my lost fish happened late last year, i had been fishing this spot in the port for over 20 trips by this time for nothing more than one hit. when my float dissapeared and line screemed off the reel. my mate Rob jumped up started the boat and untied us to give chase. we chassed for thirty or so meters and then the thing decided ti run back towards the structure we were on. i locked up and also used the boat to stop him when he slowly started to rise up and stop. i had him on the surface about to wind in a few thrashes on the surface and snap. he bit through. f*#k i yelled i worked so hard for that fish and in 5 mins i had lost my prize. ps using 60lbs jinkai. the most devostating was this one though. i had been hounding my mates to join me on another mulloway trip to the same spot earlier in the week but they all objected addict included.. so i set out alone. i caught 7 livies which two i decided to let go as you rarly use more than one. got to the spot bang one down no hookup. bang again no hookup again. then nothing i fell asleep. 2.30am i woke to a screeming 975 ratchet. i jumped up and struck up solid. it was big and headshaking violently. i untied started the engine and gave chase, in doing so i crashed the boat into the structure and got stuck. i freed myself and went back to the beast. i followed it for atleast 50 meters until i got ontop of it. i almost had him out of danger. i pumped and punped for no line gained. then another problem arose, he swam around my other line which i forgot about. i stayed calm and passed the rod under the other and came up hard again. then i didnt realise why but i must of scared him this time and in a split second he excellerated 20 meters to the last bit of structure and he was gone. devo i drove back to the spot. then i realised i had no more live bait. i was so mad at myself for releasing thoes others and just went home. i had no sleep that night and still think about the one that got away....

nah i havnt been fishing in ages, Jack. just had a little boy. AND BRAD FOR SUM REASON SHANE DECIDED TO POST HEAPS OF WOGGY IN THERE. lol. And none of my latest kingies and snappys. Maybs saving them for the next 1. Did you remember that pic of the boat? brad s took it of that 17 kilo one. Brad your the guy im talking about that goes hard from the start, just u dont use 15, lol.

no offence intended but you would be waisting your time and cash at myponga, thats if your talking big fish. they need currents steep drop offs and rocky terrain to hunt. ib be trying rapid head where i know a few have been caught before and my step dad sees them there often when diving. you get big ones there. and if you dont wanna try there pt. giles half way along is an awsm kingie jetty. good luck landing one there, but.My best tip for land based kingies is to take along a bucket of sand or gravel. throw it side armed into the water every few mins as they will come to your area if they hear this. like a scared bait school sound. they are so inquisitive and love comotion. it works.... id only use live squid for them as bait but some people use big gar or live trouties, goodluck mate.

is there anyone on here thats involved in organising anythin to do with the show. waist of your time and ours. thanks for nothin. lol. id rather pay bruce 15 bucks at ray and annes to go to his shop than go to the show next year. even the winches were near on full price, i rekn they only took off the entry fee hahaha.

funny you should be asking this question, i have an artical that goes in depth of how i bait my squid gar and live trouties for big fish in the next wild coast mag. it should be a good read for ya and i hope it helps many others too. In the artical i dont profess its right in anyway but these are tips and tecniques that work for me..... but anyway i place one hook in the tail 1cm in also like w.brad but my second hook is placed in the squirter under the squids head. it leavs so much hook piont out and never fouls up. works for me on fish uop to 27kilo,.

hey tako the subscribers get it like a week in. i think ill have to address this when i see him next, cos its annoying as seeing it on the shelf and waiting. lol.

s.t.b is spot on it mate. a 7 foot spin rod in the 6-10 kilo weight range, and match with a 4000 sized daiwa spin reel. pick up a great combe for that price down ray and annes. awsm for mullies and also same goes for reds etc.

the port mullie for sure. tagged and released felt good aswell. but in saying that, at the time the king felt so good. i was over the moon and i had 6 mates away with me to share it with.if this post runs for a while ill post my three biggest mullie,king and red also...

Why is that cause 20kg's of drag & carbontex washers not up to the task or that you have read somewhere on the net of people having problems with them? At the end of the day chances of hooking multiple Kings over 4 or 5 days at PA is highly unlikely anyway. Some well known charters over WA carry outfits that comprise of 18000F Saragosa's, that are used to catch multiple big Sambos on a regular basis. By the way not having a go at you Shark_Fisho just trying to help cooki with some suggestions that fall within his budget & get the job done.

kat you have the best land based snapper spots in australia just down the road at whyalla. just need to ask right people to show you the way thats all. pop in to see wes or dave at the local sportsfishing scene there and they will point you into the right direction, if they give you nothing ill give you one.

all the salmon beaches hold mullies . just people dont talk bout them much. try a few times you will get one sooner or later.
