random question???? HELL NO!This winter had me beaten down and falling asleep in my boat (I use the term boat very loosely):PThe wicked, wicked SATAN sent season of misery is closely making way for the glory months!!! Woooooohoooooo! :woohoo: get pumped people... The ladies are shedding their layers :silly: the.footy finals are getting serious, the BREAM are stirring, the YFW are rising, the shitties are receiving orders ready for.their annual D DAY invasion of the estuaries, the snook are sharpening their fangs, the sharks are circling, the blooooody Mulloway are a schooooooooling and of course the Snapper are head butting the shit outta stuff ready to root and mung out on blue crab.Make no mistake ladies and gents, IT WILL SOON BE ON LIKE DONKEY KONG and I :c can't :c wait!!!!(okay, to answer your question, I too will be treking the shallows armed with surface lures targeting YELLOW FIN WHITING.... Im off to a sea run hotspot to finally go back over 40cm on a Bream... Oh yes, I will break 42cm this summer, oh yes. But most of all I will be smashing the Mulloway hard... Hard like..er well, ... I can't think of an appropriate metaphor, .. But hittin them buggers hard and with lighter gear than last season...... AND some big hard nutter SNAPPER while I rest)Summer boo yeah! Look out now, time to break out the fishin boardies for 5am spring tide dawns :woohoo: )

was fishing on the port lincoln town jetty for some YFW yesterday afternoon when i bloke brought to my attention that the ruddy great ship that was tied up to the wharf was the super trawler here in town to fill up on fuel before heading down towards tassie to rape our oceans its huge and i still cant beleive its in our waters someone should have fueled it up with contaminated fuel or something anything to stop it

If you must use a lifesaver, could just suspend it in a glass of seawater and time how long it takes to disolve, then just assume less time due to the movement of the sea water.Id use the methed described by Damien, works well

Damien Dray reacted to Jack. in HOWS THE LAST TWELVE MONTHS BEEN ??? 30JUNE11- 1JULY12
Love to see bulk photos to pump us up for the next 12 months! What's been your story, yer fishing journey and triumphs??It been a brutal winter here in Adelaide but I've loved the tales of success and determination from some on this forum, well done lads :clap:But maybe for the not so lucky (me ) maybe it's a good time to reflect on 12 months gone as we ramp up for a good spring to part the clouds and warm up the fishing action!!!! For me, last July saw us land some ripper salmon trout 35-40cm fish with regularity and just when it couldn't get any better, we discovered a nice little patch of Bream.. :woohoo: had some sessions right through the cold August when we were onto loads of legal fish 29-35cm. I went fishin with my boy and caught a 38cm ripper.... He put his finger over the lenses taking 3 photos and I copped heaps in the report on here for the excuse  Wasn't able to repeat the effort, but after a bucket or two of YFW in Sept 2011, it was time to tangle with the start of the school mulloway run  me, dad and Stuart were blessed with multiple captures every Saturday until mid February when things slowed a bit.... Around the February 2012, I had a hot line on the port river Snapper.... My mate would txt or call that they were on and I would open up the tinny and fly back around pelican point... But every time I missed out..SPEW! sick of the reports of snapper on strike and hook, I went on an solo adventure in my tinny "WARPIG". I was a bit nervous slowely creeping through the cutting and heading nth of st Kilda.... But boy was it worth it with two fierce shallow water reds!! The first for the Warpig that spends 99% of her time stalking the majestic Port River :cheer: Backed up this effort 6weeks later when I was ambushed by a pack of wild red dogs deep in the barker inlet creek system!!! This was insane stuff and the absolute best surprise you can get..... with your pants ON ;)There were a few brown trout in there too. while heading to a work meeting I had a flick in the hills and got pole axed by a 35cm trouty :woohoo: MY FIRST in SA. A few more followed too and now.I've got the knack, the hills have become a legitimate fishing option for me and me mates :)Since I release most of my fish, I joined a tagging club late May..... Oh yeah and haven't caught a fish since laugh: :evil:If I had to choose a highlight, it would either be my 7.5kg once in a life time creek snapper, my mate stuarts 46cm Bream, or my PB 30pound mulloway.... All equal in awesomeness and a close rival to having a sleepover with jess Alba  ....OR?

Chuck and Sambo, if it's the creek I'm thinking of that we have been known to fish that's not the first time it's happened there.I remember not too far back when the locals took it into their own hands to sort out the offender. Hopefully they find him and do it again. That really suxs arse, greedy bastards.Cheers Dazz

Got a call today from my son who was fishing one of our favourite creeks, they couldn't find one Mully, BUT! there were 15 heads of Mulloway, no bodies just heads, on the bottom that they could see :c who knows how many more where in the deeper water :c i'd really like to know how any marine park or any new rule is going to help fish stocks when the government can't even police the rules they have in place theres always some prick out there that will always kill as many as they can and take what ever they catch by what ever means they like :c NOT HAPPY JAN!

For me not being on any fishing forums for a few years and visiting the same one’s from back then there is one very noticeable thing.Less people on them now.Must go to show how many must have pulled out and lost interest in fishing.More rules and regulations and less fish,i guess the writing is on the wall.

I agree with you damien, ive fished less than 100 hrs in 2 years i would say as a landbased fisherperson, most of my fishing is or was done during daylight hrs as i work night shift. Between finding the time , motivation, the regulations along the metro coastline hook sizes has put me off , but the urge is building and in a few weeks i will hope to put a few hrs in of some metro jettys n beaches, to test the regulations and annoy the natives.

dont know about you guys but with all this talk of changing the rules eg hook size, where you can and cant fish, not using wire trace in daylight and the snapper ban. its almost to hard to go fishing. should it really be this damb complicated to wet a line!!!!! i feel like i have to research every little thing before i go out in our metro waters so i dont get fined or somthing. can it really get much harder? just want to know everones thoughts. cheers.

Things haven't changed one bit for me.Same old spots, same old hooks, same old fish!I know for some they are now restricted in how they go about things but it's less complicated for those that have a boat. A few have lost or going to lose the odd spot, some have to down size hooks. At the end of the day does it stop them fishing? No.The world is always an evolving beast and we can either choose to evolve with it or be left behind. My best advice is stick to the basics and don't think too much about what you want to catch. Do you really have to reinvent the wheel to do it?

has anyone tried a teqnique i saw on a dvd called trailer boat snapper filmed at whyalla. he uses a water baloon only blown up thr size of you thumb nail and hook through it to keep the vait off the bottom. i also use a running rig but iam sure my bait sits on the bottom hence why i keep getting rays and dog sharks. cheers.
