G"day 4 tha, look nice, just a bit of trivia you may be interested in,Duel/Ailie are actually the same company as Yo Zuri, and they sometimes sell the excact lures but name them different.Under the yo zuri banner that style of lure is marketed as the "mag Minnow'.Also if your interested there is a site on ebay that sells Aile mag lures, one in particular is the excact same style as the famous Yo Zuri Poddy minnow. And cheap as well i bidded and got 10 lures for around 12 bucks.

tried out 2 of these lures today land based with Moggy23they have a good shallow dive on them and can be cast a fair distance, i got the colors SHIW & SHRH and caught an st on eachthey travel through the water nicely and float on the pause, they are available in a sinking model also i have put in a diagram of the magnet system inside and how it works found them reasonably priced at the $15-20 range so anyone lookin for a couple of decent landbased st lures have a chuck with one of these Moggy23 used several different lures including a daiwa double clutch which seemed good as wellcheers 4THA

What annoys me about the big mags is commercialism. Talk more about bait fishing and easily accessible types/forms of fishing and I'll buy it.

After an absence of many years, I've taken up fishing again from Brighton Jetty, South Australia. As well as fishing for garfish, snapper and tommies, I also enjoy fishing for squid, being quite succesful when the water isn't murky. I've designed and constructed a squid jig which allows the presentation of three bait. I've tested it out and if floats well in the water.I also have a Facebook page entitled Brighton Jetty Fishing, Adelaide. You're welcome to have a look and participate.CheersMerv James

The Seven Sisters are an open star cluster in Taurus, very visible to the unaided eye. Usually on a clear night with no moon you can count about 6 stars, the seventh member was said to have been a supernova (an exploding star) which gave the name the Seven Sisters. Other names this cluster goes by are Messier 45, Pleiades, and Subaru (next time look at the badge on a Subaru car). Hope this helps a little.

Took this lastnight of Venus and the Seven Sisters close to one another. Using an Alt/Az tracking mount and a Telescope. You can see Venus in the Western Sky, just after sunset, it's the brightest thing there atm.

I did have a spreadsheet going but then my computer crashed and I lost everything. Never started again... Had everything from moon phase to barometric pressure and everything in between. Even had graphs so I could try and work out the best times to target certain species. Really should start it again but its a couple of years befor you start to see some patterns emerging. Bit hard to get motivated to start again.

Guys, knowing plenty on here fish and live in the area I thought itd be a good topic to discuss!! The area, the fishing and its History. ( yes Fishie, I’m looking at you)Now, as far as my understanding goes, the “ barges” are indeed 2 separate barges? Sunk next to each other but at right angles? Anybody got any underwater footage or pix of them? Be good to see what they looked like prior to sinking even!! Where they out there when the refinery was working? Seems odd having 2 sunken boats in an area where Oil tankers used to motor around on a daily Basis!!!I grew up down south, and spent many hrs on the adjacent shoreline fishing, looking at the Stanvac jetty wishing I could fish it with all the urban legend type stories of the fish caught by the maintenance staff. Was always impressive seeing the tanker outs there. Now that I visit the place occasionally from a boat, I notice that at some stage the tankers must’ve docked hard up against the end of jetty thus the rubber stoppers and concrete blocks out there? But I’m sure I heard at some stage that the tankers used to more to the infamous “blocks” and wait to be unloaded. So this begs the question, how did the tankers actually attached themselves to the underwater structure? Why didn’t they just drop anchor. Id love to hear exactly the process that was used. It would help me understand exactly what the underwater structure is. Any ex refinery workers reading this? After speaking to some divers last year, they said that the “blocks” (that us fishos refer to) are indeed a labyrinth of big round pipes.( I had always been told it was 3 separate concrete moring blocks???) Now did the tankers attach themselves to these pipes as a moring, or are they under seafloor pipes that were used to transfer the fuel from the refinery to the awaiting tankers. The logistics of the above intrigue me!! Underwater footage of the area would be great if anybody has it!!I’ve heard of the fuelling station, is this the same structure as the blocks or something different? Then there is “the dump”, adjacent and in close to the jetty, apparently an area where the refinery dropped trucks and old equipment into the water to make a place for divers to use!! Crazy that there was a time when that behaviour was allowed to happen!!I’d love to see, hear, or read anything about this famous area and its history!! An area of our coast where many fish plenty of big reds have been caught!!

Hey Great Topic Jack!My first born son got a 5.5lb Salmon off the beach when he was 2. Since then, he's been having a ball. But he's only gone heavier on a couple of species. An 18kilo Banjo Shark and a 6.5kilo Red. My next son, well, he's been fishing since he was a little over 1 1/2. But his best to date is also a 6.5kilo Red.My youngest son, did not like the boat much originally but since I took him out Snapper fishing last year, he's the first on the boat now. His best to date is a 5.8kilo Snapper. No wonder he's hooked! Then there's my youngest. My Daughter loves fishing almost as much as me! The biggest fish she's caught so far is a nice 2.3kilo Red. It makes me laugh these days thinking back when I was their age and was out on the boat with my old man and my grandfather chasing Snapps. For them, a 36cm Red was a great fish. Never did the fish heavy. Since owning my boat, it took me 2 years solid effort to get onto my first decent Red (7kilo) which I caught when I was 36. I just hope these kids of mine take that experience with them forever.

What's the best fish your kids have caught???My boy is 6 and has caught some nice bream and STs, but he has been going on about a mully. So since a few mates pulled out, me and him are having a mission :woohoo: When I was his age I caught some monster carp up at Morgan, so it'll be cool if he can knock over a schoolie :clap:We have been.training much of this week lol. We put the couches together, tied a big spoon to the end of the line, and he's in the boat (couches) while I run round the house with the spoon doing mully runs. He's good at the big three.... He just chills out with rod up letting the mully (me ) run, then when it stops he pumps and winds like a pro , then when the.mully is boatside, no more reeling and the fishes head stays in the water :cheer: One last training session tonight and by tomorrow I'll be hanging on to him while he.does it.for real. :woohoo: :woohoo:HE tells me "I don't want to go and watch you catch sea weed like last time dad" :laugh:Well that's our plan anyhow, but plenty of fun to be had gathering live bait and eating chips in between
