many years ago walking along the outer harbor break water tripped fell on my kness a few weeks later same thing down victor way . think i put that old school mate off of fishing .
recently 3 times trebles into me twice in my fingers and once in my leg . Tiny bream hanging off my leg while i try and take hooks out . Driving to the QEH twice with trebles hanging off my fingers .
And this year i bought boots to wear fishing got tired off old work shoes with no soles left and slipping in mud

And a big thank you to HBT who tried to take the first treeble out my finger . The one hanging out my leg so many people walked past not one offered a hand let alone a word of advice
no wonder i went back to plastics . and the number of times i hit the backpack on my back when i used to fly fish for bream lol
Forgot the time i snapped my leader swapped spools forgot to tighten the drag lost spool in the drink lol

Gum weir is almost empty at the moment and has been completely empty for the last couple of months (although may be full again after this weekends rain). It's surprisingly shallow when you see it empty, could probably walk across it when it's full and not get your shoulders wet.

Water clarity and access are better than normal in the upper reaches of the Torrens since the bushfire, but the fish seem to have vanished, haven't even seen a carp!

The fly fishers don't actually own any part of the river they just lease it and i am pretty sure that the leases have not been extended and fly fishers don't have any rights any more . Could be wrong but i dont think so . Best place is to have a suss is at safwaa . My dad has had a stroke and cant use his left leg properly either but some of the dams are right next to where you park and are easily accessible . And you know there are fish there as they are stoked by safwaa .
There are a few public places around but really not worth the effort as these do get fished a fair bit and the fish are very scarce in these spots . Usually have to travel a fair distance up or down stream to find any thing .

    Benton that's what I thought

Otherwise I'll have to wait to go chase some bream

There are a few around, not many creeks or rivers are easily accessed though, climbing, clinging to small cliffs and those god dam blackberries slow you down pretty fast. Have a look at public parks in the hills and you should find some dams soon enough.

Well I arrived at the lake and started fishing at about 7.15 am.it was already warm at 26 c .And I had planned on using my foam popper fly .That's what I did .First section of the lake I waded out to there was no interest in my fly.And after four casts I moved on a few metres. Second spot I tried and second cast pop small Bream was launching its self at the fly .And then nothing four more casts then I moved on .This continued up this section of the lake each time I moved at least two fish would attack the fly .And on several occasions you could here the fly "POP" back onto the surface, plus at least 2 larger fish were creating bow waves under the fly.And as I approached the next rock wall I decided to exit the water and try the next beach..Where once again I had two fish jump at this fly and then nothing at 8.15 am the Bream stopped .I decided to swap flies to my normal rubber band bait fish fly also pink in colour .Nothing along this stretch and I worked my way back in front of the rock wall nothing again. After stepping into a rather large hole I decided to swap sides of the lake .While having a nice chat with some bait fishers assuring them I was just mucking around .they packed up and went home .Couple more casts and I'll go home bang the drag was screaming . I must admit Ididn't play this fish very well. After so many lost fish in recent weeks I decided to get him ashore ASAP.And the result was a very nice 26cm Bream my second largest Bream on a fly .At 38c it would be my biggest at that temp and biggest at 9.15 am.

Fluro is ok to use with plastics or hards but dont go cheap, better quality jap fluros  they will cost more than braid.
the other benifit of fluro is you can fish it straight thru.
also make sure that line roller on the reel is in good nick & rolls freely.

I've got some mates who use 1000 sized reels shimano stella I believe and 4lb braid trying to tie knots with line that thin is ridiculously hard. When I first started using 2lb mono tieing on 6lb leader using a double albright knot took me hours no kidding. Most times now if I gotta retie I just use a bloodknot, saves me so much time. Hope you're good with your knots.the aernos I use is the older model different colour and different handle, so its different to the one in the link. the price I paid for mine was about 1/5 of what the new aernos costs.that gave me 20mins of fun

I use a 1000 sized shimano aernos with 2lb mono and try and catch anything I can on it, use a graphite 1-3kg rod too. Hooking even legal bream is a blast and big carp pull even harder so its great fun if you ask me. No reason at all why you shouldn't go ahead with what you want. I'm yet to be really pushed to the limit using something so light but it gets the heart pumping and that's what fishing should be about. any idea's what reel you're going to get? I love the look of the new aernos but the more expensive shimano's have so many better features. http://www.fishingtackleshop.com.au/products/Shimano-Aernos-1000-FA-Fishing-Reel.html one downside of using something with light line is the amount of lures you're going to loose.

Even though many will poo poo the idea these days, dont overlook Fireline or Fireline Crystal for a good cheap braid (gelspun) to get you started.
