bennyboy 0
Noticed this species didn't have a thread yet so here it is...This one went 87cm and over 5lb caught locally just before new years on an unweighted pillie[i:hhlu8mc5]note: excuse the burnt face and raccoon eyes {SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif[/i:hhlu8mc5] http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/d0SB0tfq__big_snook.JPG[/img]
bennyboy 0
And this one went just a little shorter than 87cm but was no where near as fat as the previous http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/NYmZroMI__snookage.JPG[/img]
afishyfish 4
G'day Bennyboy. Ive just got back recently from Yorkes, and while drifting some snapper baits out through my berley trail, got absolutely slammed by a monster snook. It hit that hard, and ran that hard against a stiff drag on 9kilo braid, that I thought it had to be a large rugger, or maybe even an over 60.After a spirited tussle I couldnt beleive the size of the snook thatsurfaced at the side of my boat. A mnate of mine has heard of 1 at Venus Bay that went 4 ft 6 inches, and I reckon mine was all of that and maybe more {SMILIES_PATH}/shocked.gif {SMILIES_PATH}/shocked.gifIm absolutelyspewing I dont have a pic of it because it was a fish of a lifetime , but size-wise, lets just say it broke me off on the 30lb mono trace {SMILIES_PATH}/shocked.gif {SMILIES_PATH}/huh.gif {SMILIES_PATH}/rolleyes.gifcheers aff

statesquider 0
I'm not a fan of fish so by all means don't just go off my opinion When I have eaten them I've found them to be a bit oily, I suppose they are similar in flavour to salmon. Bit too fishy for my likings Great fun to catch on light gear though...
SandyWhiting 0
Ahh kk..Yer not to keen on oily fish me sen , Kingies are a wee oily for me too, now, whiting and snapper, now ya talking..

jaffa 81
Evening all, think the record for this species is upward of 7kg, given the hassle we had getting the horse in the piccie aboard without a net I can only dream of getting one that weighs a third more than this mother. Thanks Moggy. Cheers.

Kingsley 19
This thread is over 3 years old, some of the linked pictures (photobucket and websites etc) simply don't exist anymore, have been moved or deleted etc. hence the little box with a red X in it, or colour square etc (its saying it can't find the picture).all the attached pictures will work though.
