  1. In the salt I wanna crack my first Mully,Fresh water wise my goals are a 45cm+ Redfin, 80cm+ Carp, and something I am really keen to have a crack at is getting all five targetable species in the Torrens in one day (Redfin, Carp, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and Catfish)
  2. I dunno that I'd be chasing 50lbers with it, but I can see no reason why it wouldn't handle Mullies right up to the 1m class........Not a snapper fisherman so can't comment there, but seems like it would be suited to that. The guy I bought it off was running 20lb braid through it.
  3. Mate I have just bought one of this off a fellow Strike HookerIts matched with a Shimano Jewel 6-10kg Baitcast rod and I am currently running 12lb Mono on it.I plan on using it to chase schoolies around the Port and Westlakes (and wherever else I venture)

    OUCH

Sounds painful dude, good to see you did the right thing and kept fishing though!
  5. Some cracking Bream there Rickster, nice work!
  6. Have caught a few ducks on floating lures at my local lake, also caught a seagull in the port a while back while flicking a little HB lure about.....Seagull wasn't too happy to be hooked (in the beak) and as I was trying to free it somehow managed to transfer the treble from it to me
  7. I'm a fish catcher (and releaser).......Can't stand the taste or smell of fish when it comes to cooking/eating themGuess I am a fisherman because my dad got me onto it as a kid, and its something I have grown up doing (kept me outta trouble as they say LoL)
  8. Been getting plent of tommies (with the odd gar and mullet) around the jervois bridge
  9. Old thread I know but I watched the full series of this when it was on Foxtel.....its a great series.....He goes out and catches Goonch, Arapima, Various Amazon Catfish, Pirahna, Giant Stingray, Asian Catfishes, Nile Perch (pretty sure he does African Catfish aswell), Bull Shark and Tigerfish! Its well worth watching
  10. I was just wondering this today actually..........seen a small tinny smashing along near where the Popeye is on Tuesday (presumably someone monitoring the toxicity levels??)
  11. I've been fishing the Outer Harbour area (Veitch Rd round to the Yacht Squadron) pretty hard since about Christmas (Land Based) and have only seen two rays (one little Eagle Ray and one Very big ray in the yacht marina)......both when I had berley in the water though.I haven't been targetting them though......I only have access to frozen baits and have found they just get destroyed by small bream and such in no time.
  12. Also caught one of these at Rapid Bay a fews years back on the old jetty....was informed it was a Bearded Cod.......damn thing was about as long as my forearm (wrist to elbow) and swallowed a whole pilchard on a big set of gangs
  13. Could try the Boardwalk/Jetty on Garden Island aswell..... My dad used to take me and the brother there fishing when we were kids. Always came away happy after a day catching Whiting, Mullet, Trumpeter and the odd Bream and Trevally..... (never anything of size though....all catch and release )
  14. Great fish guys.....big reward for getting out in that sorta weather!Nice work on the video too!
  15. Fantastic, I have to drive from Port Adelaide to Woodside in a couple of hours and the windscreen wipers on my car have only got two settings.....slow and slower -__-
  16. Older thread I know, but definately Carp in there, fished it just when the weather was warming up.....didn't land anything, but got busted off 4 times on my 4lb gear LoL, fishing near the tech park footbridge.......Another guy fishing there was targetting carp, but also throwing a spinner around (he seemed to be a local?)...so maybe still the odd desirable in there
  17. I'm gonna say the background has been changed from open water to a riverbank (could be completely wrong )
  18. Nice fish!I saw your video on youtube a little while back and posted about it in the freshwater section. Looks like so much fun fishing for carp like that!
  19. From the same website ;)"The reservoir also has a flood mitigation role. As it is kept deliberately less than full for most of the year it has the capacity to contain flood peaks and release floodwaters at a controlled rate."
  20. Pretty sure they rebuilt the whole jetty....been past it a few times when I have been at the missus place and it looks like it has been all redone..... could be wrong though
  21. tonyb wrote: Too much info...... Great fish though Tony!
