Claiming it as my best day fishing ever!Which is a BIG call for me.Heading down to locks well and a MASSIVE school of salmon sitting in a gutter about 40m out.Grabbed my favourite lure Duel Adagio and proceeded to cast for hours on end until my arms were sooooo sore!Normally these schools hold fish 1-3kg but ended up hooking a donkey of a fish!New PB salmon from the surf for me went 5.8kg.Few sharks hanging out the back and kept the school of fish right there. didn't really want to hook a 10ft bronzie but when you foul hook a salmon I suppose it's easy food for him.Thank goodness got my lure back!awesome fun! went back the next day with my whiting rod 6lb line but the school had moved to far out the back to cast

So today I headed off to Semaphore Jetty hoping for some salmon better than the ones we've been getting. It was rainy, windy weather which attracts salmon! We managed to land a massive 29cm salmon close to shore in the 10th cast followed by a nice mullet! :woohoo: It was a good sign! We kept fishing and landed heaps more salmon and 2 mullet! Even mum joined in!It was crazy but that wasn't the end! All the salmon moved off to the deeper water so we moved too. We landed another 19 plump salmon! Every cast! In less then 20 seconds of casting, we were on! :woohoo: Here is a photo of a juicy salmon! The day ended with a massive 30 decent salmon between mum, brother and me! Biggest went 33cm!BEST DAY EVER! :woohoo:

wilsons are loved for a good reason there tough as any 4 wrap or 5 wrap in 120in or 144in you will be set for a very long time and should have no trouble landing any of you target fish, check out the supergraph heavy surf as well its a fantasic rod heaps of grunt and a sensitve tip. I have also been looking at some of the live fiber surf rods latley 10ft mostly there light as with plenty of power as well just hard sneaking another rod past the misses. if you want to throw lures for salmon id suggest sumthing around 9ft these are great surf casting rods i have a 9ft jewel with a 5000 stradic its light as can cast all day long and it sends a 50gm metal well over 100m out and there so much fun with a 10lb salmon on the end of one. good luck picking your rod its half the fun

be nice if such a comp did become a monthly thing, even if the rewards wheren't as handsome, it still encourages people to post quality. So based on the above, I'm thinking in terms of consistency and not just reports for this month (even tho they've both been good) but more so good contributions and on a regular basis, my nominees are Kelvin and 4thalove.Kelvin is consistently getting great captures, always has pix, always gives a few tips and hints and doesn't get all elite on us (even tho he has every right and many that catch much less do)He fishes a well fished area on a floating match stick and shares all his adventures with a wide audience.4thalaove, having only just finished building J Lo, he has already put up many a quality report, and his thread on the build up of his tub must be commended. There is a few others that contribute in a high quality fashion, but these are my 2 picks

I have a couple of Wilson's 1 is a fsu5120 supergraph this is an awsum rod I've matched it to a shimano ultegra xtb fantastic reel tho yet to really test it out on sumthing big, also have a 13"6 Wilson seacoaster im not a fan of this rod as its very sloppy and hard to fish with big baits and hard to control fish once hooked its also to large and heavy to fish with light line n a small reel so I'm planning on upgrading to a new snyderglas for this winter and would like to match it with one off the new spinfisher v reels

Where have you fished before? What type of fishing do you do and what is your skill level? What do you want to catch? Are you interested in lots of little fish and plenty of action, or putting in lots of time for a chance of a legal fish but less smaller ones? What rod and reel do you have? No point buying an expensive rod and reel as it won't catch you any more fish if you don't know what you are doing. How far are you willign to travel? Are you willing to fish at night or in rough weather? There are many variables to consider before we can suggest some options.Learning to fish, westlakes is good as you will get plenty of bites and the occassional legal bream. Plenty of tommies off the metro jetties in the evening if you know how.One of the bigger species to catch will be salmon off port noarlunga jetty in winter during a storm but you will need to wait till at least autumn.Another tip I will give you is don't chase the rumors or reports and fish the same location for at least a dozen or two times. Any of the jetties will hold fish at the right time and although the learning curve is steep, plenty of good fish can be caught. You can bag on gar, tommies, YFW, and squid at the right time if you know what you are doing.Set your goals small at first. Tommies and squid are a good beginner target off the jetties and provide a good feed. Bream in westlakes are a good target to practice on.
