I've heard a 50+cm fish caught on Bower rd. apparently it was so old, it had moss growing off it's back. still not sure if I believe it, but it wouldn't surprise me if there is fish like that in the lake. after all, there are kingies, BIG mulloway and sharks in there too.

Anyone know where or who could set me up with a stainless steel fishing trolley ? need one to pull along jetty's that will hold a few rods ,eskys, tackle bags etc. tired of using poorly made $50 trolleys and making 2 trips back to the car park for more gear, so happy to spend around 150-200 for a decent made stainless type with decent heavy duty wheels etc, would need to me able to be taken apart and assembled easily , and must fit inside a normal sized vehicle as i dont own 4wd. not after any modified stuff from people im after a properly made stainless steel one. im located in Pooraka, 5095. Northern suburbs.

Poppa when you get to know your smoker you will love it as much as your wife and or friends.

I have the Hark 2 door and when I got it I used it every day, doing pork, chicken, turkey legs and of course fish.

The trick I found is the brine. Check online as you brine different and do the "rub" to suit the food you have chosen.

I use mine at least every week on something as you can not beat than smell and flavour. I do use a fair bit of fresh green rosemary  (got a large bush of it)

    Cheers

Smack on the money..start westlakes..plenty to b had an much safer then jetties..and more productive i might add...as for cheap combos...i play with a 30 dollar elcheapo 2-4kg from kmart an have landed my biggest mully yet 7.6kg..so elcheapos always come in handy..great for squiding too..

Have you seen snapper caught there recently?
Metro landbased I like a 12 foot or longer rod that can throw at least 3 or 4oz matched with a longcast threadline. I use 20lb braid. Often you will need a cast of 60m to 80m, sometimes into a headwind to get the bite, especially if it is starting to clear. Using bigger baits will also require a bit more lead to get them out the distance. I land most of my jetty snapper with a crab net.

When youre  coming  back from fishing in your boat, slow right down and throw your anchor rope over the side of the boat.  The wave action will take any kinks out of the anchor rope and soften it. The old guys in their putt putts would do this religiously.
If you have a couple of long  necks that you want to cool down to drinking temperature wrap them in a wet sack and tie them onto your roof racks. after 20 kms. they are cold enough to drink.I
If you dont have roof racks wrap then in a wet sack and stand them in the shade. This is known as Bookabie temp. The second one will taste better than the first

Best advice for any waters.....match the hatch. An old saying from trout fishos.
Means use the same type of bait and lures to copy the food that the species of fish you want is chasing.
    Applies in any fishing situation.

avidanglr1 reacted to Poppa Snake in Berley...What ingredients and how do you do it?
Everything I catch & take home gets used 1 way or another. Eat the fillets then the frames go in crab nets or Snapper bait. Squid heads, old re frozen bait, and frames I put in Super G's kitchen wiz. you know the one with the clear bowl? Last time decided to throw a handful of cockles in to make a smorgasbord for the fishies. Well that was clever, they stayed whole for a while and scored the hell out of the inside of the bowl so much ya can't see through it now. 1 happy G? not really.
berley goes in a 4" X 8" PVC weighted pipe cage made by 1 of my plumbers and down to the bottom to attract the self inflating whiting

Usually snapper, but cause of some the areas we fish, you never know what you may hook up, so some stopping power is needed. I know it's overkill, but thats how I like it.
My best rod of 3 yrs is the overhead 5-8 kg TCurve & haven't broken it yet.

As light as possible for bream 4-6 lb mainline with 6 lb fluoro leader i use...an smallest hooks possible..very finicky fish those bream... As for trouties..slightly bigger hooks as they hav big mouth for there size..an good place to start bait wise for both is whitebait..
