  1. Hains Signature for sale on Gumtree, funny ad, worth a read. I bet a lot of boats are sold with the same words being uttered. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/blackwood/motorboats-powerboats/2011-haines-signature-540f/1102245323?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=share&utm_campaign=socialbuttons We all love fishing, right? Apparently I don't like fishing any more - at least that's what I've been told by someone with more authority than me, but here is a ready to go fishing package - just hitch up, drop her in the water and go fishing the day you buy her! Oh, and I meant drop the
  2. METRO Crabs are doing very well with most getting their limits before lunch. Semaphore, Largs and south of the Silt grounds being the better places but they are getting them south also. Whiting catches have been on the improve with nice fish being caught south of Brighton, Grange, the Norma (Late arvo) and north of St Kilda has been doing very well. Garfish are biting best down south with fish around Semaphore and Largs have been reluctant to take the hook. Try out deeper around the cabbage patch and Norma for better catches.Squid have been slow but with the big blow last week things should im
  3. METRO Plenty of crabs are coming in from St Kilda to as far south as West Beach. Some promising news is the whiting are picking up with bag limits at St Kilda all the way down south. Squid have been slow but there is a feed out from Bower Road in deeper water along with West Beach and a few at Brighton. Garfish up north are still reluctant to bite but many years ago I used to die my gents in Red, Green and Blue. I am going to try to get some available for people to try in the next 3-4 weeks. They were killers when we used them and hopefully will be the same today, especially off the jetties. J
  4. I break mine up into smaller batches and put them in resealable bags, pillies, tommies, st's, cockles, squid heads. Seems to work. Then as the other guys said save the dregs and left overs for berley.
  5. I'd love to test the difference between the cheaper and more expensive sunnies. Wonder if there is much difference.
  6. I can't compare any brands but use Spotters myself, they're pretty good but aren't all that comfortable, I purchased online so didn't try them on. Glass lenses all the way if you can.
  7. METRO Southern areas like Brighton have been fairing well on the garfish while in other areas they have been reluctant to bight. Trick is getting out there very early and also try the beaches early morning for the garfish as well. Crabs are still in good supply from the Silt grounds right down to Grange and beyond. Shipping channel and off the breakwaters are also producing a feed. Jetty anglers are also getting a feed of crabs, tommies and some garfish at night during the faster tides. Whiting are around off Grange but not in big numbers. Snapper have been slow in close around the metro area
  8. Nice post Jayman, might have to try that one day.
  9. Your best bet would be to ask for them at your local tackle shop and see if we can get them in the stores due to demand.
  10. Good to know Darcydog, thanks for the local info.
  11. I've seen the photo taken by TonyB. If they are actually doing this, it will be disastrous! Why can't people either help nature or let it be?!
  12. Does look like a real nice place for a fish. Cheers for the report.
  13. METRO There is plenty of crabs on offer with best catches coming from Largs and Semaphore along with some nice crabs from the shipping channel. This means there can be some good snapper in the same area. Garfish around Semaphore are plentiful but are reluctant to bite. Down south is best around West Beach and Brighton. Snapper are still in good numbers around O'Sullivans but north has slowed. Plenty are being caught some 20+ kms west of North Haven. Squid have been consistent around the Grange to Brighton area. The beach fisherman have been doing very well on garfish very early in the mornings
  14. Nicely done guys, a great spot to be fishing at the moment by the sounds.
  15. METRO Some nice snapper have been caught out from O'Sullivans, while out from Glenelg has been spasmotic. The shipping channel is always worth a try at this time of year. Crabs continue to improve off Largs and Semaphore and even out from Glenelg but the garfish are hard to catch while there is plenty out there. people fishing off the beach near Tennyson have been doing better on the garfish early mornings.Whiting are slow but there is a few out new the farewell beacon and off the cabbage patch early mornings. West Lakes has been producing some nice bream along with a few mulloway. Port River
  16. Cool vid mate, nice bream, those crabs seems to work pretty well.
  17. METRO Crabs have been in good numbers off Semaphore, Largs, St Kilda, North of Black Pole and even off Glenelg. Snapper season went off with a bang with most people getting some nice fish before the tides slowed. Now that the tides have picked up they should be back on the bite. The Broadway had some nice fish along with some fish coming off the John Robb and up near the Goannas. Garfish have been large but reluctant to continue to bite around the Semaphore grounds but better catches have been coming from West Beach and Brighton. Whiting catches have been slow but there are fish out from West
  18. I was lucky enough to test out some of those Sheldon's gents with Banga and Kuerschie. The Sheldon's Bait Neon's smashed em every time while everyone else was barely getting a touch. These babies worked a few sessions at different places too so I'm definitely a believer. Here's Kuerschies write up on our session over at Yorkes last year. http://www.strikehook.com/index.php/topic/25422-epic-day-out/
  19. METROSome good reports have come in with fish being caught around the Broadway and Brighton. Kayaks have been doing well also. Best times is very early morning or late afternoons. Fish are ranging from big ruggers to just over the 60cm mark. From North Haven there are some nice fish west around 25-30kms out. John Rob and the Ballast at night are always worth a try. Burley lots to get them going. Crabs have only got better and are as far south as Glenelg. Try down there and betwenn Semaphore and Largs. While garfish are finiky north they are biting better south around West Beach and Glenelg. So
  20. A great bunch of fish there mate, excellent pics!
  21. I'll give you all a hint what the topic of the next Strike Hook comps is.... SNAPPER!!! Good luck to all those who are or who have already headed out for the first snapper session of the season. Just a reminder that the Snapper spawning spatial closures are in place midday 15 December to midday 31 January. Commercial and recreational fishers are prohibited from possessing, targeting, and taking snapper in these areas during the spatial closure period. Snapper spawning areas in: Spencer Gulf Gulf of Saint Vincent. Larger jpg and pdf versions of the map are attached th
  22. METRO Crabs have been good around Semaphore to St Kilda. There is a lot of females with eggs but the males are still coming in. Garfish have been biting well in some areas and reluctant in others. The section Bank has been doing well along with the area between Semaphore and Largs Jetty. This weekend should be good off the jetty at night for garfish and crabs. A friend bagged in the shipping channel off the breakwater for crabs 2 weeks ago. Snook are still around in shallow but they are only taking deep divers (Duel Hardcore pilchard). There is also some nice snook off the jetties late afterno
  23. Awesome write up mate, so many bream pics. You're making me jealous.
