Kuerschie got a reaction from Meppstas in 2018 Fishing goals
With this year nearly halfway through, I thought it be time to revisit some fishing goals I had set for this year. I was wondering if any other S&H members had any fishing goals for this year they’ve ticked off or aim to in the next 6-7 months?
Personally I’ve had a good year so far with a lot of new PBs and new species ticked off including first SBTs and samsonfish, PB snapper, kingfish, flathead, callop and cod etc.

For the rest of the year I have a couple more goals to tick off. Mainly a salmon over 4kg, new PB kingfish (>5kg), new PB bream (>42.5cm) and hopefully come summertime I can get into some yellowfin whiting on poppers.
Anyone else have a couple of fish to tick off this year?

Burners was peaceful until I nearly blew us up with that dodgy butane cooker ahaha.
Yorkes is an awesome place to camp and fish like the others have mentioned. It’s probably myself and Southie’s most common overnighter trips. So many options available.

Another vote for Yorkes..... In all honesty i dont waste my time fishing metro much anymore. I'd rather save the cash and head to Yorkes. Alot more options and if weather turns your only 20-30mins away from the other side....
Plenty of little bays/areas you can get away from everyone and camp for a couple nights....
Myself and Kuerschie camped at Burners Beach peaceful and water right out the front....

Just a heads up guys. Came across an instagram account tonight masqurading as a young lady who fishes adelaide hills creeks and streams for trout.
None of her photos are Legit, and a reverse image search revealed at least one of the photos she is claiming as her own is actually one of Meppsta's (I presume)

The account is https://www.instagram.com/ruzzomelissa/ if anyone wants to check it out for any of there own pictures.

Firstly, MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of our fellow Hookers 😉
Thought I would share my attempt at a festive themed video lol.
Here we try something a little different. Obviously we love our fishing/camping/4WD but in this video I try and get my craft on with our other passion . . . Beer
The idea for these baubles came from a random ebay purchase whilst under the influence of said passion lol.
Feel free to hit the "Subscribe" button to catch our videos as they are uploaded
    Enjoy.

I’ve never found them to descriminate, yesty they ate 3 different divers n the biggest went the skirt in the motor wash .
Hardest part of tuna fishing is finding them, the rest is easy.

OnkaStompa 2017 was off to an early start yesterday as it always is. A total of around 238 entrants and approximately 298 in attendance. It was a hot day but people still came out and enjoyed a family day of fishing and fun.
The total raised throughout the year and announced on the day was $24,760 with that number to be topped up a little when every last cent was counted. Well the grand total ended up being an astounding $25,181.60.
    The official results...
Champion - Brett Haslett Bream 44.5cm and Mens Title
Women - Lisa Solly Bream 28cm
    Junior - Christina Fontanot 39.5cm
    Mulloway - Caleb Maunder 61.5cm
Other Fish Senior - Peter Hayesman Mullet 35cm
Other Fish Junior - Beatrice Nash Mullet 24.5cm
The BBQ although a bit quiet compared to other years went well with the Strike Hook crew at the helm. Just look at this bunch of legends!
We have Kidney Slapper, Myself, Southie the Banger, Doobie and The Fishing Guru who was an official on the day. A huge thank you to the guys for helping out with the BBQ and continuing the Strike Hook BBQ tradition.

Nigel another legend who has helped at the Bunnings BBQs couldn't make it but still managed to drop in and drop off a very well received frozen drink for us.

While in the BBQ area most of the time, I tried to get out and take a few pics of what else was going on during the day. A few of natures freakiest creatures made an appearance and one of the locals decided it was too boring and just slept all day.

It was great to be part of and so good to put the feet up afterwards.

Check out the Savage Gear Roadrunner 6-10kg. 4 piece, 7 foot flat, full graphite, etc. I've got one that's my heavy travel rod aimed at barra and cod etc. $139 isnt too expensive for a reasonable travel rod either.

Berkley ones are good as most of the time your hooks don't get too caught up in them as there's no mesh. I use the smaller yak one for all my light tackle fishing and it works a treat. A few of my mates have the largest Berkley net that they use for cod up the murray and it's a good net. Environets are good nets also but if you pick either of them I don't think you'll have too many issues.
