  15. Port Lincoln fishing report 16/07/2015

    Teaser Paragraph:

The weather over the past week had not been on an anglers side. Depending what you were targeting, high swell, rough winds, or average tides (and near freezing conditions) made fishing for most anglers very hard or impossible. The fishos who did manage to venture out during breaks through all this were quite successful in finding some good fish.

  16. Port Lincoln fishing report 22/05/2014

    Teaser Paragraph:

The town jetty has seen a good run of squid of varying sizes. Smaller jigs in sizes 2.5 – 3 are the go here. The yellowfin have also started to turn up with a good school hanging around the jetty on most days. Garfish were well spread out during the calm weather. King George whiting have been hit and miss locally, with some anglers really struggling and others bagging out easily. Move around a bit and use some burley when you find them. Squid from small to very large have come from local regions. Spalding cove is producing King George whiting and the occasional flathead. Between Stenross boat ramp and North Shields boaties and land based anglers found gar, squid, snook, tommies and Yellowfin and King George whiting.

  17. Port Lincoln fishing report 25/09/2014

    Teaser Paragraph:

The town jetty and wharf is continuing to produce smaller squid at all times of the day. Squid were also around Louth Bay, North Shields and Spalding Cove. Tommies and salmon trout are also being caught on baits and lures, however better catch results occur when burley is being used. The Sleaford to Wanna stretch of coast had numerous schools of 1 to 4kg salmon. Finding them within casting range can be tricky but when the sharks, seals or dolphins push them in close some brilliant lure fishing can be the result. We haven’t had any reports of whiting in the bays but Spalding Cove on dusk would be worth a try. Whiting have been reported between Carcass Rock and Taylors Landing, the Lumps and Thistle Island. The Passage had some nanny’s and the occasional Samson fish.

  19. Port Lincoln fishing report 14/11/2014

    Teaser Paragraph:

The North Shields jetty has had schools of legal silver trevally. Try the main wharf for bigger squid, snook, whiting, salmon up to 1kg, and big tommies. Both Boston bay and Proper bay had reports of blue swimmer crabs, by both land based and boat anglers. Make sure to always check the size as a lot of undersize crabs are being landed in pots. Further along the coast reports have come in from anglers fishing Point Drummond up to convention beach with salmon being around the 2-3kg mark as well as some big tommies from the surf. A few whiting were found at Thistle and Taylors Island. Proper Bay, Spalding Cove and the North Shore were best for whiting at dawn or dusk. Late afternoon is still good for salmon and tommies along the North Shore. Small squid are still reliable of the jetties and in the bays.

  20. Port Lincoln fishing report 23/01/2015

    Teaser Paragraph:

The main wharf has had plenty of Tommies and Salmon Trout, biting on baits and lures especially if burley was being used. Just remember to be aware of the difference between Australian Herring (Tommy Rough) and Australian Salmon, as many salmon are having to be measured. The odd smaller Yellowtail Kingfish are also being spotted from the wharf, with some anglers having success hooking them using fresh baits. Slimy Mackerel and Chow are also being reported in the area. Tuna sizes seem to vary considerably with some around Low Rocks measuring between 2 and 28kg. Tuna were also found behind Hopkins, Thistle, Williams and Neptune Islands and the Cabbage Patch. Small skirted lures are working well for the smaller tuna and colour doesn’t seem to matter on most days. Nannygai and Snapper are also being caught by jigging and bottom bouncing baits.

Some good Salmon have been caught from the beaches near Sleaford and the Salmon Hole right through to Curta Rocks. There are reports of some large schools along the coast as well. A few Whales have been sighted along this stretch of coast as well. Try the wharf for Salmon Trout, mullet and Squid.
