As long as the pros are pillaging all of the cockles and selling them interstate as food then we'll be sweet paying top dollar here for them as bait ;)Clearly have thrashed one area so we can just "share" with them and they can empty the next before its closed off.Such a pity you have to think twice about buying cockles...

Hi, ive used Mr Sheen to clean my rods a few times and was happy with the outcome.I also once experemented with an old broken rod with a clear varnish that id bought from some tackle shop. Wasnt happy with that outcome as it just flaked awayjust by using my fingernail. Then i tried the 2 part epoxy resin that you mix yourself, this is deffinetly the way to go!projoe is giving you good advise , as this is the way i did mine too on a warm day.A turning machine will help lots too , it makes it all even ...roknev uses a spit motor ,and i will too next time im rebuilding.Harry

TP as long as its soft and thickish and reaches way more than just the water off the highest jetty, ill put up a pic 4 ya too...lolthe middle rope is 20 years old plus, think silver rope is right name for it.the bottom one is nearly brand new ...never used yet ...i think. top one is thinnest 12mm i think.oh yea if you buy it from a boating shop get them to splice the ends for you , then you can use it as a tail rope easily too.i had to work all this crap out myself ya know!Harry

first step.. work out what is exported to other countries. and cut that from the pro licenses quota. as obvisouly we are not catching what australia needs there for we are taking more than required. if we are all for preserveing fish stock for australians then set a maximum exported quota. this country is renowned for raping itself to supply the rest of the world. AT OUR EXPENSE!

ban it they may but there are always loop holes some where .you would have to see what the wording of the new law to see what you can get away with .I mainly fish off the bottom cast out my penn 6/0 or what ever with a lump of squid or fillet and chill and what ever happens will this effect me who knows .So for now shark as much as you can and stick it to the man because i will

I agree! The problem is, with the prices being paid on the open market, from a fishers point of view, when that's how you make a living, and with the quality of our seafood, you'd be mad not to take advantage of increasing your profit margin through export. As much as I'd like to see quotas cut, and top quality Australian seafood remaining in Australia, I can't really see that ever happening.

im not against exports.. but surely if we are finding our numbers dropping in our local waters.. its the exports that should be cut back to feed our own nation first.. just my views. i just dont believe in raping our country to supply the rest of the worlds needs. when we injure our own nations ability to survive.goes with a lot of things.. imports/exports of oil/gas/seafood/citrus/automotive markets the list goes on..it really should come down to what is sustainable for AUSTRALIA not for the world.

Hardly any debates are ever won No one really agrees in the end but I suppose it's cool to have somewhere you can talk and show your opinions to people who have an understanding of what fishing is about and why we all feel so passionate about it. I really don't have anyone that I can talk to that truly understands my obsession with fishing and the ocean but I know I can always turn to you lads and ladies on here and get opinions from people who understand. We'll never all agree on things but all you have to do is read the outrageous opinions that have been made by people on the bronzie this topic was started about...http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/bronzed-aussie-turns-up-for-beach-weather/comments-e6frea6u-1225944752103Honestly what I have learnt from reading people's comments on that article are that non-fishoes truly do not understand what fishing even involves. They seem to not be aware that sharks are in the water everywhere and it's not the fisherman that make them come in. One lady seems to believe that the person who caught the shark has now drawn a tonne more bronzies into the area and he should now be responsible for anything that happens to swimmers. I truly believe that most people don't realise a squid, tommy ruff or even a snapper has as much right to be in the ocean as a bronzie yet they all eat these things. This is why I feel this forum is a godsend and I am so thankful I've joined and been able to discuss an obsession with like minded people. I do apologise if I have come across as specifically targeting anyone personally in this topic but all I'm really trying to do is get explainations behind people's comments so I can better understand why they feel that way.All we can do is represent our chosen passion in the best light possible and inform others as best we can so they can better understand why we're so passionate.CheersSS
