smokeykebab got a reaction from Just Me in Please tell me about your whiting outfit
i use a jarvis walker marado bf3000 10lb mono for my whiting fishing. i go for a 15gram to 30gram sinker paternoster rig with 6, 8 or 10 longshanks. 7ft jarvis walker nibbletip rod. i use a shimano 4000 for landbased snapper fishing, so i'd say its overkill.

i've never had to clean my reels or rod. just never drop them in sand or water. never had an issue.

smokeykebab got a reaction from red_devil94 in Best line for avoiding tangles and knots?
10lb platypus mono platinum. best allrounder mono i've ever used. light enough to fish unweighted with but strong enough to cast 60gram sinkers with ease. heck i've even live baited with it and never had a problem with tangles or knots.

smokeykebab got a reaction from Rickster in information on Eagle Rays
nope not a problem. got it changed over the next day. the new one became my sharking reel (700m 30lb braid) and i caught the above eagle ray with it on a balloon bait. i believe it was inferior braid that caused the reel to break in the first place, braid was burning up and getting caught in the roller before explosion took place. never had a problem with okuma's warranty even my cousin burnt out his drag the drag was locked onto the reel would't come off after his encounter with a ray. even someone brang in a 2 year old okuma endurance at my work and we had to send it back to rapala for repairs. so they do honor there piece of paper that says lifetime warranty. -
smokeykebab got a reaction from urhookedfish in baitrunner combo
I'm a big fan of baitrunners, I've got 6 of them daiwa regal plus, okuma epix, avenger, shimano thunnus ci4, jarvis walker, outdoor expedition and honestly this reel is unbreakable. I've prob used it 50 times caught 3 big fish on it and it hasn't missed a beat. 8.2kg snapper skull dragged it in, 84cm mully demolished within 3 minutes, 40-50kg eagle ray ok that took 30mins but it did sit on the floor for 10mins of the fight. for the price there a great entry level baitrunner reel. I've dropped mine in saltwater, sand, bashed it on rocks and never once cleaned or serviced it. -

smokeykebab got a reaction from Tight_Lines in HEALTHY MULLOWAY CHAT. BRING YER THEORIES AND A PIC MAYBE
I only target them in 2 places really west lakes (all year round) and a metro beach and a few different beaches down south at the right time year, summer for schoolies and during winter normally get the bigger ones. estuaries = live bait all year round just a matter of playing the waiting game. surf = freshest bait possible big tides rough conditions finding the right gutter.
