken the rules of being a member (I think, I'm not a member)
