  1. I heard the Daiwa were not producing the Gekkabijin Yoguri lure any more, well the small ones that I use any way which are the 4F models (42mm/ 2gm) floating hard body lures. So I rang Daiwa Australia to confirm it and they said "That's correct, they're being discontinued and they have 15 left in stock. If want them I'd have to be quick and get hold of a Daiwa seller and get them to get them in for me. Well I was quickly on the phone and was lucky enough to get twelve of the Ghost Brown ones that I use from Daiwa.. so i do have some nice trout lures to see me out for a while proving I don't get busted off too often like I did towards the end of the trout season when I lost two in two trips, then broke the bib of the only surviving ghost brown one. Now what's left of them are probably in tackle shops around the country..These were selling from $17-95 to $22-95 each and I picked them up for $11-95 ea which I was very happy with.. also came with free postage too..  :D

    cheers

  2. Any platypus in those quiet creeks?

Ripper photo btw...! a brighter day would have enhanced the colours... "ya shooda waited!..."

Thanks guys, yes quite often come across them in the rivers.. here's one from the Mersey River when I was fishing, it sat there until I took it's photo then moved off.

It's really great to see them when fishing the rivers, I've had them swim between my legs on several occasions, I just remain motionless so they don't notice any movement.

    cheers

  3. The top photo of a thistle seed head (or what ever you'd call it)  was taken quite some time ago in a paddock as I was heading to a river.. the thing is the following two photos taken this morning while heading through the paddocks once again to a river are of the same type of thistle..

What I didn't know was that on cool mornings they are closed.. learn something new every day don't we..  :D   photo taken with my trusty fishing Canon SX150IS compact camera..

  4. The old pliers surgery is always great fun isnt it? I do need to find a decent pair of forceps for my trout fishing at some point. Just havent found any I like more than the pliers

I picked up a few pairs of bent nose ones on Ebay from the USA, they make it so much easier to remove the hooks from trout than my bent nose pliers..

I still use the pliers for tweaking my spinners as well as plucking the trebles hooks out on my fingers etc.. :D  :D

Give the barbless ones a go AR, no harm in trying them at all...

    cheers

  5. It's all part of the fun playing Doctor while fishing AR.. I'm use to it now and the pliers get a work out at least two to three times each trout season with me..

It's not all that often I have to use the "Donger" on a trout due to the trebles hooks of the spinner damaging the fish.. A pair of forceps is one of the best tools for removing them too.. The pliers are for me.. ;)

Quite a lot of the time the trout toss the lures once I have them in the net as well.. If they swallow a lure deep then damage will be done to the gills whether or not you have barbed or barbless hooks I reckon and once there's gill damage (I'm talking trout) they have to get the '' Donger " as they'll go belly up anyway. There's a lot of fisho's using barbless hooks now days, you can always try a single hook on a lure too instead of trebles..

    cheers

  7. Good one doobie... :D  :D  There is actually a trout fly that looks like a bee KS.. I don't have one though, I do tie a black wooly bugger on my line above the lure every so often and that will catch a trout every now and then..

    Bee type flies..

projoe, the Bumble Bees rarely sting anyone I've had them land on me and they're never a problem, the do sound like a B-17 Bomber though as they're really noisy buggers.. European wasps are what annoy me as they're every where here now days.. have been stung a couple of times by them, March flies are even worse they just don't let up keep on coming until I whack them with the hat. Then there's those pesky little flies that get blown over here from the mainland with a strong Northerly wind, They're keep landing on the face & they drive me absolutely crazy when in a river from January through to March or until we get a good frost. Once we have a frost that knocks them over. Still could be worse, the snakes could all take up swimming in rivers I suppose, though I do see the odd Tiger snake crossing the river from time to time.. :)

    cheers

  8. Finally we have had a bit of rain here today and it's brought the bees out collecting honey, Bumble Bees & native bees were busy on a variety of plants a while ago..

I had time to get a few quick pic's before the rain moved in again.. hoping we get a lot more to give the rivers a lift and bring the trout on..

    cheers

    (It's in the T&C's / fine print) :P

As soon as I get the chance to get back in a river doobie, I'll definitely do that too.. (y)       They prize package is on it's way down to Tassie at this very moment.. :excited:
